  1. Hey guys I have a simmilar problem. My work requires a lot of research so I at the end of the day I have a lot of tabs and documents open. I leave my laptop on hybernate for the night since closing and then opening everything else in the morning (actually finding the stuff) would take me an extra hour every day. Long story short, windows updates and restarts when laptop is on hybernate, thus closing everything and even worse not saving certain things. I can only set an "active hours" period up to 16h when laptop wont auto restart and setting it when I'm actually working is a no go if I leave the room for an hour or so. Is there any way to (without 3rd party software) to stop the auto-update restart? I'd like for windows to just give me a notification about possible updates (now it just siais it will restart in x amount of time) so I could restart my laptop when I choose. Metered connection trick wont work because I need onedrive to work propperly (unless I can make it sync on metered connections) P.S. I use windows Home edition.
  2. Thanks for confirming this it saved me 40+ euros on new RAM P.S. How can I close this thread/label it as answered? Or Mods do that?
  3. This is the scan http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/scanview/4A7A190331D926C3 here it shows I can't upgrade RAM https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/ssd-upgrades/asus/laptop/x551ca
  4. Hello everybody I was wondering whether I can swap RAM on my laptop. I have ASUS X551CA-SX024D, whilst looking on the net I found that some X551CA laptops have soldered RAM to the motherboard. Where can I check if mine is too? (ASUS manuals are of no help) Thanks!
  5. Thank you very much! Looking through RAM I found an extra variable - frequency and I don't whether it will cause a compatibility issue. For example I found this RAM Kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL11 SODIMM 1.5V which is at 1.6 GHz will it work with my laptop?
  6. btw any tips on other components that are upgrade-able? I know you can add/change RAM, but anything else that could increase performance?
  7. Np. I'm rather new to tech. details so I get honestly confused
  8. You mean these? 275GB|SATA|Write speed 500 MBytes/sec|Read speed 530 MBytes/sec|Form Factor M.2|Drive thickness 3.5mm|MTBF 1500000 hours and 275GB|SATA|Write speed 510 MBytes/sec|Read speed 530 MBytes/sec|Form Factor 2,5"|Drive thickness 7mm their price is nearly identical so is there any real difference between them? P.S. I have windows 10 and I'd like to keep the OS so I'll try to just clone the drive (that's step 2 )
  9. Hello, I want to switch my laptop HDD to an SSD. I have ASUS x511c laptop. I would like ~250 GB SSD for ~100 euros. What should I know before doing this? How to tell if the new drive will fit (I read somewhere that I would need an adapter of sorts)? I should be looking for an SSD with a SATA connection, right? I will use it for gaming and running programs (R commander, Clampfit, etc.) I would be very grateful for any other tips, mentioning of potential pitfalls etc. since this SSD will blow my years budget anyhow
  10. How about getting a mechanical generator and a suitable battery. You can hook it up to an exercise bike or something and get a workout you'll also be doing your health a favor by only gaming as long as the exercise powered PC can hold Beside that your other options are solar or thermal generators, that generate electricity from heat (and no you can't break even energy wise and build a perpetual machine with this).
  11. Chronic sleep deprivation teenagers get because of school starting times (usually it starts too early) and how it affects productivity. It's good because there is a lot of hard data and it's something to which you can easily add your own personal experience (makes it easy to write/improv the speech)
