  1. Which server case are you talking about? I have been looking for one and have not found any for that price. I have a Dell 7010 I want to transplant for a file/media server.
  2. Kova would be nice. My Logitech MX518 is getting a little old in the teeth.
  3. I look at my kids and wonder "new ssd or food for the kids?" Kids will always win.
  4. Never heard of one until recently. Sounds like it would make a good streaming pc for my living room.
  5. I would place its box on a shrine and bow down to it everyday. Wishing I was worthy of its power
  6. I am going to say the power supply is the best option. If it follows antecs quality, like the rest of their products, it appears to be the best of the options on the list. The price of it isn't that bad either. I might purchase it, even if I don't win anything.
  7. I am getting ready to build a new pc for my cousin across the US. I already have all the components, but am unable to start the build until this weekend. Which it gives me time to get things for AFTER it is assembled in the case. I want to burn in and stress test the system. But I am unsure of what is needed to do this. Since I am not a pro builder spending money on something I am going to use maybe once ever couple of years isn't really in the budget. So any Ideas on what I can use to do this. I have FurMark, Prime95, and memtest86 already. Is there anything else I should use? Here is the build list BTW: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9bszHx I will end up posting this build after I am done with pictures
  8. So I finally got the case updated to the Corsair Obsidian 750D, added 2 Corsair AF140 fans and 2 Corsair SP120 fans for the radiator I have. I put the SP120's in a push/pull config to hopefully reduce the amount of heat. But one thing I didn't realize is how big of a monster this case is. I knew it was going to be big, but I didn't realize how much. I have so much room in the case that i don't know what I am going to do with it all. Considering it is just an i5-4670k and only has one graphics card. I "could" put a custom cooling loop into it and be fine, but budget doesn't allow for that. The reason for the case upgrade was because it kept just randomly rebooting. I was thinking it was a temp issue, since A there was a cat clogging the power supply exhaust, and 2 there was a lot of heat coming out of the top of the old case I had. But it was way to compact and had little to no air flow in there. Plus it was loud as hell when I had to put the fans on high just to get through a round of BF4 or COD:Ghosts without it crashing and then causing me not to be able to do anything because the raid was rebuilding. But if this doesn't fix the issue it is probably the power supply, since it is about 5 years old, that is the only other weak link and that will be upgraded to a corsair power supply. Not sure which one at this point, but I am looking at the Corsair AX760i. But I have 2 pictures to show and here they are:
  9. Don't worry it all comes with time. I have been working on getting mine for a few years now.
  10. Well you have to convert them. They are hard to find right out of the box.
  11. Dude it is killing you, it is driving me freaking crazy. I have a wire nazi of a wife and my OCD doesn't help much either.
  12. Thank you all for coming, I am prefacing this with that it has been about 1997 since the last time I have had a complete parts choice in any machine. I have hobeling my machines together with random parts I have gotten from friends that have worked. I did do upgrades to my case and power supply a few years ago so I reused them since they still work and the power supply puts out enough juice for what I have. That being said, in a few months I am going to change both those out in a few months. I am upgrading from a Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz, 4GB Kingston DDR2-800, Gigabite GA-N560SOC-2GD nVidia GTX 560 SOC edition with a 1TB Samsung HDD. The HDD was going bad causing serious system instability and I wanted a new computer. So needless to say the wife couldn't play her Real Arcade games anymore and told me to upgrade it. So here I am, below are the specs for the new machine I have: New Stuff: CPU: Intel i5-4670K @ 3.4 GHz Motherboard: Gigabite GA-Z87X-OC Memory: G.Skill Ripjaw X 16GB DDR-3-1600 F3-1600C9D-16GXM GPU: Gigabite GV-N770OC-4GD nVidia 770 OC edition SSD: Intel 335 240GB HDD: 2x 2TB Western Digital Black in Raid1 CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 Reused Stuff: Case: Raidmax Skyline (has no cable management) Power Supply: Roswell RV2-700 700w Value 2 series Mouse: Logitech MX518 Optical Mouse Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Monitor: Dell ST2420L 24" LED Now for some pictures New Parts: Motherboard and accessories: CPU and stock fan: Memory: WD Black HDD's: CPU in the motherboard: My Ghetto Test Bench: Everything in the case, and god it is ugly, thanks to no cable management: As of right now I have fried the CPU trying to OC the CPU for the first time in my life, as in I have never OCed anything in my life. And in the process of RMAing it I somehow damaged the pins in the CPU socket and had to replace the MoBo. So needless to say this hasn't been the best experience in a build I have ever done. I am going to upgrade the case to a Corsair 750D and the Corsair AX760i PSU, and some custom power cables sleeves. I have seen it on here and I am truly digging it. Maybe some custom liquid cooling loop for the CPU and GPU, but that won't happen until I do a crap ton of research. But thank you for your views and any comments you may have.
  13. Looks good. Are you going hard acrylic or bendy tube on the tubing?
  14. Why not have your local vinyl shop print the design and you just put it on as a sticker. Save you time and money.
  15. Tom's hardware has some decent priced builds for on the cheep. But don't buy in stages, unless you do a platform upgrade. Say going from a socket 775 to an 1150 get an i3 for now and some inexpensive memory. Probably 400 if you look on the inexpensive side and reuse some of your parts. Like case and power supply. Then later move up the cpu and memory. You are buying more parts but you get into a modern architecture which is way better then the core2duo. I just went from a Q6600 to i5-4670K huge jump in performance.
