  1. Awesome thank you, I'll suppose I might as well add both of them. It'll also be better in the long run as I can modify the second Pi-Hole without affecting the users in the leftmost network. Thanks for your help, I'll update this thread in a month or less when I make all these changes, and update the changes to the design for those who are interested.
  2. So on the Wireless Router to the bottom right, I can set the DNS for all the DHCP devices to use the 192.168.2.3 address that is on another network? If so that would be great, I'll worry about the whole restrictions I just didn't want to do something that would be impossible or not recommended. And out of curiosity, would there be a reason "not" to have 2 PI Hole DNS for both networks? Is there no benefit?
  3. I am working on a home project to experiment and create a more secure network. I believe I have most of it planned well, but I am confused on the DNS and Gateway settings. On my Gateways I've set the IP to their next hop from the device they are currently on. If there is a mistake. please help me figure out what I need to change for this to work properly. As for DNS I couldn't find an exact answer on google or forums regarding the use of a DNS IP that is on a different network. I'm not sure if all 3 separate networks can use the same DNS 192.168.2.3/24 (Located on the Fanless i5 ESXI Mini PC), or if a DNS "must" reside within that same network that the computers are in. This is the reason why I added 2 Pi-Holes for both the First Network and the Third Network (The Second Network is the IPSec network between both locations). So I would like a reassurance check as to if my DNS/Gateways are correct or if I need to change something. Another concern I have is that if only 1 Pi-Hole is needed at the very beginning of the network, will the IPSec Tunnel in between cause any issues in filtering dns requests? That was too specific to find a google answer, and I'm unaware as to how IPSec affects the Pi-Hole filtering, if at all from the network on the right side. Thank you for taking the time to review my design, and I look forward to your suggestions. By the way, IPSec must be implemented on the design as is. Other hardware and servers are excluded from this scope if they aren't relevant to the project.
  4. I have a 2012 Macbook Pro that my sister wants to recover her pictures and documents. She obtained that laptop from her Medical School (It was included in her tuition) and has always been left the way it was setup. I'll start from the beginning my issues and solutions I've tried and we'll go from there. - When I first turned on the laptop and logged in to my sister's account, the mac loading screen just stays on a loop. I've left it like that for half an hour and retried it after that, ending in the same result. She says the macbook didn't have any issues 2 months back. - Ok so I did some online research and booted into disk utility. And I noticed that the "Macintosh HD" Drive was not working properly since it failed a Verify and Repair. I do remember doing some other things in here before and I know for a fact that the Mac Hard Drive is encrypted by the school. - I then rebooted into Single Sign On to access the terminal directly logged in as the Disk Utility Terminal gave (NO WRITE) errors. Inside the terminal I sent a "fsck" just to see what was wrong with the drive, and this was the result. - I then came across a really good 2007 forum about this issue and how others have solved it http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20070204093925888 Unfortunately no matter if I ran commands like "fsck_hfs/dev/disk1" I would get the following error: Checking volume. Checking Extents Overflow file. Checking Catalog file. Rebuilding catalog B-tree. The volume HDD could not be repaired. I've tried EaseUS, iBoysoft, and PhotoRec TestDisk but none of them could recover correct data from the encrypted drive. I am currently going to try Stellar to see if what they claim is true about recovering from an encrypted drive with a password of course which I have. If anyone else has a suggestion or if you know how much an Apple Store might charge for this fix, please let me know. I'm not willing to shell out a lot of money but if it's under $100 I will definitely consider it.
  5. Yeah I was frustrated too by this new update. I looked online and found this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/problem-with-blue-yeti-microphone-after-recent/3a53151f-d44b-4bcd-92ca-1513c7e0547a Short Story: Hit Windows key + I, go into Privacy. On the left pane, click Microphone. Be sure that Allow apps to access your microphone is on, and the apps in the list under Choose which apps can access your microphone are checked on. This fixed my problem on Windows 10 and allowed Audacity and Discord to finally work with my Blue Yeti Mic. Note: If the settings are already on turn them off and back on and see if that refreshes.
  6. Thanks I'll take that advice, but I'll keep the forum open for a while longer in case anyone else has other opinions or experiences.
  7. I currently have the G.Skill F42400C15D32GVR 32GB RAM on my Gigabyte Gaming 7 motherboard. I want to know if this same RAM can be used on the Ryzen GA-AX370-Gaming K7 motherboard. I realize that this Ryzen motherboard doesn't support my exact RAM model (PDF File Attached Below), but they have other similar models listed on the PDF. Some of the Ryzen's motherboard compatible RAMs are: F4-2400C15D-32GFXR / F4-2400C15D-32GFX / F4-2400C15D-32GFT Mine is the F4-2400C15D-32GVR. So would the last 3 letters in the model matter that much for compatibility? Or whould I be mostly safe to use on the Ryzen board. mb_memory_ga-ax370-gaming-k7.pdf
  8. I have decided to buy the LG WH16NS40 Blu-ray Burner Drive as well as some USBs later on as @Qweeb has previously mentioned for my 1080p and 4K videos (4K videos on USB not Blu-ray). I am still curious to know if 4k burning is possible yet or if it's not yet for the public as UHD Players are still costly at $400.
  9. @Qweeb That's a good idea possibly for my business projects, but I still prefer Blu-ray discs for family moments since I prefer to watch them on the tv from a Blu-ray player or possibly PC for 4k output playback if supported on disc and burner. Plus I already have many stored in cases with separate titles so I know which is which. Many of my old family videos were recorded on VHS but I converted them to DVD, still I plan to put some if not all on Blu-ray for larger storage to get rid of some split-up disc content.
  10. Could be, for $16 you can get 50 Blu-ray Discs that support 25Gb on each disc. But I meant to mention that the 1080p and 4K content I'd like to write on Blu-ray is family moments as well as business. Since hard drives can fail (Had 1 fail already) and I'm tired of backups and burning on multiple 4.7Gb DVD Discs.
  11. I have searched the internet all morning and still can't find a decent answer to my question. My question is "What do I need in order to burn 4K content on a disc, and what do I need to play them." For the burning part I'm looking for advice in what type of Internal Blu-ray Drives support 4K UHD Burning and if any type of Blu-ray Disc supports that resolution writing. For the playing part I'm mainly looking for software what is capable. And if playing back on Linux is preferred rather than Windows as i have heard issues on 4K playback in Windows. I am looking to purchase on Amazon an LG WH16NS40 Blu-ray Burner and some cheap Optical Quantum OQBDR06LT-50 Blu-ray discs for a small filming business as well as personal use since I want to store 4k videos on disc to save memory space on my PC and play it on the PC later on when needed. Any recommendations or advice in 4k burning would be greatly appreciated.
