  1. Thanks to all of you guys!
  2. Now I've noticed that GPU-Z shows it swapping between @ x8 3.0 to @ x8 2.0, but its swaps randomly. Is this behaviour normal? Not needing to close the program either it just swaps live. (Seems to change to 3.0 when I actively use the gpu)
  3. Hey everyone, Yesterday we found out we had a Gigabyte RTX 3070 which was left in the warehouse for like 2 years and they gave it to me. Now that I've removed my RX 5700 and changed to the new one I looked up on the BIOS and it shows that my GPU is running at PCIe 3.0 8x. (because I have 2 NVMEs and one of them is sharing lanes with the GPU). My motherboard is an ASUS B450-F STRIX Should I worry? Is it fine? Im losing tons of performance? I usually play on my 1440p monitor. I've read tons of people that say that YES, I'm losing performance but when I watch video comparisons it looks... fine? Like margin of error FPS between x16 and x8. Bare in mind that I have PCIe 3.0, not 4.0. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hello friends, I need someone to enlighten me on this topic. I saw several videos a while ago where the RX 5700 model (and XT variant) had cooling problems in the VRAM memories (There was a GamersNexus video too but for the MSI Evoke 5700XT). After checking with Afterburner I realized that it was my case too. While playing games my graphics temperature did not exceed 70Cº (Hotspot 80Cº) but my memories were close to 92Cº. Problem is, this is in winter. Summers here in Spain get really toasty. Today, after a long time, I opened my GPU and found what was seen in those videos. The pads do not even cover 70% of the memories. In some cases (the lower memories) they were covered only with a small strip of thermal pad. But I also saw that one of the thermal pads for the VRMs are not placed on them, but onto a fin cooler that is attach to the side? idk kind of strange. (pics below) The fact is that after changing those thermal pads the situation has not changed, it remains the same. In my case I put some 1.5mm TP-3 pads from Arctic. I read several times that this card uses 2mm, but almost all the comments and reviews I saw changed it to 1.5mm right away because with 2mm the results were even worse. But when mounting the heatsink I realized that I could actually see a drop of light through the heatsink and the pad, therefore they are not making effective contact (I think, right?). The temperature has NOT worsened, it remains the same. I have also accidentally broken a blade on one of the fans, to avoid having noise problems, I removed the opposite blade to balance it. (did I do it right?) The truth is that it doesn't make a single bit of noise, apart from the obvious one. So... what should I do? Look for the 2mm ones? Is this temperature really what it is and I should just accept it? It is safe? Because all the comments I read from people who opted for 2mm say that the results are much worse if that is what the websites specify? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hey guys, my GPU is recently getting some pretty hot temps on the memory modules. I found out that MSI cut a lot of corners with the thermalpads on this particular model, even making the thermalpads only cover ~35% of the size of the memory chips. However I can't find the right thermalpads for it, in some websites i've read they are 2mm thick and on others 1.5mm. If its 2mm, i can't find anything. Only chinese knock-offs that i'm not sure that I want to have on my gpu. If anyone can bring me some light, I would appreciate it. I live in Spain, so I cannot buy products from the US.
  6. Hello everyone, I have an RX 5700 MECH OC which is now 3 years old. After year one I installed the XT bios on it, while performing an undervolt and a less-agresive overclock. Which for sure, granted me around 10% more performance while keeping thermals at bay. However, I know that there was some kind of shenanigans by MSI and this particular GPU had thermal pads that were considerable smaller than the die it had to cover. Now my memory temps are kind of high, around 85-90Cº while playing games and 66º at idle. What I would like to know is what thermal pad size should I get to cover all the thermalpads I need to remove (VRAM modules and I guess VRMs too...?) Also if there is any brand / model that works well, it would be appreciated too. FYI: I'm from Spain, main shopping sites are: www.amazon.com www.pccomponentes.com Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey, I Know im not the only one, it happens since I bought it 5 years ago. But the left-palm rest of the laptop gets hot to the point where its very uncomfortable (Even in idle!). The thing that is below that part of the laptop is the Mecanical hard drive. There is no heatshinks, nothing there, just the hard drive. The hard drive its not under heavy usage either, but still, since there is nothing to dissipate the heat, it just goes to your wrist. Is there any some type of sheet or material that can isolate that temperature and not end up going towards the area of the left palm of the laptop? And no, the hdd is not overheating. It just goes straight up to your palm. Laptop in question: Link
  8. In my laptop they were squishy and had viscosity, now they dont because they are ~5 years old. So... I don't really know which ones should I buy, an example would be cool.
  9. Hey, the other day I was replacing the thermal paste on my MSI GE62VR Laptop and noticed that the "pads" that sit above the VRAM chips and the vrms was completely dry, they lost all the viscosity. I contacted MSI so they would tell me which ones should I get or atleast, what are the measures. They gave me "we cannot tell you that" as an answer. So my questions are: 1) What is the name of those pads, since the "thermal pads" I find do not show any kind of viscosity as these did when they were new. 2) Any ideas on the size I should get? 3) I've read some people just put thermal paste instead of those thermal pads... is that good..? Thanks in advance. Pic I found on the internet if anyone doesnt get what im talking about
  10. I've tried RSR and tbf I don't quite see the difference between RSR and Radeon Image Sharpening, sure it may have its differences but for me it looks pretty identical.
  11. Hey guys, I have an MSI Laptop that has an I5 6300HQ and a GTX 1060 3GB The laptop name is GE62VR, I want to replace its thermal pads because I saw that some of them are damaged and they have been there for 5 years (yes, I replaced thermal paste already 2 times, the laptop does not have high temps, but I feel like i need to change atleast the thermalpads that are above the VRMs and VRAM modules since some of them are cut in half for example. My question is: Any reccomendations? I dont want to spend a lot of money but I dont want them to be trash either.
