Hiya guys! Just bought a fancy new 4k 10-bit monitor and was playing around with the NVIDIA control panel and Photoshop to see whats up. However, I noticed something strange that I can't wrap my head around. Changing from 8-bit to 10-bit output in the control panel does not seem to do anything? Among many tests I did, I created a gradient from blue to red in Photoshop with 16-bit per channel enabled. Theoretically, this gradient should have more banding when I turn the monitor to 8-bit in the NVIDIA control panel. But it doesn't. It looks completely the same. The same happens in lightroom. And if I export to a 16-bit tiff and view it in the normal photo viewer. The same happens with different colour management profiles enabled (not that that should make any difference). I know my displayport cable is capable of carrying a 4k 10-bit signal. I've tried different colours at different saturation levels. There is always a little banding of course, but there is no difference between 8-bit and 10-bit. Output colour format is set to RGB and dynamic range is set to FULL. Is there some setting somewhere I don't know about? I should see more banding when viewing a 16-bit per channel gradient up close on an 8-bit monitor as compared to a 10-bit monitor?

Hia, I bought and fixed a server a few weeks ago, installed some new hardware and the newest version of Linux Mint. I've been messing around with different software solutions for what I wanna do and I finally have everything planned. The problem is, now I've got a very messy server with lots of different crap on it and I wanna wipe it completely. There is one SSD (with OS) and two HDD's (formatted with ZFS) in the machine and I wanna wipe everything, the ZFS formatting, all files and start all new. How would I best go about doing that? These temps are on the warmer part of the spectrum, but definietly acceptable. Nothing to worry about.

2600x if you plan on buing a seperate cooler and 2600 if you are going with the one in the box.

Do you really need 3TB of SSD storage? Seems a little extreme, but I won't stop you. If you are planning on long term storage for pictures and games you rarely play, maybe get a large HDD to 1/2 the price? But you know better than me what you need and want, so it's nothing major. Maybe trade it down a littlebit, just to save some money for an icecream or ten. Good job on the build btw, going to be a killer pc!

I agree with @GoldenLag, a used 290x has almost double the preformance of a 1050 at the same price (when you buy 290x used). The CPU might be bottlenecking it, but nothing to major.

Yes that would work out. You would have to have a really weird configuration for the Mobo and GPU not to be compatible with each other. What you should worry about is the CPU (right socket), Cooler(does it fit in the case), GPU (length) and Mobo (Atx, Matx, aso) .

That motherboard only supports ddr2 memory, the HP computer has ddr3 memory, so it would not work ?

I am sorry, but there is no way the thermaltake case would work. The main board literally just won't fit inside, 100% guaranteed.

Aight, so you have a lot to choose from, but it is virtually impossible to find a case that is as cheap and sexy as that thermaltake one. Part of the reason why is because ATX systems are bigger and therefore require more material to be built, so they are more expensive. That's great! It seems like you have two hard drives, both being 3.5" (it's a little hard to see the bottom one). That means you need to find a case that can hold two 3.5" disks, which 80% of cases can. One sec, let me see if i can find something similar to the Thermaltake one.

Yes, then it seems like you need to follow @Slottr's advise, that is an ATX system. Make sure that the case you choose has enough space for your storage devices, like SSD's and hard drives. You should be able to figure out how many you have by simpy looking in file explorer or, more prefirably, open up the case and take a look. I have attached an image pointing to where the storage devices are in the HP computer. When shopping for a new case, make sure that it can support all the storage devices you have. You should be able to find how many a given case supports by looking under "expansions" in the specification sheet. 2.5" and 3.5" refers to the diagonal width of the drive. Be aware that the thermaltake case you have listed above has an USB 3.0 port on the front. If i am not mistaken, i do belive that the motherboard in the HP computer does not have an USB 3.0 header, which means you might have to live with a dead usb port if you chose a case with a USB 3.0 port in the front, which most cases today have. The HP case also has a 5.25" bay in the front (that is where the card reader is). If you find a case that also has a 5.25" front bay port, you should be able to move the front card readers to it. I have also attached an image of where the 5.25" front bay, since i suck at explaining. The HP case has a DVD reader, but you can virtually forget about finding a case with one of those built in. If the DVD reader is important to you, you can replace the card readers in the 5.25" bay with a 5.25" DVD reader. I think that covers most of it. I hope you have the best of luck! Do not hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions ? EDIT: I am a dumbass. The CMT has three 5.25" bays, and many USB 3.0 headers. Forget what i said about the dead USB's, that only counts for the SFF. If you find a case with one or more 5.25" bays you should be able to migrate the DVD reader and/or the card reader. Hello! I have a quick question; I have a single folder where i store all the images i have ever taken and naturally i want to back up this folder somewhere. I recently invested in Onedrive, Microsoft's cloud storage. Is it possible for me to have a folder automatically backed up on the cloud without me having to manually copy the images from my hard drive and move them over to onedrive? Thank you!

I am upgrading my brothers computer for his birthday. One of the things i wanted to upgrade is the case, with the Corsair carbide air 240. But i have seen a lot of complaints that it cant take wider graphic cards.. Yes. Most AAA games use way more than 3gb of video memory. If you can't afford that maybe the RX 580 is for you?

I built my first ever computer ever, and when i was done i was like "that is a LOT of rgb.." then i realised i spent about 490bucks on rgb.. Shiieeet.. At least it looks dope
