    First of all, thank you for the great answers. It is nice to get a lot of different opinions on the topic it helps me gain a better understanding of the concept of delidding. Maybe I should had clarified in the start, I have done a lot of research and I know what is was getting into (actually I have already bought the necessary equipment to do the delid). Just for the sake of it, I run my 8600k with a minor overclock and my case is the corsair 250d, the cooling solution is a custom build EKWB loop. I agree, 80-85 C is absolutely fine under gaming load and other stuff like that. I do not personally use stress test (used to but not anymore) because I don’t have the need anymore, but that is of cause a personal taste. I think I will “conduct a research” in that sense that I will take a lot of temperature measurements (not just CPU, the entire system and even my room) Then combined with my needs and the results I am getting, then I will determine whether to do it or not. For now, I will probably postpone my delid. Once again thank @papajo, @ShrimpBrime, @Br3tt96 for the answers, it was very helpful.

    Aren't some of the first i9 IHS just glued on? Anyways thanks for the advice I will run some test and the determine the fate of my CPU

    Yes sould have linked the post, sorry for that completely forgot it. The guides i have read and the videos on the topic indicates that it isn't so hard to do, and it seems to be easier on the smaller cpu's like the i7 or i5 instead of the higher end i9 cpu's all the online guides are about

    What would you say is max temp for the 8600? In my experience running CPU's at e.g 90 for a longer periode of time is not ideal

    I have thought about for a long time now, mainly because of me high temps. I have a small case which restrict my cooler a bit. The problem is when playing certain games my CPU hits 78-80 degrees Celsius. A while back I made a post on the forum about this exact thing to know if there was anything I have been missing (because I would like to avoid a delid). Another member of the forum suggested a delid, confirming my own solution. Now, combined with a GPU upgrade, I thought it was the time to do something about it.

    Hello LTT forum I am planning a delid on my i5-8600k, I have read a lot of guides online, but everybody seems to have different opinions on resealing the HIS. I move my computer around a lot and therefor I would argue that it should be resealed. (the CPU is horizontal mounted btw). Should I reseal or not, and if so, how should I do it, in just the corners or all the way around the IHS (and what glue should I use, everybody seems to use high heat silicon). I have bought the Thermal Grizzly Conducotnaut and some online recommend using nail polish to protect the small components on the substrate from potential liquid metal spill over, is this really needed if I am very careful to apply a thin layer of liquid metal? I hope someone out there with the experience can give me some good advice, it would be much appreciated. (just realised the i5 8600k doesn't have any small electronics on the substrate, correct me if i am wrong)

    Okay thank you, last question- I have a 550w PSU so if i decide to go with the 2070 SUPER do i also need a PSU upgrade. 750 W is fine, dont you agree

    Hello (Graphics card) LTT forum, Hold on to your hat or headset because there is a lot of questions coming at you. I want to upgrade my GPU from my old 960. System info, I5-8600k and 16 GB RAM. (will need later) I was looking at the RTX 2070 SUPER and the RTX 2070 and noticed there wasn't a huge speed difference between the cards. Is it worth saving the 80$ or so on the 2070 or is it better in terms of future proofing to buy the 2070 SUPER? And it doesn’t stop there, because a friend pointed out I maybe would run into some bottleneck issues. Is it really a thing with modern day hardware or at least the CPU/GPU combination I am planning to make? If so, should I consider the 2060 SUPER. I would assume a 2-year-old 6-core processor wouldn’t run into a problem with the 2070’s, but I am not sure. I hope someone out there have a good answer, it would be much appreciated. (btw sorry for potential bad English, it is not my first language)

    I agree, the temps are where it should be. Just wanted to clarify that it wasn't too high, which it seemed, but now i have a better understanding of the temp. range. Thanks the for the response btw

    Thanks for the quick response. Yes it is indeed a EK SE radiator. Is deliding the CPU difficult? I have seen sevearl vidoes on it, but have not had courage to do it yet. Any thing you would recommend if i choose to do it?

    Hi, I am looking for help to fix my loop. I am running an Intel i5-8600K with a custom EKWB loop, and I am having some problem with heat. When idle, the CPU is between 37-45 degrees Celsius and when under load (in a game, around 80%) it is between 50-68. I am running the system with a small overclock to 4,4 GHz, and when I have been playing a game for a long period, my CPU (under load) hits around 70-75 degrees Celsius. For me these temps. are a bit high when running a 240mm radiator, although overclocked, it doesn’t seem right. Anyone having experienced something like this before? I have tried several things to fix this problem, and my config now seems to give me the best results, but still a bit high in my opinion (picture shows config). If anybody have some great ideas or tips to getting the temps. down, it would be much appreciated My next step would be to take the entire loop out, drain it and start all over again, but that seems like a big undertaking. I have attached some pictures of the loop config. Red arrows shows water flow, green arrows shows airflow (i have a 140mm fan in the front) (sorry for any spelling mistakes, English is not my fist language)

    Hi i am trying to install windows 10 on my macbook air, but every time i try i run Boot Camp Assistant i gives me this error "Your disk cloud not be partitioned". I have tried to run the first aid in Disk Utility (as the error code says) in both recovery mode and booted in macOS. I have tried the "fsck -fy" in single user mode, and i still doesn't work. I cant figure out what to do now, can anyone plz help me? I am running a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) 121 gb macOS High Sierra version 10.13.1 Note: i have installed windows 10 on one of my friends macbook air (the same model as mine) and i works perfectly.

    i would upgrade the CPU first, since the GTX 1050ti is still a pretty good card. And you are going from a i3 to an i5
