  1. You expect me to do research on how a forum counts its posts? It was a pretty lame attempt to get back at you I admit, I just couldn't rationalise why you would make a post that contradicts my interests described in the original post. I wasn't able to find more information on these chairs on my own, that's why I looked for other people's input, it is no secret that I am not good at researching chairs, otherwise this thread would not exist. Pointing out my lack of skill is just unnecessarily offensive. I didn't create this topic with the intent to hear praises about a potentially stupid waste of money I was considering. You're assuming that. That quote is fine and would have been much more welcome in your first post as a means to inform me on why your choice in chairs is better, instead of giving no reason while addressing the one negative aspect I stated not to care about in the choice I was considering. - Bottom line, I'm sorry this turned into what it did. I hope you understand my frustration but I should have not been so quick to jump at you. - @Bouzoo They seem considerable. I've never tried a mesh chair before, would you say it's comparable in terms of comfort to more traditional cushioning? Breathability is a definite plus though it's not a necessity for my environment.
  2. Your earlier post didn't contain anything useful with regard to the topic. You didn't explain why the Aerons would be better other than the subject of style. I don't care what people think about chairs visually or emotionally, I just want my back to be treated within the budget that I have for it. Your post wasn't criticism, it was a quick +1 postcount for you over a topic that riles you up, clearly you have a personal vendetta against racing chairs. And before you feel like I'm trying to defend it; I'm only here to ask people about their experience who have actually bought it. Other suggestions are welcome as long as you describe to me why it would be better in a civil manner. My reply to your post was only as aggressive as your complete dismissal of the topic's purpose. As for buying used chairs and my ineptitude: I'm here to ask for help to make an informed decision. My ineptitude is irrelevant; If you post, it is expected you are trying to help. Your insult only serves as a means to establish your dominance over me. Please reconsider your attitude.
  3. These Aerons go for ridiculous prices (though racing chairs are overpriced too), it's part of my problem that there's very little to go on for doing research on chairs or discovering brands. So many types and manufacturers, can not find a review anywhere and in my country especially there is no hope in hell that I could visit a local shop to try one that has the featureset I'm looking for. What I'm left with is generic online searching on mass retailers which often contains incorrect information, has no proof of quality, little to no customer reviews and a sea of products where I can't filter the functions I want. EDIT: I'm sure Herman Miller produce really good chairs but my budget doesn't allow much more than like $300. And again, I have no way of knowing whether any of these are good for sitting in for over half a day.
  4. @Nuluvius Please read the OP fully before posting next time. I don't give a flying rat's ass about what I look like as long as I'm comfortable. I also mentioned that a headrest is a must for me. The topic is about whether racing chairs are actually good.
  5. Hi! I'm looking into getting a new chair, saw the ads, now doing research. I am a heavy user - some workdays stretch out over 10-12 hours so prolonged comfort and lumbar support is of the highest importance to me. I've got my eyes specifically on GT Omega chairs http://www.gtomegaracing.com/gt-omega-racing-gaming-office-chair-seats/gt-omega-pro-racing-office-gaming-chairs/gt-omega-pro-racing-office-chair-black-fabric They seem to be of similar quality and feature set as the maxnomic chairs but notably cheaper, please do tell if they have a catch. Adjustability is a must for me, i need the armrests to not collide with my desk and keyboard tray, I'm also not willing to compromise on having a head rest and adjustable angles... which unfortunately seems to leave me only with racing chairs as I've not seen a single other type of chair fulfill all these roles. The "wings" I'm not entirely fond of but I guess I'd have to see (might even help with taking a nap lol), the overall style of racing chairs I find a bit ridiculous but I'll take comfort and durability over style any day of the week. The really concerning thing is that almost no reviews are present of people who actually BOUGHT these chairs, and more often than not they give the review before having had a respectable amount of use out of them. So far I've found one guy that complained about these chairs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk3HIlgyXCs BUT his complaints are related to chair size relative to his body (ie sitting on your leg) which means he should've gotten a bigger size model or lack of soft cushioning (which can be solved with your own solutions such as a seating pillow) so I figured I'd ask around to see if anyone has some experience with these chairs.
