oogely boogely halp I wanna buy something but I don't wanna impulse buy a 5960X because prices hiked slightly again so now I'm looking at used 1070s
At least if I do get one it'll go in the folding rig.

Ended up actually yoinking a monitor, lol. One of these: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27UK650-W-4k-uhd-led-monitor
Pretty sure it’s a better match for my Radeon VII than my current 1st gen G-Sync TN panel 1080p144Hz monitor. -
@Tristerin yeah lol. I’ve wanted a monitor upgrade for a while and this seemed like a good price so I yoinked it. I enjoy taking the highest quality screenshots in Destiny 2 anyways, so a 4K monitor is actually nicer for me than 1440p. Even if I use AMD’s DSR equivalent and run the game in 4K at 200% render scaling (I get like 15fps at those settings lol), the actual screenshot itself is still in 1080p.

Aaaaaand oof literally as he was packing it up the guy decided he actually wanted to keep it in case he puts his PS4 in his office? And so he refunded me and kept the monitor.
Why do people list stuff they're not 100% sure they want to sell? I've had this happen to me with another 4K monitor too
Imma just pull a "fuck it" and track down and yoink a j-bin 5960X. After that I'll need a 4K monitor and then a capture card and my rig should be 100% finished, unless I decide to save up for an RTX card to push RT in Cyberpunk 2077, which looks to be exactly the kind of game I like.
Gotta figure out how to mod my BIOS to allow bifurcation as well, so I can use my ASUS Hyper M.2 card (I've seen guys on the EVGA forums say they did it, and it's been done for MSI and most ASRock boards as well). -
@Tristerin tru tru, but he seemed like a nice guy. I wanted to rage but I just responded politely then went to bed instead, lol. (also was on r/hardwareswap for the monitor)
But you will be proud to know that I SLAPPED that holy
BUY IT NOWbutton on the 5960X
Adding things to the cart is for losers. -
mmmmmmmmm
I need to grow a set of zandos and just purchase my GPU + block for the wifes rig. I need to quit reading your status' for a minute so I don't grow a pair and piss the wife off lol (shes already asked me not to buy the GPU and block until Christmas and Im over here like - BUT ALL THESE PARTS FOR THIS LOOP WAITING TO BE USED).
-
@Tristerin yeah but... Heatkiller blocks though...
-
iknorite. Its funny cause the most expensive part of my loop will be the GPU block lol. Its going to cost me at least $100 for the block (I *could* go block, strap, and heat sinks with a fan on zip ties lol but I want it to look the part as well as perform) when the loop with SP fans cost me around $120 lol (2x240mm and 1x120mm rad, soft tubing, copper CPU block from China...they are legit, this is my third one)
