  1. I am 100% sure, that they are
  2. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but it's always nice get some confirmation
  3. Hey, I was wondering if it's possible to use three SATA power cables on a Corsair TX650M, when it only comes with 2 SATA power cables, and a MOLEX cable? I have some additional SATA power cables from another build, that uses the same PSU just higher wattages. The reason I'm asking is because I want to use my old rig for a small NAS/Plex server, and it needs a new PSU. It's not going to use a lot of wattages, but I do have a fair amount of drives for storage, so I either need to get some MOLEX to SATA power adapters, or if it's possible use three SATA power cable. I don't think that it would be a problem, as both SATA and MOLEX can be plugged into the same port on the PSU, but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
  4. Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out
  5. Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with finding a new case. So I wanted to see if you guys had any recommendations. I have some criterias and a budget around 150-200$ Must have: Tempered glass side panel Black or gunmetal No brushed aluminum Minimum fan support: Front: 3x140mm Top: 2x140mm Rear: 120mm Like to have: Mid tower "Open" front panel something like mesh PSU cover
  6. So guys, I was wondering if it's possible that we will see non-server/ws motherboards with 10 gigabit ethernet connectivity, when Kaby lake is launched or if there will be a couple more generations before we'll see that? I should mention that I'm not 100% up to date with the latest news about Kaby lake, so it's likely that this have been confirmed or denied, and that I have missed it. I personally think that it could be possible that this is the generation we will see 10 gigabit being implemented by some manufacturers, and that it will be more or less a "standard" thing with next generation. I want to know your thoughts on this matter, so please let me know. By the way I'm a geek, but not a big one so I might be completely wrong
  7. Very nice projector, was looking for one to go with my home theater / gaming system, and this is just perfect
  8. I don't really have a budget at the moment, still in the early stages. I'm planning on gaming in 1440P, but I might end up in 4k (not likely at the moment). I want to get a new monitor as well. But it seems like my setup is still good, so I will get a GTX 1080 and go from there. Thank you all for the quick replies
  9. Hey guys, So I need some advice on whether I should just upgrade my GPU or build a new computer all together. I was considering getting a GTX 1080 in the near future. And was in doubt whether or not my current setup could handle the new NVIDIA 10 series. My current setup CPU: Intel i5 3570K MOBO: MSI Z77 GD65 RAM: 4x4GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1600 MHz PSU: Corsair AX760i I know that it's some old hardware and it wouldn't surprise me, if my current setup will be a bottleneck for the GPU performance. I just wanted to ask here before just going out and buy a new GPU, that I can't really use to it's fullest. I should note that I do want to make a new build at some point, but if my current hardware is still good, then I will save the money and wait a year or two with the other upgrades.
  10. Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my home media server, causing lag spikes on my local network. I'm using an old computer as a linux server, at the moment I'm only running Plex on it. But I have some problems with lag spikes with 30 seconds to 1½ minutes intevals, I know that there is some issues with having DLNA enable on some networks, so I have completely disabled that feature in Plex, but it haven't helped on the lag spikes. When I turn off Plex on my server the problem goes away, so I know that it's not the hardware. So my only conclusion is that it has to be the software. I think I have tried almost everything to fix the lag spikes, nothing seems to help. I would love to hear from one that have some experience dealing with Plex, or someone who have had a similar problem. I'll add some dumps of some of my settings, so that you guys can see if there's something wrong.
  11. Cool, thanks guys. Are there any cards you can recommend? I have heard that LSI should make some good raid cards?
  12. Hey guys So I was wondering whether I should get a raid card for my storage server, or if I should just go with software raid? I'm using Linux os at the moment and I was planning on going with 8 drives in either two raid 5 or one raid 50, haven't decided yet. I just want some input on what you guys would do. And if you could recommend a raid card in the 200-300$ range that would be awesome
  13. I would love that Kova, I really need a new mouse, have been using a Logitech g9 for years, and sadly it's in really bad shape
  14. Hey guys, I was wondering, have Noctua released their Chromax rubber modification yet, if not when will they most likely do so? It's not that big of a deal for me to get them on release day, or anything, but I like that they are thinking about letting their customers choose what their fans should look like color-wise, and I would like to get some, for my own fans. I was hoping they would be released at the same time as the Linus Tech Tips edition fans, but I haven't been able to find anything on a release date, nor have I been able to find some one who sells them. What do you guys think, is this something you want, or simply doesn't care about?
