i talk with my manager about certs. he is the head of engineering at my company and he's ex microsoft and a couple of other faangs i think. he told me certifications(aws and cloud) are mostly just marketing and he does not look at them highly. you should also speak with your own manager about this and see if such things are valued at your org. mine isnt so i wont do them.

Devops guys here who has been actively interviewing for the last couple of months. Nobody once asked me about my certifications.

I'm thinking of switching my job and all the recruitment ads that are local to me asks for at least an associate level certification. As my current job is hardly scratching the surface of Devops stuff I'm guessing I will have to do a couple certs.

  2. Hi, I am currently working as a Platforms engineer for a software company. I have been working in this position for about an year now managing the company AWS cloud. From my interests and experiences, I feel the best path for me would be to go forward to become a DevOps engineer. Therefore, I'm thinking of getting a few certifications done.

First one I have been thinking of doing is the AWS CCP. However, I have heard from a few places that this can be skipped to an associate level certification. Soo here I am wondering if I can straight away go do the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate exam. I am not seeing the AWS CCP certification as a prerequisite in the website for this SysOps exam either. So is this true, can the CCP can be skipped?

Also would like to hear other certifications that could support my path.

    Thanks for your input.

P.S: I am also thinking of studying for the Azure AZ900 exam after I complete one of the above AWS exams as I would like to get some exposure on Azure as well.

  3. As per the title, I'm looking for a software that can be scheduled to analyze a network path (an AWS FSX path to be exact) and generate a detailed report on the folder sizes to have it emailed at a daily basis.

I'm aware software such as Treesize has this feature but the export options are only available on the paid versions. It would be very helpful if you could suggest a free software or monitoring tool that could be automated to at least periodically to export a report to disk as HTML/PDF.

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

I'm looking forward to buy a used phone by the end of this month and locally I can goto one of the following:

    • Samsung Galaxy A73 5G
    • Honor X9 5G
    • Google Pixel 6a
    • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G
    • Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G
    • Samsung Galaxy Note20
    • Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+
    • Samsung Galaxy S20+

I will not be gaming on my phone. It will be mostly used for day today activities such as using a couple of social media apps, checking Emails etc.. however I would like to have the best possible photo and video quality from the Primary camera to take some shots when I go out with friends.

Would appreciate your support in choosing the best device for my use case from the above list.

    Thanks.

  5. Hi, I have a friend who is on a Mac. I would like to play Rocket league with him by streaming to him from my PC using Parsec. I have a copy of Rocket league installed in my PC and I also own a controller. To play 2 player split-screen in this game it requires that you connect 2 controllers. It doesn't allow this with a single controller and a keyboard. Is there any way we can play using virtual controllers perhaps? I have never configured one and don't know what to look for and also this is the first time I'm trying out Parsec. Your suggestion are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Hi, I am trying to ping between my host windows PC and guest windows VM. At the moment I have my network set upto bridging mode where it is bridged to my laptops inbuilt WiFi adapter. So far I am able to ping the home router, reach the internet and also ping another PC connected to my home router after disabling its firewall. I have disabled the firewalls in both the VM and the host and they still cannot seem to be able to ping each other. The host can also ping the router, ping the other PC in the network and access the internet.

    My router IP: 192.168.1.1

    IP of the VM: 192.168.1.131

    IP of the host: 192.168.1.5

IP of the other PC on the network: 192.168.1.4

Can anyone please suggest how I could achieve this.

    Thanks.

  7. Hi, so I would like to record my motorcycle rides and was looking at action cameras. Unfortunately the ones here in my country cost quite alot even second hand. So I was wondering if an older flagship phone could do the job with a helmet chin mount or chest mount. Had a look around the local market and noticed the Sony XZ3 is within budget and reviews say its got a pretty decent camera. I would like to know if this would work out and be able to capture smooth riding footage. If it can record in 1080P in good quality without going out of focus while riding, I'd be a happy man. Some insight would be helpful. Thanks.

  8. Hi, in one of our computers the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans folder consists of a bunch of mpcache files that add upto around 10gb. I would like to delete them as it is consuming too much space. Tried deleting them manually but I get the error saying Windows Defender Service is using this file and it cannot be deleted. I noticed that even if I turn off Windows Defender from settings, it doesn't allow the files to be deleted. Also noticed that the Defender service cannot be stopped in the services Window as the options are greyed out. Some insight to get this done would be really helpful. Thanks.

Did you already tried the one that specifically restrict the app itself (every phone's different so can't really explain in detail) to use the data on Chrome's app info?

In this phone the only app restrictions for data can be seen in the data saver screen only. The app info of any app in this phone doesnt seem to have any mobile data related settings.

