  1. THD ratios look at distortion and noise divided by signal, which results in a very small number like 0.001%, which is -100dB, whereas SNR looks at signal divided by noise, which results in a large number, like 100,000, or 100 dB. From MSI website: World's best onboard Hi-Fi GAMING audio Having superior sound quality while gaming is the decisive factor between a kill or be killed. The MSI Z97 GAMING 9 AC motherboard comes with a premium hi-fi sound card, delivering studio-grade audio quality, onboard! 2. NZXT are good. It took me a lot of searching to try to figure out which has the most silent pump on the available AIO coolers. I knew I was going to replace the fans anyway so I didn't care how much noise they made. I just wanted the most silent pump. Turned out that was the Nepton 280L (at the time). There may be something even better by now, not sure. 140mm are usually more silent with better airflow also.
  3. There are lots of quiet fans but if they have low airflow, then what's the point. Akasa Apache 140mm were DEAD silent on my old rad, even when gaming OC'd. Compare CFM for airflow (higher is better) and dB for noise (lower is better) on Frozen CPU and manufacturers sites to find what suits you. I cannot hear anything under 30dB and I sleep next to my computer. Usually you want over 60 CFM for any kind of significant airflow. Then...if you choose PWM fans, they will be temperature controlled through your motherboard and a PWM fan hub/controller. I know I have the most expensive Noctuas but I rarely ever hear them at all. Oh and don't be thrown off by any low ratings, these products were high quality and top notch. I would give 5/5 on both...some people just don't know what the hell they are doing! http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10345/fan-675/Akasa_120mm_x_25mm_Apache_Black_Super_Silent_PWM_Fan_w_Hydro_Dynamic_Bearings_-_Black.html?tl=c365s936b181 http://www.frozencpu.com/products/20988/ele-1196/Swiftech_8-Way_PWM_Cable_Splitter_-_SATA_Power_8W-PWM-SPL-ST.html?tl=c251s1325b33
  4. Phobya Nano 2G - I used to own these and even put them through their paces on a rad, they were very silent http://www.frozencpu.com/products/13534/fan-887/Phobya_120mm_x_25mm_Nano-2G_1500rpm_PWM_Fan_-_Red_LED.html?tl=c331s518b189
  5. ...with two 980's it's 486W, that's 980's...970's are 446W on an all SSD build
  6. You need EVGA Titanium 1600W for a build of that caliper...kidding...850W is future proof OC'd with 980 SLI...with SSD's...one 980 only comes to 321W on PC Part Picker build!
  7. Between the two I would pick Fractal...or Nanoxia with Noctua
  8. Never even heard of that being done. If 4 monitors are running off the 970 then they get no performance benefit from the 980's? By auxillary monitors do you mean monitors NOT used for gaming? Thank you for teaching me that this was even possible but I'm still a bit confused about the purpose/need for so many monitors. I would be happy with the ROG Swift...if you have money to burn please buy me one! I will gladly pay you Tuesday for an ROG Swift today! Anyways...you should be saving for March 2015! http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-g-sync-worlds-first-144hz-ips-monitor-unveiled
  9. I have to admit that the aesthetics are not the best but I care more about cooling performance and lowered temps when overclocking. On this case you can do a crazy amount of rads and fans...and most importantly to me...it is 140mm friendly. I have been waiting forever for a case where I can mount my CM Nepton 280L anywhere other than the top (since heat rises). Beyond that, I can create a ridiculous amount of positive air pressure using Noctua 140mm's and exhaust heat out the top as every case SHOULD be doing!
  10. Yeah, somewhat similar to my design but the ODD on mine was done much better, no mesh either.
  11. Guestimating $999.99 or higher, hope I am wrong. It wilI be better than ROG Swift @ $799.99...so yeah. Even reading the reviews for ROG Swift, users are loving G-Sync. I just hope BenQ does a version of the screen cuz I love my BenQ. If they do though it will probably be even more expensive : (
  12. buy another K70 and don't put liquids anywhere near it
  13. All-around mic - $99 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM57 Vocals - $230 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NT1AAnniv
  14. Yes studio headphones are something I forgot to mention...Audio Technica or Sennheiser HD Studio (280, 380,etc.) are a good starting point and they don't really replace studio monitors but you may be able to squeak by for awhile. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1421851296&sr=8-10&keywords=sennheiser+studio+headphones You can either use a closet as a vocal booth and riddle the walls and ceiling with absorbers, diffusers, etc. or just get something like this... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ReflexionX Make sure you use a carpeted room for recording, carpet works great as sound absorption on floor. Room with vaulted ceiling whenever possible can also work wonders.
