  1. If you're willing to do used phones you can get some good deals on Swappa. There's a pixel 7 currently going for about $300. There are other similar deals depending on what you want but you could get flagship quality within your budget going used.
  2. Currently using an iPhone 13 mini. It's been great so far and I had an iPhone X beforehand that was fantastic. The only reason I switched to this phone was my X started randomly powering on and off and it wasn't battery related. Prior to that I used a de-googled nexus 6p and honestly I think about going back to that phone a lot or getting a newer android phone and de-googling it because it really helped with internet addiction but haven't pulled that trigger again yet.
  3. It makes sense that they're going up because they're only getting older but it is surprising how high they are. You can try and score some deals on something like eBay or locally if someone is just trying to dump their system. Since you're using Citra, I assume you're cool with modding the system to sail the high seas and play games that way. In that case, you could look at sites like Sendico and buy a Japanese unit for, typically, way less. You can just mod it to take the region locking off and you've got a good deal.
  4. So I recently got into a MSBA program and am in need of a new laptop. The specs they ask for are easy enough to follow but I'm not sure what is really good out there. I haven't bought a laptop or really engaged with PC upgrades in a long time, 7 years for the laptop and it was a MacBook. I'm hoping to keep the budget at $1500 tops. Ideally good battery life if possible, but I know performance and battery life are not exactly best friends. Any help or recommendations would be highly appreciated thank you. Edit: Also obviously the cpu is negotiable, intel or ryzen it doesn't matter, just included it to give an idea of what is expected. Along with that I don't do a ton of gaming on the laptop, most is Overwatch 2 and tabletop simulator. The specs the school is recommending are listed below: Recommended Processor Intel i7 3.0 GHz, 64-bit, with 4 cores RAM 16 GB Hard Drive Capacity 1 TB Graphic Card* NVIDIA Graphics Card (CUDA enabled) such as from the list on the web page below https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus#collapse4 Wireless Connectivity 802.11 b/g Ethernet Wired Connection Yes Ethernet Cable Yes Operating System 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 No Home or Student Versions
  5. Budget (including currency): $600 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily looking at Elden Ring and the eventual Monster Hunter World 2, otherwise Overwatch 2 and games similar. Light coding as well. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): As far as relevant parts for performance I have a 600W Power supply at the moment and what is prompting this upgrade is I was given a Ryzen 5 3400g and 32gb of Corsair Vengence Pro RAM at 3200 mhz for free to upgrade from my FX 8350. A friend is selling his 2070 for $400 but I know that the 3400g will be a bit of a bottleneck at 1080p 60hz. I still need a motherboard and potentially a new power supply but what do you guys think? Should I spring for the 2070 and a better cpu or continue to wait and just rock the 3400g with my gtx 970 for a while? What motherboard would you recommend as well? Looking to spend $100 or below on the motherboard if possible.
  6. Very true. I appreciate that I think I was caught up in the oooh shiny factor of getting a new phone haha.
  7. Ikr? Does not feel like it was 4 years ago. Very true that's fairly affordable probably just going to stick with that.
  8. Alright honestly that's what I was leaning more towards just kind of drawn in by the "oooh shiny" factor of a new phone. Yea aside from the battery the condition is pretty mint. Most likely just going to chuck in a new battery and replace the case, had the same one for four years and it is pretty rough now.
  9. I have an iPhone X and recently the battery life has kind of tanked. The other night I left my house at 90% and was gone for only half an hour and when I got back home it was at 72%, and that type of draining has more or less continued since then. After checking the battery health it's saying to service and now I'm debating whether or not it is time to upgrade. Prior to this battery issue the phone did pretty much everything I wanted it to do, texting, email, and things like that with minimal content consumption. Not married to sticking with iPhones but the only phone that looked worth it to me right now was the 13 mini as any interesting android phones are too expensive. What do you guys think? Worth putting in a new battery and sticking with the phone for another year or two or just upgrade now? Also if anyone knows any good deals on new phones I'm in the US on Verizon for a potential upgrade.
  10. Alright so for this use case the NF-S12A is probably the better option since it can move the same amount of air at lower rpm and the NF-A12x25 would be better as an intake fan? Yea I have noticed that before as I used to have an intake that was the same as my current exhaust, admittedly mounted with rubber bands and zip ties, and it wasn't nearly as loud as the back one is.
  11. It didn't but I'm just using the case converted to atx. My motherboard has a 3 and 4 pin headers.
  12. The title pretty much says it all. I'm in need of a new exhaust fan and my main priority is silence. My current exhaust is pretty loud, especially under load, so I'm trying to find one that would remain at least decently quiet under load. I have a pretty open case, Powermac g5, so sound gets through. This would also be my only other fan in the case rn aside from my cpu cooler and graphics cards for a while longer until I get the mount for front fans from laser hive. Which one would you guys recommend?
  13. Would you say that the extra money for the 6xx is worthwhile compared to the 58x? I am a fan that the cable on all these is removable as that is what the issue with the 419s is. I am a fan that the 4.30s are much cheaper haha and if they sound similar to the 419 that's a plus. Thank you very much for your recommendations.
  14. Yea that's what I was worried about on potentially switching to a different brand. I've heard a lot of buzz about the HD58X on Drop along with the 6XX and if the 6 is a substantial upgrade I wouldn't mind the extra money but everything I've read makes it seem like it's a slight upgrade. I've never really used open backed headphones before. All my headphones, personal and ones through work, have all been closed back. I'm open to switching if the sound experience is that good for the upgrade over my current set. Would you say it's a massive difference between the two standards?
  15. My HD 419s died after 8 years of use and I'm #heartbroken. I'm not particularly interested in buying a used set so I'm in the market for a new set and looking for recommendations. I loved the sound of the 419s and they were really comfortable for long use sessions. I'm looking up to $200 for wired or around $300 for wireless but I don't particularly care to get wireless ones. I primarily use them at my desk for gaming and very occasional video editing, with a rare coffee shop work session. Any suggestions for a pair with a similar sound or that performed as good as the 419s?
