  1. My PC has been acting up. It only powers on when I hold down the power button for a few seconds, and if I press it quickly, it makes noise and flashes but doesn't turn on. Additionally, I have to unplug and plug in my sound card and keyboard almost every time I power on the PC to get them to work.

Having no other issues. Everything is updated included bios

  2. So whenever I shut my PC down for an extended time it has never had an issue with the aRGB header resetting or peripherals not working. But recently when my PC shuts down and I turn it on the aRGB is resetting to default and I have to unplug and plug back in my external sound card to get it to work (it is off when I turn on my PC and I have tried new usb ports). My aRGB only used to reset to default when I unplug my PC from the wall and I am sure that the electricity has been uninterrupted.

What can I try to fix these issues it is annoying going into my BIOS every boot to set my RGB and plugging my sound card back in every time.

  3. Do they make any >850w SFX power supplies that don't suffer from coil whine? It seems for whatever reason when you get past 750w coil whine is painfully apparent. So my current Lian Li SP 750 750w SFX that has no coil whine needs to be upgraded to 850w and my 750w SFX PSU has no issues with noise or anything. Last month I bought an EVGA SuperNOVA 850w SFX PSU and it suffered from coil whine that was noticeably bad. Upon checking the reviews no one complained about any noise or coil whine except for people who have the 850w unit on the reviews on every site. Everyone with the 750W unit had no complaints. So I returned that EVGA PSU and I am wondering if all SFX PSUs above 750w all suffer from coil whine?

    https://pcpartpicker.com/products/power-supply/#A=850000000000,2050000000000&th=5&sort=price&page=1

This is the entire selection of SFX PSUs above 750w. Every review I have read on every site the people with sub-850w PSUs don't complain of coil whine but every bad review for all 850w units multiple people are complaining about coil whine. Is this every unit or just selective units? It seems even the PSUs that advertise "100% Japanese capacitors" still suffer from coil whine.

The only PSU that I couldn't find having any reviews complaining about coil whine is this one and I think that is just cause there isn't enough reviews.

Even this 1000w SFX PSU people complain of coil whine. If I ran this 1000w PSU with more leeway than an 850W would the coil whine be less than me running an 850w PSU balls to the wall?

I need a SFX PSU that is quiet. The rest of my system is quiet and I can audibly hear the coil whine when I play games above anything else. Even with a headset on. And I am 100% sure, when I had the 850w EVGA SFX PSU that it was coil whine and not a faulty fan.

Windows 11 was my issue as Windows 10 has resolved my issues.

All y'all who said it was the power supply might wanna stick to console gaming

Your ram is fine. You did a memtest and it came back clean. The ram is not the issue. You are having kernel and application failiure without an obivious cause. But what I am fully expecting here is the age old psu not handling the 3080. It happens even in the LIGHTEST games it's a powerspike.

So again what is your psu?

I've had this for less than a month:

  6. I have been having pretty annoying crashes on every game I play and I cannot pinpoint exactly what it is but I feel like I am pretty close. I tried just putting one RAM stick in and haven't had any crashes yet and my Rust was crashing about every 10 minutes so it wasn't hard to tell the crashing stopped.

So anyways what are some other troubleshooting steps I can try? Is it for sure the RAM or is it MOBO/CPU? I have not tested all 4 RAM slots yet but I am not sure if that is necessary yet as that would take a little bit of time.

From what I can tell my game crashes while running this RAM kit in dual channel but not single channel with one stick.

I'll let you know after I try that.

But I know that I did try both sticks in both dual channel slots and had the same crashing result.

So I haven't tried every slot but the two I was using. I tried both sticks in each slot and they haven't crashed yet on their own. They apparently only crash when in dual channel.

I took out a stick of RAM and disabled XMP and knock on wood haven't had a crash yet.

I did run MemTest86 for an hour with both sticks in on a previous day with the XMP profile on even and had no errors with the test.  Would it for sure be a RAM issue if I haven't crashed yet? I would order the same kit because I do like the timings and speed.

What 750w psu is that? A 3080 rarely ever works stably on a 750w unit due to it's power spikes

My games are crashing every 10-20 minutes. I can be playing insanely light games like Fortnite or Dota 2 (so GPU is below half load) and it will still crash.

    what you could do,

get another SSD/HDD and install w10 try your games and tell us if it crashes

Do you think my boot drive is defective? I do have most of my games on my boot drive but on my secondary SSD those games will also crash. Will that not matter or should I still try a new windows installation on a new drive?

  11. So everyone of my games that I play have been crashing and I hardly even play demanding games. This leads me to believe I'm likely having a hardware issue but a software issue is also possible but it's a month-old installation of Windows 11.

    My specs: R7 5800x, ASRock x570s PG, 16GB CL 14 3200Mhz RAM, ASUS TUF RTX 3080, and a 750W PSU.

