Lol 4.4GHz base.  Found that screenshot online.

It's an Intel Jaketown Everest made for high frequency stock trading.  I traded for one, but it's arriving in a few weeks unfortunately.  I'll be sure to post here once I get it tested out.

Currently, I'm running a server with dual E5430s running at 2.66GHz for this BOINC pentathlon.

EDIT:  How are y'all getting those badges?

Get outta here with your fancy unlocked multiplier. We only deal in locked multipliers here.

Yup, I'm running NFS currently on my server.  Two E5430s though.

We are not really taking part in thataspect of the pent, try WCG(OpenZIKA0 or yoyo for best effect for our team

Seti doesn't use too much Ram, but some others do.  NFS for example uses a ton.
You can use just the CPU but you will do a lot more work, and have access to other tasks, if you include a GPU.
I suggest looking at r/boing or the boinc home page.  They have a TON of info there.

Love the sarcasm in the second quote.  I was planning on paying my parents a monthly bill of whatever the cost is to run my server 24/7 monthly.

They won't leave me alone about the noise it makes.  You can hardly hear it when the door is closed.  Noise is a big issue with the 1950.

As for the purpose of the sever, I'm planning on running BOINC and using it to (host?) files on a website I made.  I want to be able to do something useful with my server.

No problem. You can find out a lot with some crappy hardware that came out of an office and a 1500 € gaming rig

It will gain almost as much as the difference between your card and a fe 1080. The ftw ultra is a great choise from the 1070 ti linup. Will overclock great and evga still gives you warrenty when overclocking a card from them. Pascal cards are hardly breakable with overclocking.

And it wont bottleneck exept for cpu heavy games

and for the record, a sc has worse power delivery then a ftw. believe me, I know that for sure

Windows might have installed a basic driver or just being stupid and saying you have the best driver just because it has no drivers, or something went wrong with the uninstallation. Do you have connection?

You would run the games max settings (mostly) no problem, so better FPS overall. Also, the GTX 1070 is considerably better than the RX 580, which competes with the GTX 1060 6GB.

The problem is not the GPU, but rather a driver issue, as you said, the network driver. Let LatencyMon run and organize it by DPC and see which driver(s) has the highest DPC, that's the culprit. On my notebook, one of the drivers would just spike to millions of DPC.

Well, try to just delete and reinstall the same version then. I remember it was a pain to solve on my notebook.

LatencyMon is the software, just found it, luckily.

Oh shit, I've seen that before. I can't remember the name, but look for a program to check latency per process. My old notebook had an issue caused by something on Windows 10 that caused insane process interruption, it was easily using 20-50% of the CPU in the task manager. There's a driver issue in your PC, the most common is the network driver, but might be USB aswell. Now you'll have to discover which driver is f*cked up and try to update it.

This is mine on Assetto Corsa, your virtual memory commited is much higher, but doesn't seem to be the problem. Try reinstalling your GPU's drivers with DDU.

HWInfo shows pagefile usage, which might be the key.

No AFAIK, just use HWInfo for it.

Probably not, but will make Windows and all the programs you put on it load considerably better, making the whole system more responsive and pleasant to use. Look at how much VRAM you're using and if you're maxing out the GPU's VRAM (4GB), and check how much RAM you're using, and also how much pagefile is being used in the task manager or preferably in HWInfo to see if you're using more memory than you have.

Edit: The SSD might solve it since it would be a faster "extra RAM" than the HD, but that's not a solution, just a better band-aid.

Honestly, I don't know enough about Optane to recommend it or not, so I think you would be better off with a SSD. I plan on doing caching through Windows on my 2TB HD, but not with just 32GB like an Optane has, but with another 240GB SSD just for caching, so I don't think 32GB can do much tbh.

SSD will just make your life better, you'll be happier in life with a SSD, just give it a try.

Audio cutting is usually related to CPU bottleneck given my experience with it, but doesn't make sense to lag in Assetto Corsa with that CPU, looks like a VRAM/RAM issue to me, although this game isn't VRAM/RAM heavy AFAIK, any other programs open in the background and maybe resolution/textures/AA too high? Check your VRAM/RAM usage with MSI Afterburner and try to see what happens with your hardware when it lags. A new GPU would be nice, but you REALLY need a SSD first. I recommend you buying a cheaper GTX 1070 Ti, it's the best option of the bunch.
