  1. Oh you know it buddy. At least this one is allegedly Zen 1, not that those cores would be very pleasant in a shitty clocked dual core anyways.
  2. Considering the fact that it has a dual-core Athlon 3050U, not really. I'd much rather have my IdeaPad that has a 1315U but only 8GB of non-upgradable RAM that I got for somewhere in the mid $300's. What I lose to never having enough RAM I gain by having a very competent CPU.
  3. I'd recommend downloading CrystalDiskInfo and seeing how hot it's actually getting. Hard drives should be fine until like 50C (not great for lifespan but they'd at least function correctly). Also, chances are unless you're using some goofy ass 6TB+ 7200RPM drive it really shouldn't be throwing a hissy fit with dickall airflow.
  4. As far as I'm aware this is not possible at all with the default file browsers that we've had since at minimum Windows 7 (and probably earlier, that's just the earliest I can remember).
  5. You'd love my Strix 2080. Granted I did buy it used, but the fans have a light tick to them (mainly at lower RPMs) and lately when they hit 0dB mode sometimes there's one that just doesn't actually turn off... And it's not the same fan every time... So that's cool.
  6. I'll throw a bone in for InfiniteCables. For CAT6 solid-core plenum stuff IC is a couple dollarydoos cheaper, though they only seem to offer it in 1,000ft rolls whereas Monoprice does 500 and 1,000. Feels like hearsay recommended them over Monoprice because of the absolutely insane amount of SlimRun ethernet cables I have now (only 16 of them).
  7. So uhhhh I also happen to own a G305 K/DA that I use with my Mac Mini (and an MX Master 3S for my laptop, but we don't care about that mouse right now), and they're fine. Battery life is decent, performance and tracking are good, and they're comfortable. However, my lord are they ass heavy. I'm typically not too picky with my peripherals; you could hand me a modern Dell mouse + chiclet-style keyboard and I'd honestly be happy, but the one thing I do like are lighter mice (or if it's a heavier mouse at least make it pretty balanced like the MXM3S). But the G305... Lordy they have some ASS. I've only used mine with Duracell Optimum's and not something like an Energizer Ultimate Lithium to save a few grams, but man... On the odd occasion I game with it, it does take a bit for my idiot brain to "recalibrate."
  8. Honestly, the lil G203 is a fantastic mouse and they can be found for dirt cheap. I picked two up (one for a secondary PC, one to replace my G Pro Wireless with a flaky side button), and even though I absolutely despise wired mice I love the idiots. They're pretty light, and the fact that the cable is just a plain ol' rubber dealio means there isn't that godawful braided shit weighing it down and catching on shit.
  9. Depending how her particular laptop's vendor decided to configure the TDP limit, it's very likely hitting that. My laptop with a 1315U was limited to 15 watts and would only go about that far on the performance cores and would stick to a measly 900MHz on the efficiency cores. I ended up getting ThrottleStop and now it'll suck down 30-35w under sustained loads and typically stays around 3.4-3.9GHz on the PC and 2.5-3.1GHz on the EC.
  10. LTT never sent me a notification that anyone replied which is great, but for what it's worth my PSU isn't anything special, just a lil EVGA GM750. And we also have to remember that every board will do different junk with the BIOS. Thankfully my board was actually reasonable by default; I believe at stock clocks it was doing about 1.23v and I was able to add on a couple hundo MHz (keeping the PC at 4.6GHz at full load and bringing the EC up to 4.0GHz) and take the voltage down to 1.2v at peak.
  11. Like October yeah. Time flies though and you may as well get used to 11 ahead of the death date.
  12. You wouldn't have to upgrade the BIOS to run Windows 11. BIOS updates generally don't have any impact on the system running an OS correctly or not.
  13. At this point you might as well use Windows 11 since the death date for 10 is steadily approaching.
  14. Unfortunately at 25Mbps there's only so much quality you can squeeze out, extra GPUs won't do you any good there. If 35Mbps is making your games fucky I would at least give ShadowPlay a shot even though it is pretty damn annoying to use sometimes.
  15. Are you not able to crank the bitrate higher? On my 2080 I have OBS doing 60,000Kbps (or 60Mbps) and ShadowPlay doing around 100Mbps with no noticeable impact to framerates.
  16. $14 to get from Canada to Texas isn't horrible all things considered. I'm sure commercial/discounted rates in Canuckistan are higher in general just due to their dollar being weaker than what we're accustomed to here in the states (not to mention CA to US fuckery), and they probably don't get hella discounted rates since they're not a shipping "powerhouse" as something like Newegg. Be glad you're not paying consumer shipping prices. If you had a small 8x6x6 box weighing about a pound, $14 would get you from Dallas to Denver with UPS. To get from Dallas to Vancouver, paying consumer prices with the same package and using the cheapest shipping option with just over a week anticipated time, you're looking at just under $40. I've worked somewhere that's a UPS Alliance partner for 3 years now so I know my way around shipping reasonably well lol
  17. The OP's idle really isn't all that great. With my monitor, speakers, PC, Precision 3420, and M1 Mac Mini (which is folding) my wall power draw is 170. If I take the monitor out of the equation we're looking at 115-120. I somewhat aggressively undervolted everything, actually gained performance, and got my system-only draw to go from just over 100 down to the mid 80s at idle.
  18. Pretty sure that port style is indicative of FW400. If I'm not mistaken FW800 is a square port, kind of similarish in appearance to miniDP at a passing glance.

My AIO is starting to sus me out and I'm not a…

I thought about it, years ago I had to use Phanteks' support and they were pretty great but at this point I'll just run it into the ground. Ideally when this thing dies in another year or two I'll be swapping out multiple components because I hate this motherboard, so maybe I'll be able to afford something nicer like the EK AIOs I wanted to go with initially.

Probably but of course I just got rid of the box last month that had the serial number and all that fun stuff on it. I mean sure, but I have 55mm of clearance for an air cooler, and yet I can shove a 280mm AIO in, provided the tubes are the correct length/thickness and the block FITS MY FUCKIN MOTHERBOARD (thank you Gigabyte/EK for that one lol). Thankfully the 12600KF isn't all that difficult to tame when it comes down to it (~130w turbo and a 95w sustained which still performs pretty darn well) and the little air cooler I'm looking at should be able to handle just fine, although it sure won't be essentially inaudible like this setup is (but it'll work great as a stopgap). To give you an idea of the tolerances/shitpacking I'm dealing with, the picture below is my system.
  21. My AIO is starting to sus me out and I'm not a fan. Lately when I turn my PC on, there's been an increasing chance of the pump making some absolutely godawful sounds like there's a bunch of air in it... But it's at the very bottom of the loop. Performance is still fine but I think for Chrimbus I'm asking for an AXP90-X53 Black since it's on a black Friday sale juuuuuust in case lol

Air cooling is simple and just works?

I would still call Phanteks to see if they can help you anyway. If you know when you purchased it, it might be enough information.

  22. Got some more little dudes to go with the yellow duck a friend gave me.
  23. Group Policy Object, it's a term that refers to the different options you have within Group Policy Editor. So in the screenshot in my post, each one of these lads that I can modify would be referred to as a GPO.
  24. No idea about the reg edit but I can say from personal experience the other two options are fine (that's why they're there after all). I use the GPO on all my installs and it hasn't let me down yet.
  25. Hard drives don't really care how they're oriented when they're running as far as that orientation doesn't change while they're running.
