Thanks for the responses. Having opened the plastic container, there is residue on both the heat spreader and the plastic container. Hopefully this means its something that I can clean off? Currently don't have any isopropyl to hand and its almost midnight here so would be a job for tomorrow.

Hello, I just received my new processor, i7 6700k, and there's an obvious mark. I've opened the box and confirmed that this on the processor lid and not just the packaging. Has anyone else has this with their processor? If I attempt to use it am I likely to have any problems? Thanks in advance booleanBoy
