  1. Maybe you should actually look into the host of Bully Hunters, before you go off on a rant. Yes, a large ad agency went together with Steelseries to start an anti bully campaign. Nothing wrong with that. However, it went of rails the second Zombie Unicorn got involved. She's the one spouting the nonsense of millions of women being harassed. She is also the one who ended up harassing a lot of people herself, which is why this entire project was completely derailed to begin with. If you want to lecture people, maybe, just maybe, look into things so you actually know wtf you're talking about.
  2. That is not correct. Steelseries was not the only sponsor. Vertagear and CyberpowerPC was duped too. This was yet another intersectional feminist/neo marxist driven nonsense push (21 million female gamers harassed?!?). But yes, the sponsors, like most, had in good faith joined up to support this. And like every time these ideologues try to push their nonsense, both gamers and sponsors lose out heavily. I'm glad these hacks are done. What an idiotic project from day one.
  3. As other have stated, it's impossible for AMD to prove what cooler you have used. I think this is simply a way to cover them legally if a user use an inadequate cooler. I doubt AMD will ever void your warranty if you choose a proper different cooler. That being said, it's pretty bad if AMD will use it as a bs excuse to not warrant their products.
  4. Sounds like an OS for thin clients or basic workstations where limited amount of software is needed.
  5. I wouldn't even pay that much for a new phone. So don't get an XPS. Get a zenbook or something. Obviously a large latop screen panel is more expensive than a tiny OLED mobile panel. I get the different use cases og smartphones and laptops, but man, the iPhone is stupidly expensive. The 256GB costs the same here as a Titan Xp.
  6. There's pricey phones, and then there's the iPhone X. That thing is so stupidly expensive, you can get quite a good ultrabook in high quality for that amount of money. Such an overpriced product.
  7. Not sure. Neo marxism is a bit different. It's also called intersectional feminism and sjw as a general term. But I'm with you, I chose to not buy the game either, as his behaviour was abysmal.
  8. Yep, he's full on SJW/neo marxist. The new "Valve" game will also be a full on virtue signalling game. The lead protagonist is even a black woman with a fro like hairdo. What's wrong with these people? Can't they just make good entertainment, without forcing identity politics down out throats? I'll bet shes lesbian too.
  9. What inferior products are you talking about? Would someone buy a vega 64 instead of a 1080ti? Probably not. Would someone get a vega 64 instead of a 1080? Probably. A 580 instead of a 1060? Probably. Look at EA. Once the consumer market turns on a company, it gets ugly fast.
  10. It can if it's illegal. But my point is, the way AMD is handling this, is less of a legal matter, and more as a marketing push. If they win a lawsuit, then what? A hundred million dollars in compensation? What if they get a huge part of the consumer base to turn against NVidia and move to AMD on their next purchase? AMD is in the fantastic situation, that they are (so far) the only company to make high end CPU's AND GPU's. That can create a synergy in buying patterns. Using this to turn the consumers against NVidia is far more of a benefit to AMD than spending millions on drawn out lawsuits... "lol".
  11. See answer below. That's exactly what is going on here. AMD only has hearsay, and as such cannot start a lawsuit. Or maybe they can and are just waiting for more concrete evidence. Either way, the GPP has already tarnished NVidia within the gaming community. Sure the fanboys defends it, but vendor agnostic consumers, who knows about this stuff, don't like what they are seeing. The vendors don't like what they are coerced into either. Just like the moronic Kepler License Program, this might end up backfiring massively on NVidia. Consumers don't like scummy business practices, regardless of the company doing it.
  12. Yes? Of course proof needs to be given. If the FTC or EUC asks for it, none of these companies (including NVidia) can refuse to deliver. EU has already kicked the butts of Microsoft, Google, Apple and Intel. NVidia is a small fry EU could easily brutalize, if they smell blood.
  13. Are there really anyone who still don't see how scummy NVidia is being here? If you don't want to extrapolate a conclusion from the flurry of information, then you just choose not to believe it. That's fine, but it is also naive. AMD would not say these things, if they don't have absolute concrete knowledge about it. Otherwise they would open themselves up to a massive lawsuit from NVidia. But NVidia has been surprisingly lame and passive in all this. That seems out of character from the company that sued every company and their mom, who used any graphics in them, trying to force them into an NVidia GPU architecture license programme. Remember that scummy practice from NVidia? I do hope AMD and the vendors will feed the FTC and EUC with this information. This is unacceptable and should not be condoned by anything, especially consumers.
  14. Everyone here understands what branding is. A lot, on the other hand, doesn't seem to understand why branding exists, or who owns the IP of said brands.
