  1. It was on parallels but the bottom wasn't perfectly flat and the part rocked slightly when it was center punched. I think they are going to be doing something like that with XDesign (basically Solidworks but in the cloud) soon.
  2. It's finally happening. We are water cooling our RED 8K camera, and it is a beautiful thing. Check out the tools we used at OhCanadaSupply: https://lmg.gg/IswrA Try out Solidworks Flow Simulation: https://www.solidworks.com/Linus Check out the CAD models: https://grabcad.com/library/red-camera-water-cooling-1 Buy Noctua fans On Amazon (PAID LINK): https://geni.us/4qrPAXZ On Newegg (PAID LINK): https://lmg.gg/XYT4L Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group. 3. Haven't water cooled a projector, although for the lounge we swapped the projector fan with a Noctua. Simple drop in replacement and now it is basically silent.
  4. I only upgrade when I can get a really good deal on something. This normally involves finding something broken on the used market I think I can fix. Now that my system is pretty great and GPUs are expensive I don't plan on upgrading anything soon, but when someone is selling a 2080Ti without a cooler or something I'll be all over it.
  5. If you're just putting the 20 pin in that is fine. I thought you meant then use the 4pin from the 24 pin for CPU power
  6. You're going to have to create custom cabling for your new PSU, and it is not as simple as just taking 4 pins off of the 20 pin (might not be electrically compatible). You are going to have to find a wiring diagram of the motherboard (i.e. what voltage each individual pin in) and a wiring diagram of your PSU, and then individually solder each wire. After that you'll need to check each wire with a multimeter, because if you get one wrong you could brick the whole system. If you don't have a fair bit of electronics knowledge then just don't even attempt. There is a chance that you can find an adapter online. If not maybe a new mobo is in order.
  7. It isn't a large enough sample size for us to really comment on. When you're shipping millions of units there are going to be issues, and I haven't heard enough of these to say it is reoccurring yet. It sounds like the larger issue in this case was the user moving countries and it probably would have just been a replacement unit if they had stayed in the US.
  8. I saw these at CES and they look so frigging good for the price. Like there aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but with the 3:2 display it should be soooo good. Wait.. is the AMD version only available with a 16:9 display?? If so that is a frigging rip.
  9. I was thinking of professionals like engineers, architects, or 3D modelers. For a lawyer I'd suggest just getting an XPS 13.
  10. Acer has created a laptop with the kinds of features real professionals need in the ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro.

  12. Why a sound bar? I'd recommend bookshelf speakers like the Mackie CR4s.
  13. We're in San Francisco to get a first look at the all new Dell XPS 13 - and does it ever look good. 14. The Hunter Duet combines a CPU and a GPU cooler into a single AIO - but in typical AliExpress fashion it's pretty sketchy. Buy the Hunter Duet: https://lmg.gg/NgGLq Buy a good cooler (NH-U12) On Amazon (PAID LINK): https://geni.us/Vuye3Kk On Newegg (PAID LINK): https://lmg.gg/3qKjD
  15. Hmm, maybe reduce the screen brightness to more like 35% or lower, and also turn off HDR if it is enabled. That screen can go up to 400nits, and it will destroy your battery if given the chance.
  16. That is odd. I'm guessing you've dropped the screen brightness and keyboard back light to a reasonable level. It's hard to say for sure because maybe you have like a moving desktop background or something, but it is possible you have a defective unit. Without trying we've been easily able to get a whole day out of one.
  17. That's a way bigger laptop, more comparable to the XPS 15 that has the same processor.
  18. Dell has somehow crammed SIX cores into a 13” notebook.. meaning this could be the fastest ultrabook on the market. 19. If the info from when Maingear went public is anything to go off of, barely.
  20. I feel like the NH-C14S is what you're looking for. Depending on how you arrange the fan the height can either be 115mm or 142mm.
  21. I would really not be concerned about it blowing up under any heat load you could achieve with a computer. It is possible to blow us a regular heatpipe if you use a torch or something, and you probably could do the dame with the Thmerosiphon - but unless you're putting it in the oven on broil you're probably fine.
  22. Well we used the EK water loop that will outperform any regular AIO.
  23. We didn't have a TR AIO in the office. We had a Enermax one but the pump died.
