  1. hyberfil.sys is for the hybernation, something that you can disable if you want and you can reduce the side of your page file if you want. google them, you'll find easy directions.
  2. The tool is windirstat is great for this: https://windirstat.info/ I bet the files are hyberfil.sys and pagefile.sys if you google them you can find out options for removing them Good luck
  3. I havn't used a sm951 but I have an intel 750, It's not noticible during normal tasks just big reads and writes, I would say that I get way better "value" out of an EVO which I own a few of.
  4. I don't think so but I honestly don't know, In my house Ambient would typicaly have been 13 to 18 degrees C, and I had the radiators right out of the case to get fresh air, not heated air. They were seriously a significant part of my heating bill (I lived in northern canada). If ambient temps are low and there is good airflow you will probably be fine, but even if it throttles a little there is still no single card better for PPD except maybe titan x. Sorry I can't give more info, I'm moving and everything is in boxes, otherwise I'd check for you.
  5. I've had 3 295x2s running and they are PPD beasts, but they are also full blown space heaters I find 65 degrees and 500 watts hard to believe, though I've never actully tested wattage I know they were way more than 65 degrees (Also they were not all in the same system so I had 2 card slots between the dual card system).
  6. It refers to the fact that all chips may have different max overclocks. For example you could build two identical systems both with a 4790k in them. One might OC to over 5Ghz, and the other may not get past 4.7Ghz all on the same settings. You might say that you did well in the silicon lottery for the 1st chip and badly with the second.
  7. Yes, Gopher has a great set of videos on using mod organizer:
  8. I don't have a solution to your problem, but have you considered using mod organizer? A lot of people including myself like it a lot better for bethesda games. I does have a bit more of a learning curve than mod manager though.
  9. Thanks Whaler! I'll try to get some but keep your expectations very low, My building skills are not impressive at all, I don't even have the 295x2 rads mounted, they are just hanging out the side. I hear you on the temperature front, I'm moving to Houston Texas in 5 months, and I think that my folding will come to a screeching halt when that happens.
  10. I have them spread-over 4 machines, an x79 based, x58 based, and 2 core 2 Duo systems. As for cash I have a pretty well paying job and no dependents, I don't spend a significant portion on my income on this. I think folding on laptops is a bad idea anyway, they are just not equipped to deal with the excess heat. Build your rig, then get to it. OK, so it's not actually doing anymore "work", or useful research than the normal app? I guess I won't change my approach. I think I have to message someone to get it, I will do that sometime.
  11. No, And I spend a fair bit on it. I at least live in northern canada, right now it's -14C outside, so the excess heat helps a lot, though it's more expensive than using the gas furnace.
  12. This is a good point, I'm like #17 on the team when sorted by work unit. What are you doing to maximize WU? why don't you get points with your approach? It seems more useful to society to do what you are doing than to do what I am doing. To be honest I've never spent much time figuring out the details of folding I just run the program whenever the computers are idle. Right now I've got the 3 tittans, 3 295X2s, and 1 7970 folding, but you are right that I also have another 7970 and two 680s, should probably sell them, or get them working too.
  13. I'm also on the lots of GPU's approach, I don't even have any of my CPU's fold, it's not worth the electricity. My biggest single machine has a pair of 295x2's in it and produces about 850,000 a day. I don't recommend them though, unless you also want a space heater, wasn't a cost effective decision either, but it's kinda nice to have a high end machine from both team green and team red. Does anyone know why Kakao stats is shutting down? or what it would take to keep it going?
  14. I've had 7970's coexisting with 680s used 680 as display driver, no problems, I installed the 680's 1st then the amd cards. So I guess a variety of setups are possible, but I imagine that some drivers and generations of cards may not play nice together.
