momsspaghetti got a reaction from King_of_Oz in GTX 1070 with i7 4790k bottleneck
My setup:
i7 4790k @ 4.00Ghz
Asrock H97 Pro4 (I don't overclock and have the K version only because I wanted 0.4 GHZ more at standard core clock, Z97 would not have been worth it, please no comments on that ^^)
16gb crucial ballistix sport ddr3 1600
256gb Samsung 850 Pro SSD
be quiet! Straight Power 10 500W
NZXT s340
I currently have a GTX 970. But I want to upgrade on a 1070 soon. Will my processor make it without any problems/bottleneck?
(I play AAA titles on ultra in 1440p with 60fps?

your 4790k is just as good as a 6700k and 7700k if not better imo i had the 4790k and still a skylake didnt even seem all that good i would go with way one and just upgrade case and gpu and so on there is actually no need to get a 7700k over your current 4790k

Way 2 is definitely not worth it. You can gain performance in games by getting DDR3-2400MHz RAM and putting it in there. So just do the cosmetic stuff imo. And wait for Vega before you drop the money on a 1070

4790K is still a beast cpu, no need to upgrade trust me.
OC can always give a boost, but it will not be NEEDED.
No need to upgrade to 32 GB ram, it will give 0 performance gain. Only it will give you the power to open more application at the same time and not lose performance on alt tabing and stuff...
Short story : Your cpu is a beast, no need to change board to OC, waste of money, it will run the 1070 without any problems or any bottlenecks ! and 32 gb ram won't improve performance but just give you more "room" for more applications running at the same times.