  12. I updated the picture so you guys can see the warning message I get. In task manager, as I would normally play, says that I'm using 0.3GB + 0.1GB shared. If that amount was deducted from the total, it still woudnt be limited to 7.2GB of usage
  13. Hey guys, I have a Radeon RX 5700 with XT Bios. Radeon Software says that it has 8176 MB of VRAM. I've seen some reviews about Forza Horizon 5 and in the graphs they show the NVIDIA GPU's peak at about 7,6GB of VRAM usage on Extreme settings. However, in my case Im always peaking at 8120-8150. I've checked and there is nothing running in the background that could be taking that half a gig of VRAM. So: my questions are: 1) Do Nvidia GPU's compress better to use less vram? 2) Do I really have 8176 MB of VRAM or is there a bit reserved to system or something? Because when Forza Horizon 5 tells me that VRAM usage is very high it indicates me this: ¡WARNING, LOW VIDEO MEMORY! 7,7 / 7,2 I understand that 7.7 is the memory being used/needed and 7.2 what I have avaliable, but then 7.2 is a lot lower than the supposed 8.1. If someone can clear my mind about this. (Game feels good nevertheless, a small stutter/freeze when entering the big cities where I get the warning) Image of usage below
  14. 67Cº is pretty normal. Nothing to worry about in those numbers. You can change your fan curve with the Gigabyte software AORUS GAMING to modify it, or even MSI Afterburner. You should not worry about 67º, even at 80º it would be safe.
  15. Also if you want to make it look "cool" you can buy gpu-holders on sites like Aliexpress. I bought this one that was customizable and it even has leds that work with AuraSnyc and it costed me less than 7€, its methacrylate.
  16. I know it might sound dumb, but if it happens with two different monitors, could you check your GPU screen settings? Not windows, talking about Nvidia Control Panel or Adrenaline (if radeon). A friend of mine experienced the same problem because its GPU turned all the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel Screen settings to the minimum and tried 3 different screens until he found out the problem. edit: srry didnt see it well, its strange that it happened with two monitors but that should be or very bad luck or some sort of power problem
  17. Im looking at some videos with the same configuration as you and I'm afraid to say that it may be a game-related problem, since all of the 3 videos I've seen experience this framedrops to 30-34FPS without any reason (No CPU usage spike, no GPU usage Spike, nothing strange). However, you can always check with Afterburner how much VRAM is Rust consuming, I have a laptop with a GTX 1060 3GB ver. as you and a lot of times those 3GB of VRAM come short to handle this kind of games. If its always maxed out at 3GB, that may be your problem.
  18. If it happens always you can try: Open Task Manager > Startup > Disable any program that you find suspicious or that you don't want to be open at startup. Or Open searchbar > type msconfig > services > click on the squarebox that says don't show microsoft services > remove the ones you consider non-essential. Maybe this will fix it, if it does fix it, it will be shown AFTER the first restart.
  19. You can contact here: https://account.msi.com/login The website is wrong, its says there is no support for almost every country on Europe. Which is not true. Here's the guide: https://www.msi.com/support/technical_details/how-to-send-my-product-for-repair-service
  20. No. You shoudnt leave it outside. Apart from condensation and other issues, system components like the screen and battery can be damaged if they stay at those temperatures.
  21. As a 5700 user, its very good. You should have no problems at all. Only things to take in mind: 1) if you are going to stream or record medium to high paced games... the built in encoder its noticeable bad. 2) Check if one of the technologies you are looking forward WORKS properly. F.E: Enhanced Sync is not working properly since RDNA release. Always mentioned in the patch notes of every new driver. 3) In-driver-built FSR is coming in a few days/weeks, you should look forward for it! (hoping it works since its implantation) 4) Memory overclocking is low to non existent. 5) AMD RDNA1 cards usually requieres you to make a custom voltage/frequency curve to make them run cooler, you should take a look every once in a while to the curve since sometimes It randomly changes to default values. There are a lot of guides out there and videos on youtube. In my case I run it at max 1850Mhz core 925mv. To reach that high core clock read 6). 6) Only if you have a dual-bios model or the confidence that it will work out.: RX 5700 and RX 5700XT are only differenced because one has 36 CUs and the other has 40. That similarity allow you to put an XT Bios in your 5700. You gain about 10-15% performance in games. ITS VERY EASY TO DO, but it has risks. Although I think that the only thing that can happen can be fixed by having another PC with another GPU and re-installing the correct bios putting the 5700 as a second card for the process of reinstalling the bios. There is guides in the internet and videos on youtube like JayzTwoCents one: You need the exact bios model of your GPU, meaning: If you have an MSI MECH OC 5700, you need a MSI MECH OC 5700XT Bios. that can be found here: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/ and the next step should be installing RX5700XT drivers instead of 5700. PS: In the video they use a method that doesnt work, the one used in min 7 is the one you should do if you want to do it.
  22. ok lmk if your changing your screen mode fixes that. In my case as I said before, my LG had those gamemodes that I showed in the picture on the first post. FPS1 made my screen flicker. Same for the 1MS motion blur option. Changing my game mode and disabling 1MS motion blur fixed the issue for me. I know they are two different monitors but it could be something related.
  23. Sorry I said Adaptative Sync and its called Enhanced Sync. Enhanced Sync is NOT VSync. I *guessed* that your GPU is an AMD GPU. If it is: check this to be OFF
