  1. Well, I'm about to travel (internationally) and I'm thinking of Bringing my Anker 120w Charger with me. However, I'm not sure if I'll get the charge speeds like at home. I was looking at those universal travel Adapters and I'm seeing things like usb ports rated at 5V 2A etc. Which is like nowhere near Ankers output speeds! I'm confused if those speeds are for the USB ports on the actual travel adapter or the pass through for electricity to my Anker charger? Will I Still be able to draw 100w+? Thanks!
  2. Hi all, I've been trying to get into soldering this year, and I've pretty much ordered everything needed for this mission. Been watching countless videos on YouTube and read articles and thought I practice on an old motherboard - by removing capacitors (?)I think that's what you call them? (see pics) Since they're already soldered onto the board, I'd have to desolder it to loosen it up a bit. So i used a desoldering braid with my soldering iron at 325°C. I've also added some flux. Nothing is happening. The braid gets warm, but it's not sucking up the solder. The solder from the board is not liquidizing. Am I using the wrong tip or the wrong temperature or bad brands ? Hopefully the attached pictures can help you answer me thanks!
  3. Hi yall, Hope everyone's home and safe I'm currently watching the clips from end of 2013 and if anyone wants to have a small #TBT moment, I'd suggest you check out the WAN Show archive as I am doing now: So looking back, it's very interesting how tech had evolved over the years, some of the funny bits that I picked out over the last few days watching these archives: Yes, we had Diesel and Slick It was around this time the PS4 and XBOX 1 were about to be released all these console war talks (which is funny because, that's pretty much whats happening with the next gens right now) A 5" Phone was considered a "Phablet" lmao SSD's were just making their way to the consumer market, Linus blown away by the Evo 840 performance In One of the WAN shows they were joking how funny it'd be to release a calendar with naked portraits of themselves.. well, who knew back then huh? One of the very first 4k Monitors debuted, the hype train was real HTC was still a thing, no Huawei back then The Witcher 3 Trailer had just dropped GTA V was just announced for "current" and next gen consoles - People were still speculating if it would come out for PC and lot's more! With around 3 WAN shows on average/day, I should be caught up in no time Anyways, if you are bored I'd definitely recommend you going through some of the older archives, a lot of memes and GIFs were born on these WAN shows Peace
  4. Hello LTT forums, I had this brilliant idea of installing Windows 10.. (as if life wasn't hard enough as it is) only to be faced with a major issue. From the screenshot below you can see I am getting the "0xC1900101 - 0x20017" Error. I have no idea what or why this is happening, I am installing the OS on a brand new SSD. FOR THE 64 BIT: What happens is that once I selected the pre-settings Windows runs a quick install first and then reboots to begin the actual installation. At this point I get the "Choose an option" 'Screen. Presumably this only happens when setup has failed. It gives me the option to return to my previous OS (revert settings) or the halfway installed set up OS - "Windows Rollback". If i select that, the PC reboots and reverts back to my previous OS and I get the error message. (Stock pic attached) FOR THE 32 BIT: Uhm, works like a charm. No stupid errors and windows, set up completed everything under 20 min without me being involved. Question: I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't be able to install the 64bit version, I believe I meet all the requirements, I have 8GB ram and a 64bit CPU. Any advice here? I really would like to utilize my 8GB RAM
  5. One year ago my GPU died with artifacts showing on my screen, I didn't have the budget nor the time to continue with gaming so I had to retire. I continued using my PC using onbard VGA with my i5-2500k. Then just now my PC restarted, BSOD appeared with white lines across the screen. The same terrifying screen reappeared like last year and now..the same sh*t happened again My Question is Can CPU Onboard graphics get artifacts too?! Does that mean by CPU has overheated?, The lines dont appear before Windows boots, I can enter the BIOS normally with nothing showing on the screen. And I cant enter Windows normally (continues reboot), only in safe mode (see attached pics). I havent opened up my PC yet and I havent been tinkering with PC stuff for some time due to other commitments but I believe the things at fault are either my CPU or maybe motherboard? Regardless I'm really gutted that I now have to spend money to fix this mess possibly buying a whole new barebone bundle.. any help appreciated. ps: My PSU is actually decent, it's corsair something platinum 800 watts lool
  6. explains how my SSD went from 80GB free space since day 1 to 1gb today.. (looking for storage expansion atm.. -.-)
  7. Hi yall, so I need some extra storage as well as performance and was considering to stack up some SSDs now that they are becoming somewhat affordable. Currently I have a few HDs and a Kingston SSD, which currently runs my OS. I know the SSD is not much but I have recently looked into the whole RAID thing and thought I would do as the following: Buy another 120GB identical Kingston SSD and run in RAID 0 Buy another "proper" SSD for my system e.g. Crucial BX100 (500gb ver) Question is, is this approach useful or am I wasting money for the 2nd Kingston drive. Is the Crucial SSD good/or would you recommend me a better SSD in the same price range My main tasks are gaming only so I'm looking to get some stutter free gameplay by improving overall performance.
