  1. officially gave up, ordered a core2quad Q9450 instead. It is basically the same CPU, but it provides socket 775 support stock, and according to ASUS' website, it is guaranteed to work. Maybe I would have gotten the X5450 to work, but I also want to really push the overclocks, and the Xeon has already caused enough headaches. Thanks for your contributions.
  2. Yes, I applied the sticker and checked that it is 100% seated with a magnifying glass. Didn't work so I tried with another sticker. I also cut the MoBo socket to fit as well as cleaning it out. Im determined that the CPU is installed correctly, and I checked for bent pins, should be none.
  3. Yeah, the CPU is probably the issue. Either it is dead in some way, or it could be some driver/other combatibility issue between cpu/mobo or ram. My hope is that it could be a BIOS error that is fixable, but the CPU probably has to go.
  4. Over the last couple of months, I have been planning a cheap LGA775 build with a Socket 771 CPU. It did not take long until I had a long list of problems. I can get the system to boot into windows with only 1 ram stick, but usually crashes within 5 mins. System info/Specs: CPU: Intel Xeon X5450 with mod sticker properly installed MoBo: ASUS P5B with socket modded, newest bios and Xeon microcode. No bent pins. RAM: 2 x 4 GB 800MHz low-density unregistered (confirmed to work on P5B by seller) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Here are some of the problems: -System is extremely slow and crashes after 5 mins in windows with 1 stick of ram -System is almost always unable to start with more than 1 ram stick -Overclocking is impossible past 3.1ish GHz. Even the voltage is more than enough and temps cool, it says "Overclocking Failed!" Things I have tried: -Plenty of CMOS resets -Updated BIOS -Added Xeon Microcode -Install Windows 7 Ultimate, ran through Windows Update like 5 times + installed all drivers for all parts. -Tried all RAM sticks individually on each slot, everything works -MemTest86 on all sticks individually as well as all together, 0 errors. -New modsticker on CPU -Clean out socket with compressed air -Disable almost all BIOS features like power saving features and other useless junk -Boot with only keyboard (all different USB slots tried), Graphics card, CPU and single ram slot. Then add storage -Swap out CPU with Core2Duo E6600, worked smoothly with 8GB RAM Do any of you guys have any idea what could be wrong? All help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  5. Also: Adjusting the minimum and maximum RPM under advanced settings doesn't do anything.
  6. I finally set up my watercooling rig, and it features a Swifttech MCP655 pump hooked up to an AquaComputer PowerAdjust 2 module, which controls the speed of the pump through software. I dialed the pump down to 8.0V, which is the minimum for this pump, but it is still very loud, and it's running at 3600RPM. This pump should be able to run at 1800rpm according to websites. Any ideas on how to reduce the speed? I also tried turning the voltage further down, but anything below 7.7V makes the pump stop completely.

  8. Yea, it doesn't have a molex out, but it is a specific adapter cable included for that, and the D5 pump is listed compatible in the manual, plus ive seen it on lots of forums! Once again, thank you so much for your help
  9. Yea, I think the cheap mod cables would work, but I found a much better solution! I'm kinda lazy when it comes to doing research, and I often make impulse purchaces; not a good combination... This lead me to buying an AquaComputer Aquaero 5 LT last year in hope to control my 3-pin PWM fans. It was way too hard to set up, and it just filled my case with cables completely, so I gave up on it quickly. But there is an AquaComputer module called PowerAdjust 3 that connects to the Aquaero, which is connected with usb to my MoBo. It features a molex in and out, as well as some digital magic! With this I can control the voltage of the pump digitally and make awesome curves and stuff:) It will cost some money, but it will definitely be worth it, especially because I already have the main controller. The PowerAdjust module supports up to 36W, so it's no worries at least Will of course keep u updated, you think that this is a good idea, right?
  10. Yea, I kinda just ordered my PC parts in a rush, and didn't really know the difference between 3pin and PWM fans, so yea, all my fans are 3pin lol... But that's fairly allright, I run all of them through 5/7v reducers. Btw, didn't mean "don't hesitate" in last post, meant more something like just take it chill. English is not my native language
  11. Haha once again man, thanks for your help, it really warms my heart! Don't hesitate with the maths and everything dude, I sent a mail to the eBay seller, as well as a mail to EVGA customer support asking if they think my PSU can handle the ghetto way. Will keep u updated if you want
  12. Do u think this one will work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/x2-4Pin-Molex-Speed-Noise-Reduction-Cable-Wire-Speed-Noise-Reducer-351-002-/111605845248?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fc3a0d00
  13. Nvm, that cable i posted looks totally messed up. Like it swaps a yellow cable with a red, which should fuck everything up, right?
  14. Hey man really appreciate the support. I have a single 12v rail evga 750 gold, so should be good. But does sound a bit risky indeed. But the worst thing that's gonna happed is that the pump won't power, right? It would be kinda wierd if it could totally destroy the PSU or pump
  15. Like will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-volt-4-Pin-Fan-Adapter-Cable-Speed-Reducer-NEW-/391075488208?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b0dea61d0
  16. sorry for being the biggest n00b ever, but do u know where u can buy that or what to search for on ebay? Really appreciate your help!
  17. Hey, I have had this D5 pump for a year, its a MCP655-B. My problem with it is that its too loud, and with a bit of googling, i found out that the D5 pump is supposed to have a speed control knob, however, mine doesn't have this feature. So does anyone here have any idea how to control it, or is it something that I'm missing? Thanks in advance
  18. Congratulations on 1 MILLION! I love seeing the progress of ur channel, started watching back in early 2012 when i was gonna build my first pc! My favorite series/type of episode is Linus' personal rig logs. Have watched ever since I subscribed, and he still aint done yet lol
  19. it definately is low-end. Just look how ghetto the chipset cooler is. And it also has legacy PCI slots
  20. So yesterday I got my new hyper 212 evo, and I installed it with a pair of coolermaster 120mm sickleflows. My motherboard only has 1 CPU fan header, so I used a splitter. But I am unable to control the CPU fans(they constantly run @1800rpm). Does the fans have to be PWM or something? Because the sickleflows are 3-pin.
  21. whats up with the Jaden Smith thingy with with ur uppercase letters?
  22. So here in Norway, we have this webshop called http://proshop.no. And they usually have pretty good prices, but this time it was just crazy. They had this AsRock FATAL1TY Z87 KILLER mobo for sale for just NOK 387,- (about $64). The price now is NOK 1150,- ($190). It's a great mobo it was obviously worth it, but do u guys have any clue why it was so cheap? It didn't even have a sale or rebate label x) The guy who added it to the website was high I guess? It is NOT second hand, and it is fully working. (sorry if english is crappy)
  23. Again, thank you for all the support on this topic! If you have seen my TJ07 log, you already know that i have a beast rig. I have always wanted to mod a G5. But I don't really see any point in having one. But wait, don't leave yet! I have a client that wants to buy this buid. However, the configuration will be changed around a little bit. So probably no watercooling, maybe not even a gfx card. But I will still put large amounts of time and effort into my modding. When will this rig be complete? I have no clue. I have not yet recieved all the moneys. But I have some acrylic, paint and a mobo tray. So updates will still come! It might be a little hard to paint atm because Norway and winter (i tried to paint a tj07 sidepanel and it turned out horrible lol). But anyways, thanks for reading this update, and I can't wait to post more in this topic!
