Apple announces HomePod a smart MUSIC speaker
SirRoderick replied to THeEmpire.01's topic in Tech News
The Apple speaker seems a TAD overpriced, I must say. Since it's main competition, the Echo, is so much lower. For people that just want a wireless speaker and like Apple this would be an option. On the topic of Hi-Fi stuff, I would never consider thousands of euros worth of audio equipment, I just stick to the level where things are good enough for me to never notice anything lacking. For me that's the Phillips Fidelio X2 right now. I just don't have the income for that sort of stuff, more than anything. If I had that cash it would go to a car or a home. -
I would just like to say I appreciate both Jim Sterling and TB for their honest and pro-consumer coverage of the games industry, they are sorely needed. Doesn't seem fair only the people with grudges tend to post about them.

The channel page, with all the stupid bloody faces and clicky titles, actually makes me cringe now. So yeah, I can't judge their business direction but the feel of the channel is definitely a turnoff these days.

Regardless of whether or not any of that is true, Pence decried Clinton's use of personal email before any of that was investigated. the hypocrisy is present and accounted for. I don't want to be perceived as defending Clinton's practices here, let that be clear.

More of an issue is how he was using email the same way Clinton was, but Pence did call for Clinton to be prosecuted based on that fiasco. Clinton was equally using her email perfectly legally. So yes it is legal, but he's also a massive hypocrite.

I personally always buy files I can download, instead of using streaming services. Partly mobile data restrictions and partly reliable high-quality. Even regular 320Kbps MP3 files from bandcamp are a step up, I think.

Germany bans children's doll over spying fears
SirRoderick replied to SydneySideSteveSomewheres's topic in Tech News
Don't suppose you're Belgian like me? We got those nutters as well, think everything will be solved by throwing a selfish tantrum and cutting half the country off. I mean I am hardly a radical socialist, but jeez guys. -

Asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants. At least use the correct labels for the people your argument is based on. As for Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/welcome/ Turns out most 1st world countries are inhabited by decent human beings that don't turn away refugees. Even Switzerland recently voted to relax citizenship rules. -
Germany bans children's doll over spying fears
SirRoderick replied to SydneySideSteveSomewheres's topic in Tech News
You know that, per definition, an illegal immigrant is undocumented right? Which means they can't apply for housing or healthcare aid. Because they would need to be registered. So your taxes don't help them at all, your taxes only go to legal residents of Germany. In addition, those illegal residents are still paying taxes (especially sales tax). So really, there's an argument to be made for them to be net positives. Lastly, good luck finding a country where the quality of life is as good as in Germany, you can really only downgrade. Especially if the people there are as distrustful of immigrants as you are, since you'll be one of those. -
Seems like a funky issue you have there, a google dug up this: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/52f63fb2-387c-4ae1-99c8-5cf996de4c34/windows-8-explorerexe-blank-message-on-startup?forum=w8itprogeneral People there seem to be able to fix it. So try following those steps.

keyboard Gaming mouse vs Mechanical keyboard?
SirRoderick replied to Petikeki's topic in Peripherals
Definitely get a solid mouse that you like, will help you a lot more. Logitech rodents come in many prices and flavours, have a look at their G402.- 10 replies

What do YOU want to see back in the PC building mainstream
SirRoderick replied to littlepigboy5's topic in General Discussion
Clean design, AMD CPU competitiveness and less of a focus on the ludicrous idea that everything needs to be housed in a tiny and flimsy housing. This whole thinness at all costs thing has really gotten silly. Not to mention it just drives environmentally harmful developments, less of that too please.- 49 replies

Possible to turn a Micro SIM into a Nano SIM?
SirRoderick replied to AlTech's topic in Phones and Tablets
They charge you for a SIM replacement? How scummy. They cost barely anything to hand out.
