  1. Thanks, I did believe it was a limitation on the Pcie lane bandwith provided currently, I understand that scaling is poor beyond to GPUs. I simply wanted reassurance.
  2. I was wondering why are multi gpu set ups are limited to four gpu cores, is this because of a hardware limitation, or has it been determined by Nvidia/ AMD?
  3. I think the APU will impact dedicated GPU's just the same as cloud gaming will, it's all hypothetical. The APU has it's use, such as the gigabyte BRIX which employs IRIS technology or the A10-7850k, that is in small form factor pc's.
  4. I have used the same seagate drives for two years, no issues. The data is created from exposure to a hostile environment, by this I mean they are consumer drives placed in enterprise operating conditions. They do not provide statistics for many of the consumer level NAS drives that companies like Seagate and Western Digital offer, which are recommended for 24/7 use. They have also not provided statistics for enterprise grade drives such as the Seagate Constellation series. Lastly I wouldn't mind seeing these numbers broken down year by year, for this data is accumulated over a number of years, I wouldn't mind seeing the impact of the Seagates 7200.11 firmware had on the results, as the Seagate Barracuda 7200 (ST31500341AS) boasts a 25% failure rate (According to Blackblaze). (ST31500341AS)
  5. The issue with the X3 is storage, which is why I still prefer an ipod classic linked with the e17, but if the X5 were to have a larger storage space, comparable to the ipod classic, I would switch, because who doesn't love support for 24/ 192.
  6. The Galaxy Note 3 boasts Dac capable of 192/24, I am assuming it is made by Wolfson, which provides warmer sound reproduction, The Ipod uses a cirrus logic Dac, which is known for precision reproduction. If you are looking for a new phone, go with the Note 3, as the battery life should be adequate for intermittent music listening. But if you are happy with your phone, go with your ipod. As well if you plan to listen to music all day, definitely go with the Ipod.
  7. I have no issue setting up the array, was just hoping for some opinions Read the question 'Noob' I said FOUR two terabyte drives in raid 10
  8. What option do you think would be safer for data storage 2 x 4TB drives in raid 1 versus 4 x 2TB drives in raid 10?
  9. The A2+'s do have a small footprint, front air intake, they will do well on a desk, but after a quick google they do appear to be pricey in New Zealand, Looking at other products most likely available to you I'd recommend something from Creative, so you still get a small footprint, I personally find the included sub in many of the 2.1 systems to be Inadequate, and you can't swap it out if it fails, or you want heavier bass.
  10. I can personally recommend the A2+'s, the bass is present, although you will not find it as well flushed out as with larger monitors (M-Audio), or with use of a sub, meaning you'll be able to hear with distinction the Bass or double bass in your music, but it won't be as heavy. The A2+'s also have an included Usb Dac functionality. I can't comment on the Corsair speakers as I personally haven't listened to them. If you can go out to the store try and give the different speaker set-ups a listen. If you were to go with a set of bookshelf speakers, you can always add in a sub later. My issue with the 2.1 setups from companies such as Logitech and Cosair, is you lose the modular aspect, for instance you can have a set of psb speakers, hooked up to a pioneer receiver, aided by a Klipsch sub. In the end, always do more research and even ask more questions.
  11. It depends on your usage scenario, if you're just looking for speakers to play audio from (Youtube videos/ Movies/ game audio) for when your mates come by, the logitech speakers are great, or any similar 2.1 or 2.0 system. Now If you're wanting some quality speakers to enjoy your music on, you might want to hold on for a bit, save your money, so you can pick yourself up some powered speakers, such as the Audioengine A2+'s, or others like the KRK Rokits.
  12. ACϟDC - Hells Bells Alice Cooper - Unfinished Sweet Ratatat - Seventeen Years Adele - Rolling in the Deep Foghat - Slowride I just run a couple of my favorites through, they change most of the time, the only must is Hells Bells which has become a sort of tradition
