  1. Thanks for the suggestion. I always thought I needed some sort of docking station. But I found a KVM switch that would work for me. Only 1 extra cable for charging the laptop.
  2. Looking for a docking station that can switch between the input of a linux laptop and a windows pc. Not sure how that would handle GPU from the PC though, DP passthrough maybe? Or I could use DP from my PC and HDMI from the docking station and just switch the input manually from the monitor. Other requirements would be 4 usb type A slots and a type C one. I've already seen one device that you can get to use between each PC/laptop and the docking station to tell it which signal to use. But as far as I could tell you also needed some software and no linux support. Besides, I'm hoping to use just one device.
  3. If they have it available in the store - probably but unlikely. Because after that if I don't buy it they have to sell it a bit cheaper as unpackaged/opened as a policy.
  4. The gap in my country is even bigger. Even for the XM3 which seems like a good option otherwise. Edit: Original price for the XM3 is 550 BGN, for the Arctis 9 it's 380 BGN. Currently on the same price because the shop that sells the XM3s has a halloween sale. Considering...
  5. Hey guys, I'm looking for headphones/headset to use mainly for gaming and media on a PC (not laptop) but to also be able to connect to my phone while commuting. So far the closest thing I found is the SS Arctis 9. However those lack ANC. Some other cons are mUSB charger and Bluetooth 4, not 5. Not deal breakers but still. I'm unaware of earbuds that can do that but that is also acceptable. If anyone knows of an Arctis 9 equivalent w/ ANC your advice will be much appreciated. Something around the same price range. If no such thing exists I guess I have to sacrifice the ANC. My reasons: I don't want to buy 2 pairs of headphones, 1 for PC and 1 for my phone, since I don't use the with my phone that much.
  6. Also waiting for a difference between the Xiaomi stuff. In Bulgaria the Mi box S is cheaper.
  7. Starting in web development is easy but I would recommend it only if you know that that's what you want to do. I started of writing simple console applications in C++ then moved to simple desktop applications in Java. I spend some time with Android. I'm currently an backend web developer and I can say that if you start with that it will teach you some bad programming practices. If fact some of the supervisors I've had wrote horrible code because they've been web developers all their lives. You can try Python or Ruby for web. They are OK. Avoid NodeJS and PHP. No matter what people say they are both wrong for beginners (IMO). I'm a PHP dev, yes, I'm not afraid to say it. For the past 10 years people have been telling me thet PHP will be dead soon but it's still here.
  8. Let's say I have work projects at home that deal with a lot of other people's money and I don't want anyone to able to even slightly see what I'm working on and on which (git) platforms but also what I access otherwise. For example, in my country most (if not all) external gambling sites are banned but I work for such a client based abroad. Unlocking that content without chrome extensions is a bonus. Edit: I also read somewhere that there is some performance drop in speed. Currently I'm on 75 Mbps. What drops should I expect on each VPN?
  9. Interesting... I have almost the same build (older CPU). But I decided to get the 2070s since it would cost me about the same where I'm from. Plus I won't deal with the horrible AMD drivers. I think the only problem you will have is just that - finding the correct driver for your system. Latest is not always the best. From personal experience I would say the AMD driver are like Windows releases: 1 good, 1 bad. Also, I'm curious: What memory does the card have? I saw that some are with GDDR5 and some with GDDR6.
  10. It's been said before: The 2070 super is more powerful but the price difference is not proportionate. It's been said before: The price depends on your region. I ended up ordering the 2070 super because for one thing only the founder edition 5700xt is available locally for me, secondly - if I order it from amazon.de (I'm in eastern Europe) it will cost me the same as the 2070 super, more if I wait for local retailers. I also noticed that I can get it 50 euro cheaper if it's with gddr5, the gddr6 price = 2070 super (for me).
  11. My build will be similar to yours and was wondering the same. I always go to the MSI PSU calculator and check what watt what wants. I already have a 550W PSU and after I get a new GPU I would still have plenty to spare.
  12. I only have 1 issue here - founder vs aftermarket in regards to FPS is just about the same. In some games you would get 5 FPS more in others just 1. The main reasons to buy the aftermarket one like stated before are thermals and noise. However, the best FPS:price card would be the non XT version. I'm glad I waited before buying just see what a mess the 5700XT turned out to be. At this point I would prefer to spend a bit more on a 2070s since the aftermarket 5700XT is pretty close to them and I wouldn't deal with bad drivers. Atm I have an RX 480 and the drivers for it are s**t. After the latest my PC started getting blue screened. tl;dr Yes, IMO if you are not super restricted get a 2070s, even if the price to performance of the 5700XT is better.
  13. I was wondering the same thing. Atm local retailers have the blower 5700xt at around 900 BGN and the 2070s at around 1200 BGN so let's say 120$ difference. Dual fan 5700xt is still not available but I see that in amazon it costs almost as much as the 2070s. Local retailers are pretty f****d up so I guess they would price them the same. I was hoping to buy the 5700xt aftermarket but now I'm considering the 2070s even though I don't want to pay for a feature I won't use.
  14. That long? Well I waited half a year, so what's one more month. And yes, I agree because atm I have an RX 480 blower and it... well, blows, very loudly and not very efficiently.
  15. Yeah, I guess Linus fans would confirm what I was thinking. Also the rx 6 series might go well with my ryzen 5 (non x). If things go well this year next upgrade will be due in about 3 years (maybe more even). Where I'm from we usually have bad experiences with second hand hardware so I'd rather buy new. Atm there is a guy selling a 1070ti for 75% retail price that looks like the interface burned out.
