  1. Thanks for letting me know. Is there an actual end in sight for this chip shortage?
  2. Budget (including currency): <$800 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Simulator Games— specially F1, Assetto Corsa, Flight Sim 2020. I understand the graphics card world is upside down right now but looking to get back in sim games. I want to be able to play these on high+ settings on a 34” ultra wide 3440x1440 monitor. Anything in the secondary market worth buying right now, or should I just hold off for a 3080 when and if I can get one?
  3. I purchased a 55" LG B8 recently. Very pleased with it so far for the price.
  4. Thanks. Looks like I put myself into a fairly expensive situation. I can pickup a Vega 64 for $380. Would this be a good value buy or should I swing for a used 1080ti for the extra 120-150 bucks?. I think buying a new 2080 is out of the question given how expensive they are new and used.
  5. Not a huge gamer so I’m not too familiar with what I should be buying for solid 1440p performance today. I play F1, Racing Sims, and X-Plane and currently run a 34inch ultrawide 3440 x 1440 curved monitor. What is the best price/performance option out there today?
  6. Looking to build a unraid server and trying to figure out what CPU is best for my use case (don't want to over or under buy). I want to be able to transcode videos with Plex to 1-2 users (most content is original BluRay/4K BluRay backups or encoded 1080p files), and run up to 3 VMs (e.g. Volumio, Kodi, Win 10). Ability to handle 1080p gaming on a VM (with passthrough) would be a plus, but not necessary if its going to drastically increase the price. ECC would be a plus, and it must support VT-d and VT-x for VMs with USB/GPU passthrough. Intel or AMD equivalent. Thank you.
  7. Would need to know what OS you are using. On Windows for instance you would want to make sure network discovery is on and you are part of the same workgroup on all devices. On the router side there might be a DHCP server issue. You need to make sure all the devices get assigned IPs on the same subnet. You could try turning off every device, resetting the router, only setup your router with your PC, then add back all the devices starting with the unraid server. It's also good practice to add each device and manually assign each device to a DHCP IP within the router setting. I personally use 10.10.10.1 for my router, 10.10.10.2 for my wifi, skip 10.10.10.3-9, 10.10.10.10 is my unraid server, and then random assign devices above 10.10.10.11 and manually assigned them so they never change. For this you would change your gateway from 192.168.1.1/254 to 10.10.10.1/254. I do this so theres never an issue with knowing what IP my device gets assigned (e.g. my printer is always 10.10.10.20).
  8. Do you want powered speakers or do you plan to use an amplifier?
  9. Thanks all for the responses above clarifying. I'm trying out the samsung note 4.
  10. Thanks! Excuse my ignorance, but would that be something like cyanogenmod? If the phone is locked (due to 4 months rule on t-mobile) would I not be able to try a custom ROM out?
  11. Long time Blackberry and iPhone users. Have the opportunity to try out the galaxy note 4 for a month or two to decide if i want to sell my 6+ and switch. Have no idea where to even begin. What do you all do first when you set up a new android phone? Any specific OS mods or launchers I should be using? The one that comes with the note looks perfect for a small child. I've googled this a bit and found some sub-reddits but the whole thing seems pretty overwhelming with so many options. Thanks!
  12. Windows Media Center + InfiniTV 6 PCIe. 6 tuners and fast guide scrolling. Channel changing isn't fiberoptic (uverse/fios) fast but manageable when you consider how much better the guide, 6 tuners, and unlimited DVRing is in comparison to the crappy cable boxes. The M-Card fee is just $2 a month vs. $7per box that cable companies usually charge.
