I might have a dying HDD in one of my PCs and it's basically unusable, reaction time of the PC is extremely delayed, everything takes a couple of minutes. But it's good to check CPU/RAM usage as well, in Windows it shouldn't be very high.

Every GTX660 is basically the same, pick up the cheapest with 2-3 fans. You can't OC on that board.

what is your full build. PSU, RAM, storage all of it. If we can recycle some of that you'll get more bang for your buck.
And welcome to the wonderful world of the LTT Forums, everyone is nice and helpful. Except Jim. Jim is scary.

Thanks, that makes it easier. Here is just a quick mock up of what I think a good upgrade would be.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($184.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($82.55 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($219.99 @ Newegg) Total: $487.53 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-10-18 08:13 EDT-0400) The 8350 will help out a lot especially when games start getting optimized for multiple cores. 7950 is a great card and if you want a different brand there are many available for pretty low prices right now. It also doesn't hurt that they come with 3 free games. -

The 8350 should be fine for another 2-3 years. As for the gpu just get whatever is in your price range then. Try and get a 7850 or higher though since that is where you get the best bang for your buck -