Yet, probably the simplest fix is try with another browser than Chrome. See if it works.

Chrome is just one example of an app that doesn't work with mobile data. Basically in this phone only Facebook lite works on mobile data. All other apps like Instagram, twitter, Gmail, etc would not work. It will start to work if I enable a VPN for some reason.

  10. So I own an LG Q51 (android version is 9) which I bought recently and I am having this issue where I am unable to go online in some applications with mobile data. For example I can go online and connect to my Facebook account using the Facebook lite app but I am unable to go online and browse the web on google chrome with the same mobile data connection. So far I have unchecked any data saver option in my phone, tried resetting the network settings, removed any data restrictions, tried resetting APNs, changed private DNS from automatic to Cloud flare and google DNS, restarted the phone after every change. None of this fixed the issue. I also noticed that if I turn on mobile hotspot from this phone and connect to it from my PC, I am able to browse the web without any issues. Another important thing I noticed is that, apps like google chrome on the phone would work on mobile data if I used a VPN like ThunderVPN found on the play store.

I am puzzled on what is going on with this phone. Some help to fixing the issue would be very helpful. Thanks.

  11. We have got 2 Lenovo L560 laptops with the following issue where the Ethernet adapter fails to start once the drivers are installed. We tried uninstall and reinstall several times using windows driver update in device manager, restarting the laptop, enable and disable driver, did windows updates, used software like driverpack and driver easy and still had no luck in getting the adapters up and running in either of the laptops. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  12. Hello, our workplace has a server with Server 2019 Datacenter and we are in need of limiting RAM usage for a couple of services of an application that's running on it. When we did some research, we came across some old posts of people suggesting Windows System Resource Manager. Some further digging on this we came across this in the Microsoft website : Windows System Resource Manager (WSRM) is deprecated beginning with Windows Server® 2012. and also noticed that its not available for install in Server manager. I did some look around & did not see any successor program to Windows System Resource Manager. Is there anything else built in to Windows server that I can get my task done?

  13. So I'm thinking of buying a phone real soon from the local market and my options are down to the LG V30 and the Xperia XZ3. My main focus is good rear camera quality for recording with the ability to multi task between a few apps. I will not be playing any games so don't care about gaming performance. I would also be using this phone for at least 2 years so really dont want a phone that will develop a fault. Which do you think is the best option. Thanks.

Didn't know Fujitsu made phones honestly. Specs seems ok except for no fast charging and the old version of Android might be problematic. From what I can find it has 7.1 and can only go up 8.0.

This site has 8 reviews and it has an average of about 6.5 / 10

There are probably better options that are similar but I don't know what's available in your market and at what price.

Thanks for your reply. If I put a bit more I can get a Sony Xperia XZ3, however I'm hearing overheating issues from that phone.

  15. Hello, I'm looking to buy a new phone available in the local market and this Fujitsu ARROWS Nx F-01K is available for my budget. Specs look alright on paper but I couldn't find any reviews for this phone. If this phone has got a good camera for video and able to multi task between a couple of social media apps that would do. By any chance has anyone used this phone or know anything about it. If so, please do leave a comment. Thanks.

Sort your table by the phone column

Add a column to the right of your data

    Put a formula     = IF (  phonecolumn[ROWNUMBER]  <> phonecolumn[ROWNUMBER-1] , 0 ,1 )

Double click cell corner so that the formula is copy pasted / propagated all the way to the last row

Now the cells will have 1 if the phone number is identical to previous row's phone number.

So now you can enable filter on the top row (go on row, press Ctrl+Shift + L  or use the menu option)  and you can select only the rows with 1  (as in rows that have same number as previous row)

Now you can select the phone numbers (drag mouse over the cells or Shift + down / up ) and hit DELETE to erase cells

Disable filter to see your whole table again.

    Thanks

  17. I am a person who like single player games and I noticed that in a long time I have never been excited for a new game release. Assassins creed was a series I closely followed and was almost always excited for, but after them going off track from the original story and now gone fully RPG I lost complete interest in it. So now im mostly playing older games that came prior to 2010. Their stories are far better than most modern games imo. But the issues are their controls are clunky and some times running them can be problematic with Windows 10. But after playing the older games idk wat I will play tbh. I think Playstation has great single player titles. I hope they will come to PC or I might have to go full Playstation.

We also never get gpus at msrp. The are usually a good 20-30% more than that before tax.

Same here where I live. it has always been around 30% more than msrp. And right now with the shortage, import restrictions and down fall in economy it has become absolutely awful. Even cards such as a gtx 1660 cost a premium.