  15. Incorrect; in the original article, it stated that their primary gaming brand should be exclusively aligned with Nvidia. But since most vendors only has one gaming brand, that was the de facto outcome (see Gigabyte for instance). You have no idea what lawsuits are under way. Neither from AMD, FTC, EU Commission, civil class action or anything else. You can speculate or guess. But that is all. Consumers are limited in choice of gaming branded apparel. And considering that most GPU's sold are gamer branded, it will have an impact on choice. Specifically because the average consumer isn't as educated on the matter as we are in here. There's a reason EVERYTHING has RBG bs on it today. It's not because people don't want it. Gaming brands are very strong for the market it targets. And branding means a LOT (otherwise companies wouldn't bother with it). For instance, the highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar, costs around 300 million to make. And Fox spent around 150 million on promotions. That's one third of the entire budget spent on that movie. Yeah, it IS kinda goofy when people don't understand basic ownership of branding/IP and products. What else would you like AMD to do? They are the underdog. They have limited funds. They have to fight with whatever they got. And they are being quite good at it. When that barking dog is a watchdog alerting to something scummy, then everyone loves that dog. That is your subjective opinion. Focusing on freedom, open standards, etc. is something a lot of people care about and supports. Consumers supporting closed vendor locked in, proprietary standards, are for the most cases, blatant idiots working against their own interests for the benefits of a company. Why would any consumer do that? Because Kyle doesn't like that kind of scummy shit. And Nvidia has done nothing about it. In fact, NVidia chose to be completely silent on the matter, and put a massive gag order, the tech world hardly ever sees (sans Apple). What do you want him to criticize AMD for? Approaching this scummy business in a way, you subjectively dislike? You're overstating your own importance here. AMD is completely competitive on everything but a tiny tiny niche of the extreme upper end of cards. Nonsense. NVidia makes a processor and supplies drivers/eco system for that chip. Everything else is made by the vendor, including branding, sales channels, pricing, etc. They don't manufacturer it for others. It's their product and their branding. You're spouting nonsense.
  16. What do you mean instead of competing? Where is AMD not competing? AMD sells their chips to GPU vendors. They have no say who or what those vendors sell their cards to. In the end, it's the distributors and retailers selling the cards to miners. Price increase has nothing to do with AMD. They are not reeling in the added revenue. No vendor demands NVidia market their stuff. That is not what this entire thing is about. This is about NVidia strong arming the vendors and usurping the vendors IP (branding). It is entirely up to NVidia how they want to market things. They can just market specific models. After all, if they market ROG, they are also marketing Intel. That is their choice. How do we know? Because NVidia refuses to talk about it. Refuses to debunk it. And because every single vendor doing both branding are making those changes while being completely hermetically sealed about ANY and ALL info about the program. Extrapolating a conclusion from all the info is not difficult. No vendor would willingly choose to do this at own accord. Remember that GPP does exist, NVidia had an official announcement about it.
  17. Actually it's more straight from AMD. Because it's not NVidia's branding.
  18. https://www.hardocp.com/news/2018/04/19/scott_herkelman_confirms_nvidia_gpp_tactics Scott Herkelman, Vice President & GM Radeon Gaming at AMD:
  19. He is indeed. Mostly due to his diabetes causing him to have hes feet amputated, and having very very poor health in general. When your body doesn't work, neither will your mood or psyche. But sure, it can easily go against his credibility, and that is a fair point. However, there must be a reason why NVidia isn't just coming clean about all this nonsense.
  20. Nvidia is acting completely desperate. But it's very easy. If NVidia believes Kyle is incorrect and "paid off", they can just publish their GPP contracts. Instead of stating they are "over it", deny to talk about it at all, and preventing ALL the vendors from even acknowledging the scummy GPP. I don't know I've ever seen one company usurping control over a third parties IP like this. It's scumminess on a whole new level. Good job NVidia. This is just an ad hominem attack on kyle to try and shift focus away from GPP, and undermining Kyle's credibility. But hey, if you get caught being scummy, you might as well go full retard and all in on the scumminess, by attacking the messenger.
  21. Eh, the entire Imac Pro will probably be bricked on the next OSX update, if they replace the screen panel.
  22. I've said it before. AMD should simply ask them to make their AM4 motherboards the same branding as their RadeOn products. So for ASUS ROG, it should be AREZ Strix motherboard. That way, they can use the marketing for their AM4 systems to get mindshare for their GPU's as well.
  23. Which ones? The "standard Titan is the same chip as the 1080ti. The Titan Volta is a non gaming 3000$ card. It has no bearing on the market. Not even 1%.