  6. Hey, I'm considering investing in some HD 558s and a Blue Yeti microphone for my activities, I would love to have some opinions. Here's what I'd be using them for: -CSGO mostly -Casual livestreaming -Intermediate sound engineering (Not a pro, I just want noise-free recordings of objects making sounds or voiceovers so I can use them in games I'm developing) -Listening to music while I work The mic: The Blue Yeti might be overkill but it seems like something I could take with me to the grave, it does EVERYTHING. I'd want it over the snowball for the gain knob and mute button mostly, both immensely useful to me. Kinda freaked out about the size though. The headphones: I'm also considering the 598 but being a mudblood when it comes to audio, I don't know how much I would gain from it over the 558s. I currently see a deal for the 558 at $125 USD, and the 598 at $160 USD (EU tax incl). Thoughts? Also, I know colors should not matter but I'm not too keep on the cream color of the 598. Open-back seems like the choice for me, leaking is no issue, and while outside noise is annoying, it is also a necessity occasionally. It seems to be the consensus that open backs produce better sound, so I figured I'd spend on a quality product, but not more than what my untrained ears can really appreciate. Currently using a Creative Fatality headset, it does the job, sound seems fine, but microphone has more background static than what I would like, plus it's just awkward to record anything other than voice with it. It's starting to die so I've got to replace it. Opinions? Am I overspending here? Should I consider closed-back headphones?
  7. Hey guys. Thanks again for all your previous comments, I have edited the original post to include my thoughts of 2 weeks hands-on experience with an LG 27MU67-B 27" 4k monitor. I hope some of you will find this information useful if you are contemplating the same step I was when I made this topic.
  8. It does have it, sorta... The specs list it as "flicker-safe", not "free", which is kind of alerting, like when buy some milk only to find out the bottle reads "molk" and it's made of soy. I'm not saying that it's necessarily a different thing in this case, it could well be some cheapo alternative, but it could also be a simple stupid naming discrepancy. I did try to do some research on it, sadly it's barely being discussed, I did read in a tomshardware post that apparently flicker-safe DOES get rid of PWM. It even had a link to prove it but now I can't find the topic either.
  9. Since then I ordered an LG 27MU67-B. It's an IPS 4k, I've had a few hours of hands-on experience with it now. It was expected that I would end up using DPI scaling, however I don't mind it because I like the extra clarity, especially in text. There are a few sore spots like Steam, which doesn't like scaling. At its default scale it's not unreadable, but I can't say I prefer it. That being said, I can just use my secondary or third monitor for things that don't scale well on my main. One sore spot is that on Win7 it's not possible to apply DPI settings per-monitor, so my 1080s have huge interfaces for some applications like chrome. I guess it was inevitable that I'd find a reason to get Win10, though I'll sleep on it a few times. The monitor itself feels very spaceous, my coding environment had become amazingly comfy to use, not to mention it's pretty cool splitting the screen between 4 FHD windows. Game-wise, the only really demanding titles that I actually play that wouldn't run well in 4k were Doom and GTA V. That being said, I will still use my 4k monitor for gaming because of the increased screen size, I find it more immersive (compared to a 21" I'd say that is understandable), 1080 upscale is not the worst thing in the world and 1440p I'd say is subtle in blurryness, so I've actually decided to start gaming on that for more demanding titles seeing as my 970 pulls above 45-50 in most of the intensive titles I've tried so far. Antialiasing may be a thing of the past though Oh and watching moives? I will probably not bother with actual 4k content for a while but the screen size makes such a difference, even if it has to be scaled up. Flicker free/safe seems to be gimmick so far. Can't say it's notably easier on the eyes
  10. Being an indie game dev the new Razer Blade 14 would make it possible for me to do work while on the move.
