  1. I usually try displayspecs.com Unfortunately they don't list the panel for this display. Maybe look up teardowns of this monitor (or similar ones) and see if you can open it yourself and check which panel is being used
  2. try copying files over the network and see what kinds of speeds you are getting, this will help narrow down the issue
  3. Oh I was referring to raptor lake when compared to alder lake
  4. Hi. I currently have a core i3-6098 and h110m mobo. Yes, it's very slow for editing and blender. I'm upgrading my platform soon. I have to buy a motherboard today, and will wait until zen3+ (probably) to buy a CPU. I'm waiting in hopes of scoring a sweet discount. And I'm a little conflicted. Please read my entire post before replying with a recommendation thx Until last week I was gonna go B550, for sure. But then I saw a leak that the 12400f was gonna be less than 200 bucks and edges out the 5600x (which is the CPU I was thinking of getting) in PugetBench. And apparently there's a new coin on the block Raptoreum, which is gonna balloon the price of zen3 and zen3+. I hate all PoW crypto and refuse to mine or buy any due to its environmental impact (so buying zen3+ and then mining, is out of the question). I also want an upgrade path. With b550 it's easy. I can get Ryzen 3xxx or 5xxx and upgrade to a higher core count without any issues, cuz the power consumption at stock is not too high. With Alder lake and z690 the difference between a 12600k and 12900k isn't that big, but I don't know about raptor lake. Also power consumption is said to be better but how much better, since they'll be adding more E-Cores next year. ATM my Scythe Fuma 2 cannot keep a 12700k cool, let alone a 12900k. So here's my conundrum. Also if you are wondering, why don't I just wait and buy a board and CPU together, well shipping a motherboard will cost me around 70usd. Shipping a CPU and something small like RAM will only cost me 40 bucks. Also for some reason there's no import tax on the CPU but there's a good chunk on the mobo. So I'm ordering a mobo now with my aunt who I'll be visiting in the hols. So free shipping and no taxes on the board. I've waited long enough to upgrade my CPU and wanna get rid of this dual core 'beast' . Please help me decide

  6. If you can live with the gt630 until you get a decent price on a gpu, get the 5600x.
  7. Do you mind having an audio interface? If not then get a used audio interface (or the m-audio duo, it doesn't cost too much new) and get a cheap Behringer Dynamic (xm8500) or if you like condensers, then I use the Takstar CM60 (aliexpress, great mic for 25 bucks)
  8. If you like cooler VRMs, go with the Gaming edge, the mATX boards (the majority) don't have Vrms that are as good as the MSI gaming edge. Steve from Hardware Unboxed did a 3 part comparison, go check it out P1: P2: P3:
  9. Cool. Gonna finish my exams tomorrow and then I'll watch AHOC to see what on earth all those things in my BIOS refer to
  10. I'll do that and see if anything changes, will b back in a bit
  11. ok, can I tighten the timings? Or is it not possible with this cpu btw these are the same sticks. I just bought them at different times.
  12. I prefer Ryzen cuz it's more efficient and a little bit faster in games. If you use CUDA in Blender, the you could also go with a 5600x and the 3070. You have to see which programs you use and how different configs will affect your work/play
  13. Check the PSU tier list on this forum. And then just read the reviews on the store incase the unit you like has too many returns or something. Just avoid the gigabyte PSUs for the moment, they are exploding
  14. The issue with smaller PSUs is their capacitance (don't know the exact term). The 3080 and 3090 are known to pull a lot of power very suddenly, if that happens and your PSU cannot keep up, your computer will probably shut down. It should be fine on extended loads, but sudden spikes may tigger OPP or OCP (again, don't know the correct term)
  15. For Blender, go with 5800x. Cuz this way if you ever have the need to, you can upgrade to the 5950x or the upcoming zen 3+ chip (the one with 3d cache). If you play games a lot more and really want the frames... then the 3070 is better. Also, avoid Dell.
  16. https://valid.x86.fr/tcsh82 Here's the CPUz validation link. I'll upload photos of CPUz to show what I'm talking about. I have no idea how memory overclocking works, I never bothered to learn cuz my platform doesn't support it, or so I thought. I opened up the bios to find lots of options that can be changed. I didn't change anything cuz I know my CPU doesn't support it (I think). q1, can I atleast set my ram to the same speed? q2, can I tighten the timings?
  17. Ok. I guess I'll turn 2fa off. Btw, what do you use?
  18. Getting the QR and saving it onto my PC should be a piece of cake... Are you sure it will work, if the host app has has been uninstalled?
  19. G'day peeps. So my phone is gotten very slow and I'm gonna factory reset it. I'm not quite sure how to move the Google Authenticator codes back on to my phone once I'm done. I saw you could export it, but all it gives me is a QR code (which I think is to be used to transfer it to another device). So I'm not quite sure how this is gonna work. Any help will be appreciated
