First off, I wish to thank @Droidbot for giving me the information, and in general, pointing me in the right direction.

After some more research, I am no longer interested in ever purchasing Schiit products ever again.

They are a company that actively attacks those who have constructive criticism, while also demonizing those who have objective measurements showing the flaws in their hardware.

I will never knowingly support a company that does that.

JDS labs Element line looks interesting, so that might be my next upgrade.

Also, this is the exact problem that i'm having.

I just tested, it's persistent between devices.  Same error.

Honestly my focusrite scarlet solo is a surprisingly good DAC/AMP.

Also only 100 buckazoids.

I tried to at least temporarily revive the Modi to do an A B test, but that's not going to happen.

But if memory is recalled correctly, the DAC was about the same quality as the Schiit, but the AMP was a bit weaker (it can only really reach about 90% of Schiit's low gain).

Either way, I think that i'm going to save up for the element.

Now for the email that I sent to Schiit.  Well, I do love to troll.

Also, because I can, @MyInnerFred, ever find a solution?

No unfortunately I was never able to find a solution to fix my issue, I searched around online more for people with similar issues and found that most people were saying that the DAC was on the verge of death so it that's why it would work off and on with different computers or something along the lines of that.

I contacted Schiit customer service to get it replaced and they approved my RMA request so I sent it over, Then once they received it they told me I was out of warranty and had to pay $45 plus shipping to get it fixed... They didn't tell me that it was out of warranty until they received the DAC even though they had all the information before approving my RMA to verify that it was out of warranty.

I would have been paying over half the price for a new Modi 2 with the repair fee and the two times I would have to pay shipping to get it to them and from them... Absolute garbage customer service for not notifying the customer before hand that the product was already out of warranty. Also note that the Modi 2 actually died before the 2 year warranty period expired, I just didn't bother to request a RMA because I was under the assumption that it was the Win 10 that cause it to not work properly. Device didn't even last 2 years of functional service... good thing I had a Micca Origen+ as a backup during the period the Modi 2 was nonfunctional.

Found it comical that the grammar of both customer service reps I talked to would have glaring mistakes in their English.

Needless to say I'll never be looking to Schiit for another DAC/AMP device.

I instead settled for a Topping D30 ordered off of massdrop to use with my  Magni 2 Uber, it's a well made DAC I'm satisfied with my purchase.

A really good in-depth review of it can be found here: https://audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-d30-dac-measurement-and-review.2016/

They also include a hardware tear down of the unit in a link in the first post of the review. Pretty impressed at the results considering it's a device made in China.

    @MyInnerFred That was pretty detailed.

Yeah, it almost feels like they were holding your DAC hostage.  I would imagine that repairing it gave them a bigger profit.

Mine started crapping out around the second year.

I probably should have done something sooner, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Someone named Tom replied to my email.  Grammar sounds fine at the moment, but grammar isn't my strong point.

China makes good stuff, bad stuff, and stuff with massive flaws.

Also, i'll check out your link, but i'm probably going to stick with my focusrite for now.