  8. one part of the PCI thing is too big for my slots on the MB and yes my MB has an ethernet port but I recently got this prob where my realtek controller been in "deep sleep mode". I tried everything and couldn't fix it, my only option is to maybe reinstall OS but I dont really want to. So I'm trying my luck with an additional Ethernet port. Okay now that you mention it, I only have PCIe lanes. ._. guess I send this back then. Thx!
  9. I have a feeling this is gonna be one of the dumbest questions asked but my network card I recently purchased physically dont go in. My mainboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3855#ov The card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000TO0BQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Can someone explain me what went wrong and offer me some alternative around that price range? tenk yu e: 69th post!
  10. After tedious research I had to downclock my RAM ._. but that's besides the point.. I just upgraded from 8GB to 32GB and went back to 16GB. My original Ram kit Corsair kit - Latency: 9-9-9-24 / 2x 4gb Then recently got TWO of these Dual Channel kits of HyperX Furies And according to website, should run at 10-11-10-30. I then removed one kit, so I end up with only 16gb. They run at 8-8-8-22 (maybe due to the downclocking?) When I booted my PC using 32GB ram using all 4 modules, I thought I'm running Win 95 it was hella slow and felt like I'm using some 2000s mechanical hard drive even though I had an SSD. Then as mentioned, removed 2 modules and ran 16GB and my speed picked up again. I used this benchmark app and I got results as the following: Old 8gb Kit (2x 4gb) = 3050 32GB (4x8gb) = 950 (lol) 16gtb (2x8gb) = 3100  My CPU is an i5-2500k http://ark.intel.com/products/52210/Intel-Core-i5-2500K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz Mainboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3855#ov Can someone tell me why the 32GB kit is so slow? Would I have re-adjust the speeds even lower? My Mainboard can apparently handle 32gb. Thanks
  11. Ok so I bought one of these cheap thumb size USB 2.0 wifi adapters and I can't seem to connect to my router. I can connect to my phone though (wifi hotspot). One problem is, it takes ages until it can even detect my Router/Internet using that wifi adapter. My Phone is being recognized immediately. So I don't think it's a driver issue since my phone is recognized. The 2nd and main problem is, once I select my home network, I just get the "Unable to connect" message from windows. I was just wondering if maybe my Router is "too good" for that cheap wifi adapter, such as running on higher frequencies etc that the adapter can't read? I know that the wifi adapter can only work on 2.4 GhZ and my router is running on Channel 1. And that's where my networking knowledge ends lol any help appreciated
  12. I think.. just out of fairness for Linus & Slick we should vote for both, so each can do their own favorite videos which btw seems to be the case looking at the poll results. Can't wait for the new Channel B)
  13. Okay so I record game footage with fraps and have them in a folder. Then I sort them so the most recent video is at the top and play them using Media player classic (MPC). On the player when I press the Skip button to play the next video, instead of playing the next most recent video, it plays the oldest clip in the folder (going backwards) Only when I press the Previous button, the next video plays. is this a windows related issue or the software corrupt? thx
  14. And thats why the internet was invented for. I usually am not the type of person who just join the bandwagon of some new trend but this fllappy thing has been following me almost everywhere, news feed, real life, even in online games. It got to a point where I just wanted to see what all the noise is about, only to find out it's been pulled. Now what are people gonna do? Only way is to pirate
  15. This is actually not bad, was considering to purchase the software :3