  15. Hey guys, I have a kind of theoretical question to ask you. So I'm planning on making a small home file/media server. And I want to have a raid 5 over three drives, to start with. I want to make it raid 5 with a spare disk. But at the moment I don't have the money to buy another disk (already have three disks that i will be using). I was wondering if it's something I can do rather easily, or if I have to rebuild the raid from scratch. I should mention that I will be using Linux ubuntu for the server OS, and it will be a software raid. Any help would be lovely and very much appreciated I should also mention, that I'm not interested in hearing that I shouldn't be using raid 5 with a spare disk. I have already decided, that I will use it
  16. So I am crazy, good to know
  17. Hey guys Am I crazy for considering the WD Black 2 Dual drive 120 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD, as my primary storage for games? I already have an 256 GB SSD that I use for OS and some games/programs. I know this drive is a bit pricey, but is it actually any good compared to the price point? Or am I better of getting a HDD and a SSD instead?
  18. Hey guys I was just wondering, what is the difference between gaming on a SSD and a HDD, I have looked at some FPS charts, that showed little to no difference. So I was wondering if there is any advantages at all to use one or the other for gaming? I know that for programs and OS SSD's are way faster than HDD's, so I would think that there might be a difference in loading the games, but otherwise no difference at all. I would much appreciate some of your experiences, and if you could link me either some youtube links or some links to reviews that talks about this, so I can get a better understanding of when to use SSD's or HDD's In advance thanks for your time and help Erfurt

Personally I don't see much use for 5 1/4 inch bay devices. And I would prefer a LED controller that I can plug into a USB header, and put the device in a place where it's not really showing (unless it looks awesome), I personally like this because I can get more control over the lighting in the case from a program on my computer, instead of using 'hardware' stuff to control the lighting. I also believe that it is easier to make all my RGB lights be the same color.
  20. That may be, but I hasn't saying that's it wasn't, I was just saying that there really isn't any need for a xeon, unless you're working with heavy workloads. And I stand by that.
  21. I agree with Scotty, how ever I would pick a i5 or i7 cpu for the build, it depense on how big the files are, that you're working with? Don't really see a use for a xeon cpu unless you going to use it for heavy workloads, at least that's my opinion
  22. Thanks, this was very helpful, I might go for a similar build, the minecraft stuff is just a maybe, a friend of mine is actually looking into getting one hosted But I will still take into consideration when build this
  23. Hey guys, So I want to make a home server, I'm planing on using linux as the os, and run the server as a file server/plex media server. I might even have it getting windows updates, and run a small minecraft/teamspeak server on it as well. However every time I sit down and try to find part of this 'badboy' I find some really expensive parts, that I don't really think is needed. I was looking at ASRock C2550D4I at first, but I think that it would be pretty overkill for what I'm making, and it's a bit pricey aswell. Maybe I'm wrong here, someone will properly tell me As such I don't really have a budget, other than, the cheapest you could get, that suits my needs. As for size I would love if it was a mini-itx/mini-dtx size. Micro-atx would be to big in my opinion . However I have one request about the motherboard, and that is, it should support at least 6 drives, with 2 of them able to run in hard raid would be lovely. Storage wise, I have some HDD's I can use, and I have a couple of SSD's aswell, so I'm in a good spot there. As for PSU, I think I have one that might work, but some suggestions here is very much appreciated anyway.
  24. That is true, but it isn't really a big chance in the manufacturing process, it's just changing color, nothing else needs to be tampered with?
  25. Hey guys, just wanted to get your thoughts on this. So more different color for PCB on MOBOS, I can't get my head around why manufactures doesn't give the consumer this option. I mean it doesn't really cost more to make other colors of PCB than black PCB, at least not to my knowledge. Could it be that the 'demand' for other colors just isn't there. I remember a while back that MSI posted some pictures of their next MOBO with both black and white PCB. Which I was quit stoke about, because I would love to make an all white build. But to my knowledge the white PCB was scraped. Would you guys like to see different color PCB or doesn't it matter to you? Feel free to come with comments, and telling me how stupid this post is
