So, there's something that I would like to show that I have always felt with my VA panel.

Disgusting ghosting.  VAs are particularly bad with this due to the time that it takes for the LCD crystals to switch between on and off positions.

This is also a 144hz monitor, so let that sink in.

For reference.

And now.

This is a 60hz IPS monitor.  While there is blurry motion, there is very little ghosting.

Now, don't take this as me saying that a 60hz IPS is better than a 144hz VA, the higher refresh rate VA is MUCH smoother, but that ghosting can make the screen look like it's covered in vaseline when doing quick camera movements.  While I love the contrast of VA, my next primary monitor probably won't be VA for this reason alone.  Hopefully we get better local dimming on IPS screens in the future.

EDIT: Just so it doesn't seem like I'm trashing VA too much, here's a shitty comparison pic.

Left is VA, right is IPS.  I think it's safe to say which one has better contrast.

@_StrikE_ High refresh IPS panels have existed long before high refresh VA panels existed.  High refresh VA is relatively new due to inherent ghosting limitations.

VA has 3x the contrast with IPS like colors with a slight hit to the viewing angle.  Due to that, they are seen in Samsung TVs a lot.  They are just slow monitors.
