  1. Yes, sound advice. Having a security or law enforcement background is a big plus. From experience, internal investigations is a big part. When there is a lul externally investigations focus's internally. Friggin witch hunts can suck! ...sometimes warranted but usually just little crap. Your BS in CS is that Cyber Security?
  2. I've got a friend i worked with. He just got a cyber security related degree. Took him about 4 months then landed a good job starting at about 50K. Only reason took so long is because no prior experience. I've got another buddy who is in the sales side and got back from the big vegas show a few weeks ago. The statistic they stated is there is about 150K job needs in this field. Tip: If you get a degree...consider the ethical hackers certificate. It's $1500 but will get you in quick. ...but stay ethical...the feds rounded up a bunch of hackers at the conference.
  3. Bronze is bottom...gold is better and platinum is best. Trident z's are about the best you can get. They are the cream of the crop above ripjaw. The lowest cas latency is the cream of the cream of the TZs. But if you want to save money go with ripjaw. Re: psu I wouldn't go with what you can get away with. I would go a few steps above to make sure your covered with enough power. There are some mobo gurus here and they did all the research and the consensus points to asus. They use Superior components and they're bios interface is really nice. That said I got a asus deluxe ii. and my first board did not post. Returned it and second one worked great. Returned board to microcenter. They took great care of me. I should tell you that asus customer support is pretty lame. So take that into consideration. I'm no guru...I am a friend of gurus.
  4. Just finished my build a few days ago. Took me about 2 months because I spent much time researching, I waited for sales and had some issues. The whole process was a bit more that I expected but I finally got there and very happy about the results so far. Had much help from gurus here. My 2 cents from what I've learned. CPU cooler. If aio stick with corsair. If air...definatly Noctua D15. Check Noctua's website to make sure compatible with mobo. Mobo...got to be asus. Ask the gurus for yourself. Ram...if you can do it.... Trident Z are the best. Psu...stay with the 600 to 750. Check pcpartpicker.com for pricing...sales (on all items) Also, If you have microcenter by you check them out. best prices! Newegg for TZ ram Case. Try to get one with removable air filters. Keep it clean. I've got a corsair 780T because of filters. I feel like its too big. The've got a mid tower that's good too. Kind of wish I got the smaller one. Go to anandtech.com for benchmarking stats of components.
  5. I watched some of the Linus ocing vids...looks very complicated. He mentioned the asus auto tune feature but that video was a bit older if i remember correct. I think there was a voltage limiter on the 5 way tuner...but you think most beneficial to totally stay away?
  6. Cool....Thanks! I'm going to need some stress test plus other software....correct?
  7. N.Egg finally got the ram in stock. I've been checking it several times a day and was able to buy it. Within about a half hour of my purchase it was sold out again. Very high demand stuff! I hope to POST next week. Finally!!! Then to oc'ing. I found something on the Asus board called 5-way optimization. I think it takes like 6 hours but it makes all the Ocing adjustments and fan setting. Do you know anything about this?
  8. yep...you're right. I've got one for my wireless router but a lot of good that'll do if my system shuts down.
  9. I've got surge protectors that are like 10years old. Do you think it's time to upgrade that item for the new build? What would your recommend?
  10. It's only about $30 more than the 15s...the problem is its been sold out for about a month.
  11. That's what i'm going with. You're my ram guru so i've got a question. The 32gb 3200c14 (4x8gb) come in either dual or quad channel. What's the difference? I can run either, i know, but whats the scientific and practical explanations?
  12. Absolutely. In TZ 32gb kits there are 13 items. http://www.gskill.com/en/finder?cat=31&prop_2=32GB+(8GBx4)&prop_3=0&prop_4=0&series=2482&prop_6=Quad+Channel+Kit&p=2
  13. Yep i've come to the same conclusion about TZs. Look at specs. It'll say either quad channel or dual channel. The one you posted stated it was dual channel. I think it has something to do the the architecture of the sticks. I would like to know more about this myself. Negg actually has a filter...dual, triple or quad channel.
