Yay, my JVC HR-S5950 is now working flawlessly again. i fixed the tracking last night, and i relubricated the mechanism a bit today so that now it no longer spits tapes back out when you try to insert them.

it's working flawlessly and i'm happy, just in time too, i ordered the first few pokemon movies on VHS so i can watch those using this VCR when they arrive.

What lubricant did you use? I have two VCRs that need some love but I don't want to break them... Was there any tutorial in particular that helped you?

@redteam4ever i use used some stuff that my dad had in his workshop... i didn't follow a tutorial, i just looked what parts had the old grease (that had turned yellow and nasty) on them and relubed those parts, jsut going for it really not knowing if it would help but it now accepts tapes without spitting them back out or making a weird noise so i assume it's worked.

I watched this tutorial on YouTube but didn't have the time yet... I already had the cover off mine but the mechanism is covered by PCBs so it won't be easy to get there. I just hope that I won't electrocute myself, there are some bulky caps that can hold charge for a long time :/ Anyway, I wish you a lot of fun with your renewed VCR :)
