Assuming I didn't do the math wrong in my head the screen areas are approximately 53in2 vs. 45in2.
That's nearly 20% more screen real estate. I'd happily lose compatibility for some old accessories for a 5% increase let alone 20%.

Actual personal contact? 
I have never used social media to actually be social, so that's what I've done. 
The people who really want to be in contact with you will be more than pleased to meet up with you in real life or answer a call/text message.
