  1. It totally could be. I haven't seen the new updates on the new headsets though and i want to see how they have changed. Just because you don't like VR doesn't mean the rest of the community doesn't. LTT hasn't really done any VR content, even though it is a big change coming up in PC gaming. It might be slow to come, but eventually head mounted displays will be important for a lot of PC users and even console users. They did a Round up for the laptops, so i'm guessing that means they ran out of CES stuff and need filler while they get settled back in at the office. Not really. They do interviews, but they don't try to get any information from them. You would be just as good to listen to their PR guy talk for 5 minutes compared to watching the 6 minutes of interview that tested does every conference.
  2. Seriously did I miss something? The WAN Show before CES they asked what people wanted to see and it was monitors and VR. Sure there was a bit of monitor content, but there was only ONE VR video and it wasn't even from a VR headset. It seems like the videos from CES are all up, but they missed a ton of stuff that i would have liked to see.
  3. Living a mostly sedentary lifestyle isn't the problem. Feeling like there is no point to everyday activities because you only do them so you can do more everyday activities is a problem.
  4. Not doing things that you want to do is a symptom of depression. I can say whatever, but if you are really feeling like there is no point in doing anything you should get some help. I have been to many doctors for my own depression, and even if the anti-depressents didn't help, having someone lay out a plan to get your life together really helps. I know it's expensive in the states, but your health is worth more than a few dollars.
  5. So I'll start this off reminding you the Wii-U is a few years old already. These bugs/issues probably won't be fixed. Unboxing Impressions The wii-u is pretty simple to set up. It comes with everything you would expect it to other than a second controller. There are great instructions in the box, so you can recommend one to your less tech savy friends/family. First Boot Like most consoles it's really easy to get through all of the installs. It took me about a half an hour before I was playing Super Mario 3D Land. Most games need an update for your system and with my 50mb/s speed it took around 10 minutes to update smash brothers (You can play offline without the update). Playing with family My mom sucks at all games, even wii games, but she was immediately having fun with the rest of us playing the included Super Mario 3D Land which was the only bundle available in my region. Other third party games and even nintendo games can be more challenging. Mario cart was fine, but it was difficult for beginners to get the hang of super smash bros even with the most basic control setup (wii-mote only). Problems Up to this point I was really impressed with the console and how easy it is to have fun playing games even for 'hardcore' gamers like me that spend a good few hours a week on my favorite titles, but there are some glaring flaws. The experience of playing with only the wii-u gamepad outside the TV room is terrible. You need to put it on a stand and use a different controller to play it, but the game-pad is the best way for me to play because I need to order the gamecube adapter online due to region availability (Canada). It took me an hour to even figure out how to set it up and I was playing a game made by nintendo. Your average nintendo fan isn't going to be able to set it up without serious frustration. The IR blaster on my gamepad does not work properly. I can't use it as a remote for my TV or my cable box, and it doesn't let you manually change the signal type. You have to manually select that each one doesn't work, and samsung TVs give you over 30 options that you have to go through. Why can't I go directly to signal type 25 when I already know the rest don't work? I spent a good half hour trying to get it to work and I still had issues. I may have a broken controller, or the system doesn't work with my TV, but I have 3 TVs of different brands and none of them worked with the IR blaster. Conclusion As long as you realize that aomw of the Wii-U's 'special features' take some 'special work' to use them (and some don't work), the rest of the console is great. I don't feel ripped off at all, as it only cost 300 bucks which is only the price of a few full priced games. Lots of the accesories work from the old wii, so it doesn't feel like you are endlessley shelling out money. If you like nintendo games, you'll like the wii-U. If anything it's a great system refresh for the old wii, and helps nintendo seem less like a joke than the original wii. It still brings that childish feel, but true 1080p, a wide array of controllers, and the epic games it has are a way to make it seem like a fun party console instead of the old wii; which was fun at parties, but only because you could watch your drunk friends try to perform physical activities and fall on their butt.
  6. I don't know if that's your decision to make. It's pretty clear this isn't a budget build.
  7. I have to say I'm a fan of the OS, it looks okay from what I can see.
  8. i think this will work http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only
  9. it seems like they want you to buy it and get a exe download
  10. So I got the upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8 for free back a year ago. I checked my email and i dono't have any messages from microsoft giving me a download link. I just reinstalled my os from scratch and i don't know how to go back to windows 8. Any suggestions? UPDATE: If you are in the same boat as me. Google doesn't find microsoft support when you search for it, it should still be in your inbox if you didn't delete it.
  11. My friend owns shure dj headphones and they are very similar to these. I think just looking for open headphones is the best idea. Closed headphones will never be as good as open ones (in terms of soundstage).
  12. I haven't tried anything from corsair or steelseries. I mostly just said that the there are better gaming headsets that have mics and whatever at the same price with good enough audio quality. I would agree though, the bass is hard and balanced and the rest is pretty flat so these are a very fun pair of cans to listen to. I didn't really comment on the audio quality though because I am no audiophile expert and anything i say about sound quality should be taken similarly to my moms opinion on computers (she can use them, but doesn't care about them as long as they work well).
  13. i don't think it really makes a difference....
  14. So Here is my review on the Audtio Technica ATH-M50x So the first thing you might notice is that these have no cable, the original m50's had a fixed cable which could be bought in a coiled or a straight version. The new "x" version comes with 3 detachable cables, one is coiled, one is a short straight one (about the length of apple earbud cables) and finally a long straight one about 3 meters long. It is good enough to put into you soundcard at the back of your pc and give you plenty of room to move. The detachable cabe is actually great. I leave one in my computer, one in my guitar amp (it comes with the 1/4" adapter, though they are standard 3.5mm), and i leave my short one with my headphones. These headphones work fine on mobile and my old ipod shuffle has enough juice to make them decent (not uncomfortable, but loud enough that it sounds great). The earcups are the main complaint of the headphones. The clamping pressure is kind of tight, and these things are rock hard. The deathadder 2013 doesn't compress it at all, and it springs back immediately. If you are planning on buying these, replacement earcups are a must. I believe that anything that works on the original m50 would work on these, This is what the connection to the headset looks like . It is fairly strong and I can attach it and deatach them without takign them off. This makes them a lot easier to fit in a backpack. I wouldn't recommend using the bag it comes with because it probably only protects the headphones from a strong breeze. The headphones are built great, but the bag is made from the same crappy materials used on the earcups. After taking off the earcups, you see the driver cover. If you think it looks like it protrudes out too much, you would be right. The cups are too thin to take your ears away from it, so if you have normal ears they can be uncomfortable. If you have monkey ears it is probably worse. I have heard buying aftermarket earcups fixes this problem for most people. The inside of the headphones look pretty normal like most headphones. The foam they used is very hard, and I don't know if that is a good thing. The screwdriver is to show just how hard the foam is. I am putting a large amount of force on that, and it seemed like it would break if I put any more force on it. I am not going to comment on the sound. Everyone has heard of the sound quality of the m50's and these are just more of the same. If you are looking for gaming headphones these are not them. Buy something with a mic on it because the sound quality isn't that much better than some good gaming headphones. I have the PC350, and though the warranty sucks on them, they are great as gaming headphones. here is the link to the gallery of all of these images plus a bonus one. http://imgur.com/a/ZZz1r
