  1. i am using Windows 10 and i have a application for work that was originally made for windows 98/XP that i cannot get to open on my PC. on other PC's it opens just fine. but my desktop and laptop will not open the app. it instantly crashes (error 1000) in event viewer. fixes i have tried 1. sfc scannow in CMD 2. making sure windows is on latest update. 3. checking properties of application to make sure they match from one PC to another 4. run in admin/compatibility mode for older versions of windows I'm not sure if there are any other solutions/ since it is for work they will not allow it to be run on an old operating system since that might compromise the network and it requires network access. please im sure someone on the forum has much more knowledge about this than i do. Thank you!
  2. Just found this article. Idk if it will help or not. But before reading this. Did u make sure and use DDU to uninstall ur graphics drivers and restart. Before trying a different version?(if not id definitely do that first) https://softwarekeep.com/help-center/how-to-fix-video-tdr-failure-atikmpagsys
  3. U should have enough head room to run a rx580, as long as ur not over clocking it. But running it stock should be fine.
  4. maybe you had a bad unit or something, I've been running a CV550 for almost 3 years no problem, while overclocking and never had any kind of power issues
  5. yea thats part of the project also. but thats why i was trying to iron out the hardware details first
  6. i just dropped ur specs in a PSU calculator, and honestly as long as u dont plan on over clocking or just light over clocking. a 500w should be more than enough with room to spare. but id go with cooler master or corsair. if not only because they are more recognizable brands. and probably have a better product. and i have a corsair cv 550w semi modular and its been running good for years now
  7. yea i've also read that, it must be enabled at the bios level to work properly, yea when i do eventually upgrade ill just go with something that has native thunderbolt
  8. the main reason is im going to transplant my pc into a server chassis, and hide it away in my closet and i would like that one cable solution for video and usb connection. but it seems like ill just have to wait til i upgrade to do that
  9. ok so i have an older am running an older Asus 970 series motherboard, with an fx series processor. i also have a second hand thunderbolt 3 dock. i was looking into getting a thunderbolt 3 add in card to use it. but i keep seeing people say they have issues with TB3 cards working on pcie gen 2 connectors. I'm currently happy with my system, and not looking to upgrade soon. so does anyone have any experience with this? also if i plugged the TB3 dock into a type c(non-TB3) port would the usb still pass through to the dock, im pretty sure the display wouldn't. but just curious. TB3 dock: dell WD15 motherboard: Asus 970 pro/gaming aura
  10. Yea, not a problem. And now u have the overhead for later on if u want to add a graphics card u dont have to worry about needing more power
  11. Yea just out of general use id say min 400w or 450w even if u don't need it all its better to have a little bit of head room. Because ur cpu ram and drives probably use more than 220w or really close to it
  12. Just curious if u solved your issue?
  13. at this point it seems like either the power supply might be bad or motherboard might have been shorted out in some way. i think the best option at this point is to take it to professional, who will be able to diagnose it better in person
  14. i personalty use the usb tool from the Microsoft website, to make a bootable usb drive. but ive never had an issue with it needing to be a uefi bios(just my experience)
  15. yea im not gonna lie they are defiantly easier to find here in the states. id try craigslist or even facebook market place thats where i found mine at
