  1. No worries, I got a notification because you quoted me, AKA did things the right way. Removing drives is a sound plan, there could be some interference there. Annual spring cleaning? You are better at this than I am. Yeah nah no worries, I post my issues on here every now and then as well and always appreciate helpful responses.
  2. That is cursed, I literally only know those plugs from connections for welders and such. I got basically that exact cable with my microphone, a BM-800. Great microphone, and I only paid like 20€ for the entire kit.
  3. Hey, it would be better than a single S-ATA power plug.
  4. I always thought that the current limit for "Molex" was "whatever does not change the colour of its casing" 8,5A still is way less than 21A though, although you would be pretty okay with a 2x "Molex" to "8Pin" adapter because of tolerances.
  5. Short and chunky is a really weird combo to see, I do not like this card. Colourful is wild, that I have to admit. Did not even notice the card having a triple slot design, having that on a mid range card back in the 500 gen must have been insane. Not to mention the accessories, I want a card like that now
  6. That is true, but you have to think about the worst case scenario. Someone will use an adapter like this with a riser that does not transmit power and burn their house down. I might have done that when I was younger and even dumber That reminds me of the person "listening to the power grid" by plugging a USB-C to AUX adapter into a wall wart. You are likely not getting anything but static from that, if anything
  7. Hey everyone, I have been on Ebay again and went down the rabbit hole of concerning tech (well, mostly adapters), which made me wonder what the most concerning/cursed items you have seen are? This is my top find so far: a S-ATA to "PCIe 8Pin" adapter; S-ATA is rated for up to 4.5A per voltage (about 54W on the 12V rail), "PCIe 8Pin" for up to 7A per contact. Since each connector has three 12V contacts, the maximum power draw is 21A (about 252W), almost five times the rated maximum power of the single S-ATA connector. That adapter is a fire hazard. Looking forward to hearing/seeing your finds.
  8. You should not, the main issue would be instability and/or worse performance. I am running -0.205V with a +400MHz all core OC (no clue how that works, I must have gotten THE golden 1600AF for undervolting - OCing only works if I run 1.4V and it barely goes over 4GHz). The system is perfectly stable and performance is better than stock, at least according to Cinebench and 3DMark.
  9. I have never heard of that happening with a short circuit, I would have thought that the board would either be toast or not do anything. Hopefully, that is part of the job of the motherboard (well, mostly the PSU - but that caused the issue)
  10. It might but that depends on your settings, including the subtimings and such. I am no expert and have so far just left my RAM at XMP as well, although I am planning on manually OCing it at some point in the future, if I find time to dig into everything a bit more. I might be able to help more then. That said, the RAM is not posting any issues and I am suprised it does not POST, so it really feels like a Windows problem and you said that just setting it to 2133 did not help either, right?
  11. I would suspect the board to be faulty then. You could try to start it without RAM and see whether another error pops up.
  12. That sounds like some sort of contactor to me, but there could be a short somewhere too. That is odd indeed. Have you tried a different PSU or board?
  13. It sounds like there is a clear path for power through the CPU, which is good if you want to power the CPUs (you need a closed circuit for power to flow). I would not have expected the path to be that clear with the CPU off, but that should not be a sign for concern. What made you come to that conclusion?
  14. There is a miriad of other possible problems, yes. Listing and chasing them all down is the bigger issue. We can probably discount pin/pad damage/improper insertion because you moved the RAM a bunch and the other brand works. That leaves the motherboard not playing nicely (very unlikely, given that it is on the QVL), bad CPU seating (very unlikely, since the other RAM works). It would pretty much be software at this point AFAIK, do you have a spare drive to install a clean OS on to try out?
  15. The what That sounds like at least your board is toast, it might have tanked all the damage but everything else could be faulty as well, though it might work for now.
