  1. is there any reason why you'd choose to upgrade your CPU instead of your graphics card? You'd see more benefit in gaming from upgrading that as opposed to getting a new CPU and RAM.
  2. I have a laptop with thunderbolt 3 so I was thinking of using an eGPU enclosure to improve gaming performance. Considering that it's only limited to 4 PCIE lanes, at what point does the graphics card become significantly bottlenecked by this? (assuming ideal conditions, no other bottlenecks and using a display connected to the graphics card). Thanks in advance
  3. 50 on the outside, 60-80 on the inside. Pants are too mainstream
  4. So I have an HP Omen laptop (15-CE097NX). I'm using it for medium use (few browser windows, spotify, some word processing, discord etc). The fans refuse to ramp up despite the laptop being about 50 degrees and slowly cooking my leg. Anyone got ideas on how to force the fans to ramp up?
  5. Not even close, I only about 20% of the space on my main SSDs on all computers, sounds stupid but, just a thing I do
  6. Ffs, "patch", time to rollback
  7. Yep, done that, even did the subfolders and stuff. Says files in use (obviously). Why'd it do that in the first place?
  8. Oh it's not just that, it's the whole OS drive, has the strange blue arrows pointing inwards
  9. So, windows has managed to compress all my files and now certain things (windows hello for example) have stopped working. Even tried fresh installing so, no clue why it's still doing this unwanted yet intended thing.
  10. Yeah but it liked that port for a whole year
  11. So recently my BenQ XL2730Z has had issues with turning black randomly, still being detected by windows and all, just showing a black screen. I was troubleshooting and all and then switched from one displayport connector on my card to another and it seems to have fixed the issue. Has this happened to anyone before?
  12. So... My main monitor won't work anymore (the second works fine). It's detected by windows and all, but all that's shown on screen is a black screen Main monitor: BenQ XL2730Z Second Monitor: Dell S1715H Graphics Card: Asus GTX 1080ti ROG Strix OC Driver: Whatever the latest one is
  13. You could just use this: https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
  14. In my experience, at 1440p with a 4690k and a 1070. The CPU did bottleneck the graphics card slightly even while overclocked. However, the bottleneck wasn't very severe and at worst, it dropped the graphics card to 70-80% usage.
  15. If I was put in this situation I would -Copy the data from the hard drive into an external hard drive -Install windows on the SSD -Format the hard drive -Then move the data back onto the hard drive but if you have to clone the hard drive onto the SSD then it should work if you use some software from the manufacturer of the SSD
  16. Like, an internal USB2.0 connector hub for more internal USB2.0 connectors? Or an external hub?
  17. I'd personally spend the little money needed to jump to a 970 evo just to run 2 less cables in an SFF build. While the B3 450w is enough, I do think it's cutting it close and the 550w model is barely any more money.
  18. My 4690k just barely bottlenecked a 1070, just barely. So, I believe that a 1080 might be slightly bottlenecked by a 4690k. However, I don't think it'll be to the degree that it'll be a deal breaker
  19. Well, whatever, clock speed you dialed in the BIOS is what the correct one should be. Additionally, the lower clocks could just be power management features unless you disabled those
  20. 300$ is short even for a desktop. Even topend laptops over 2000$ struggle to stay upgradeable
  21. My screen so far has no issues but I'm sure the tech giant that is HP would have a decent warranty policy and fix it pretty smoothly if it is defective. As far as the brightness goes, the matte IPS panel isn't super bright but i can easily read it under normal use (in my room). However, outdoor performance is questionable. On the other hand, most other laptops at this price point have equal or worse screens as far as I'm aware of
  22. What game is bottlenecked by a 1080ti in 1080p? I mean, obviously 1080 means it was meant for 1080p *sarcasm*
  23. I'd honestly just RAID 0 it, the chances of drive failure double but honestly I doubt it'll really be much of a detriment to your life if you have to reinstall everything. However, on the performance side, it won't be much of a benefit but it's just bragging rights and slightly faster load times.
