  1. It's not ECC, but it is high density ram meant for some AM3 boards. Don't buy it, I have and it was useless.

    General X58 Xeon/i7 discussion

This guy is 200 miles away from me in Medford https://medford.craigslist.org/sop/d/medford-mobo-cpu-ram/6803621669.html
  3. X58 Xeons OC very well. My x5680 is set at 4 Ghz for an everyday overclock. Many folks run them arong 4.5 GHz. I would go for a 6c/12t 5650, 75, or 80.

    RTX no Win8 drivers?

It's a free upgrade from 8, no key necessary.

    PC Upgrade

Keep your Mobo and swap to i7 and 1080/2060.

    Optiplex 790 2x8 dimm modules

Have you tried them "for testing pruposes"? Often times a motherboard will be specc'd for what is widely available at the time and work just fine with the newer larger capacities. If you haven't already, just put them in and see what happens.

    More Ram or better CPU?

How much $$ do you have? I would get the biggest SSD you can afford and call it a day.
  8. Same with Dell am3+ board I had. Doesn't work with newer cards.
  9. Correction there are no nuts, the screw com from the back, through the Mobo and spacers, and thread into the cooler arms.
  10. For lga1155 the h7 (and presumably the c7) has a backing plate, long screws that insert from the back, approximately 12mm plastic spacers that fit over said screws, and thumbscrew nuts to secure the cooler. Not sure how old your cooler is or what parts your missing but your CPU socket is normal and you're looking at it wrong.
  11. Or sell it for a good price as they are worth a lot due to the cheap xeons.
  12. That's an x58 Mobo right there. Buy a $20-$70 6c/12t Xeon for LGA 1366 and OC it to 4ghz+ and buy yourself a gtx1070 or RTX 2060. Join the x58 thread in this forum and learn how good your current system could be. Main rig is the same family as yours and still kicks ass gaming and would be great for content creation as well.
  13. Did no one read op? He would be fine with onboard graphics and is only looking for equivalent performance. It is a Minecraft server for christsake. Why is everyone recommending 1060 level performance when he clearly wants weak and cheap?
  14. Overkill for a Minecraft SERVER.
  15. Leave the CPU housing alone and you should be able to remove the bacplate and use the plasic H7 backplate. The first board looks like my Lenovo Mobo did, and I was running an h7 there.