I have the latest BIOS, have reinstalled the latest Nvidia drivers with DDU, and I have removed all overclocks including RAM and am still crashing. I have recently changed out my motherboard but I am not certain whether or not I was experiencing the same crashes beforehand as it was a few months ago.

When the games crash I get not error messages or anything. But here is the messages I get from event viewer when my games crash

Sorry I explained poorly (my system is being repaired ATM so I can't send pics of what I exactly mean. Kinda ironic LOL)

Once you open event viewer, find "System" under windows logs I think. If you can't verify when the game(s) last crashed then try to reproduce it. After it happens check these logs to see if anything seems off. Send a pic here.

My first guess is RAM issues.
Another thing to try after this *if you feel comfortable* is power down the system, remove power from the wall and take out one stick of RAM. See if problem continues, keep doing this until you are down to 1 stick in the main slot.
Then try a different stick in that slot.
You can even (on the off chance) try your graphics card in a different PCI-e slot just to double check what the issue is not
If that isn't an option download memtest86 and put it on a USB drive. Test the RAM that way

    this was result

Is a well known issue at this point. Even good 850w PSUs are known to fail powering 3080 and cause your issue. You can try putting the Power Limiter in afterburner to 50% and play the games again. If you do not crash then likely this is the issue and you will need to upgrade to 1000w gold or platinum unit. If with 50% limiter, you still crash then might be something else.

eh, doubt it. I'm crashing while playing games like Dota 2 and League. Hence my GPU is below 50% load

You've got a beefy enough PSU to power the 3080 through wattage spikes? Been seeing some threads lately of people having some games crash due to the PSU not being able to handle the power demands. Though I forget if the PC shut off altogether or just the games crashed. You could test this by pulling the power target in something like Afterburner as low as possible and seeing if it still crashes.

it's 750w platinum that should be enough

r7 5800x @stock with AIO, ASUS TUF RTX 3080 @stock, 16GB 2x8 CL 14 3200Mhz (I have XMP profile off right now and issue still is there), ASRock X570s PG

    I will try that.

It is more than one game. I'm thinking it's hardware but I am completely stumped on what it is.

I had a couple blue screens last week but haven't had any since. I think that's what the critical errors are.

  17. So I've been facing a lot of system instability as every game I play will crash after 10-30 minutes of playing and I am not sure how to troubleshoot it. When my games crash there is never a crash message or anything they are very "clean" crashes. My game will lock up for a second or two and then I will instantly be on my desktop like an app crash on iOS. But anyway that's what the crashes are like and I am not sure how to troubleshoot them without any crash messages or anything.

I've also taken off all my overclocks so that's not the issue, I have latest Nvidia drivers, and latest BIOS update.

Hi, I have tried to find the right forum for this question for quite some time and just couldn't figure out where to go with my problem. I have a gaming laptop from Medion (German make) erazer p 15805 which came with the control center 3.0 pre-installed which let me control my fan speed, power modes and rgb on the keyboard which worked great until 4 days ago. Then I couldn't control power modes(energy saving, silent, performance or balanced) or the rgb of my keyboard (the only rgb I have). So I tried resetting it via windows settings, still same problem.

Now here comes the bad part: I thought that if it was an app from the Microsoft store I could uninstall it with no problem, bad thing is I use CCleaner to uninstall stuff, and it did uninstall it but it opened up I think it was powershell, ran a few commands (don't know if that is the right term) and control center was gone. So far so good. Then I tried to download it from the Microsoft store again, that worked. But if I try to open it I get the message "OSD only" in a small window when I first started it. The second time I pressed the icon nothing happened. If I restart my laptop I get the message again. But now I'm stuck with a blue back-lit keyboard (which is not that big of a deal to me) and with no way to control power modes or fan speed (which I would really like to do since I want it to be silent (in silent mode) when I'm playing in the living room.

I really appreciate every help I can get and that someone really made it this far through my text.

Thank you so much for your help and videos!

it's a little unclear what you are trying to do.

playing 2 tracks and mixing them live or have background music and recording a track at the same time? or just playing a video and an audio track at the same time?

you can look into SAW Studio, the newest ones are paid but v5.6 can be found free. It basically is a mixing console with channels for each "track" input, but also does playback for mastering. add as many tracks as you want and edit in the same program. The learning curve for the basics is super simple but ramps up if you start playing with layering tracks and actually mixing.

When you select two tracks for ShadowPlay it separates your system audio and microphone audio. I want to play both at once. I'll give that a look

  20. Is there a media player that can play two tracks at once easily? I have my ShadowPlay set to two audio tracks and I just want to have an easy way to view them with both tracks playing. For some reason I can't really find anything like what I am looking for

I have tried using VLC and while it is successful it's not exactly clean or elegant as it uses a .bat file on my desktop. So it's moderately annoying to drag a video file to and ugly icon on my desktop every time I want to quickly view a video.
