  1. Got a new graphics card (MSI RTX 2070) today as i upgraded from 1080p gaming to 1440p gaming.

Ran benchmarks looked ok, FPS stable and temps stable although i noticed one thing...

on CPUID HWMonitor it says under powers for the GPU that the max was at 102.16%?

For reference, i have a 550W 80+ Gold EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSU and on the box and on a PSU calculator it does say this is enough. But is the Powers on HWMonitor a concern?

Ok so this only started to happen about 2 days ago

I will be doing work or playing games, minding my own buisness when all of a sudden my computer takes a complete sezuire on me. It will first start to make lots of loud persistent beeps followed by extreme lag in any sort of peripheral input such as mouse or keyboard, although i have found that a Ctrl + Alt + Del seems to be quick but anything after that it goes back to being laggy, so potentially it isn't a software issue? (I am using Windows 10)

All my drivers and software are up to date, i used malwarebytes and avast to do several scans for viruses (this was my first thought of what the cause was) they both found nothing

Once the "Sezuire" happens my computer will not even shut down, even after a 30 minute wait, my monitors and peripherals will shut down as normal but the PC wont, i need to physically turn it off at the mains to turn it off when it does this.

    Any help?

PS. I cleaned my PC 2 months ago so i dont think it will be an issue with cooling or wires as there is too big a time frame for correlation

One thing i have noticed is the only time i have seen it do this is when im either doing uni work or ONLY play Elite Dangerous, it is still to happen to any other game. I would have said it was an issue on ED side but it did happen when i was writing a program...

  4. Ok so this has been going on for a few months now. I have a linked windows 10 account with my bog standard laptop with my main PC. Over these months i have noticed that in the recycling bin, on my laptop only NOT my PC there are...files loads of them, all appearing after a restart no matter how many times I deleted them. They are always something to do with Fallout 4 as a CSV file for Excel or other files, CIV 6 and FM18 are the newest instalments being PKM files. However, i noticed the FM18 files appeared once I booted steam on my laptop.

I have on several occasions scanned my laptop with both Antivirus and Anti Malware (AVAST and Malware Bytes, AVAST being premium and Malware Bytes free edition) restarting the PC does nothing, only re-creates the files i deleted. Im thinking this is a bug with Steam?

I am clueless, any help is appreciated!

EDIT: This is definitely a steam issue as any time i re-boot steam it dupes the files in the recycling bin

Well I've bought things off gearbest from china before and I had to pay I think it was like £20 to get it from the post office which I guess is probably on gearbest for not being transparent about that?

Maybe it's the same here then, maybe i don't pay until i collect the package or something, if so then for products that are around £20 difference it isn't worth it but anything more than that i am still saving, thank you for bringing this up, i forgot about import fees

  6. So i use PC partpicker UK and it is a very good website for me picking out parts i want for my dream builds or just to fulfil boredom.

But i am recently going to upgrade to a 1070 ti and my CPU as well to an I7, i noticed, along with the monitor i was going to be buying i was sitting at £1000...my current PC, removing software and peripherals was at £800 when i bought it...yeah expensive.

So i went onto Newegg, to see if they had a UK site, and they did (all my years i never knew they had a website based in the UK) and guess what... my products i was buying on PCpartpickers "lowest prices" was getting beaten by Newegg, some even by nearly £100. Mental.

So i then thought "Ok so will they charge me like mad for shipping" No. £10 shipping for each item.... Holy ****

why haven't PCpartpicker introduced newegg to the website? If you live in the UK and have not yet tried newegg i would highly recommend checking their UK store out.

    PS

Yes i know newegg are a great company and i knew they existed but i always thought it was American based, don't hate me

    I would not bother waiting.

As for your 1440P upgrade, are you going high refresh rate?

If you are going high refresh rate, I would pony up for a GTX 1080ti.

High refresh rates don't really concern me atm, i don't play a lot of FPS games for the extra £££

People pay that much of a premium for a supposedly binned card all the time. A stock 1080 will give you 5 to 10 fps over a stock 1070 ti and will oc just as well and often comes with a factory oc(which no 1070 ti does).

Plus theres the memory thing. If the 1070 ti were less it would make more sense, but not when the price is so close to a 1080.

Im in the same boat. My 980 struggles in some games at 1440 and im weighing 1070 ti vs 1080 vs volta.

Good to know im not the only one lol

My thinking is since it will be early next year when i will buy this we might know more about Volta and i might just end up waiting

  9. Will be buying a 1440p monitor early 2018 (Feb-March) and i would like to game at this resolution so will be investing in a new graphics card.

I currently have a 1060, while in some games it will be ok, others like FO4 and GTA V i don't think it will cut out for high settings which preferably I would like to play at.

I am planning on investing in a 1070 ti and sell my 1060 to help the payout but im now wondering should i just wait for Volta and buy a Volta card instead of a 1070ti?

FYI here is the monitor i will be getting:

  10. Ok so the new Assassins Creed game went on a 17% sale just there, been wanting to get it since it came out but my question is do I buy it now when it's on sale or use some of the Christmas money I will be getting and get it then when it might be on a better sale?

It makes no sense getting a Ryzen 5 1600 from an i5 6500 this is a side grade for the most part, if you want to make a wise upgrade without losing money update your motherboard BIOS and slap the i7 7700 on it.

Try selling the 1060 and replace it for no less than a GTX 1070 Ti

Otherwise you'll be throwing money out of the windows for barely no performance increase.

Is there much of a difference between the 6700 and 7700? Apart from a higher min speed on the 7700, I don't see much difference?

What will you do with the PC? The 1600 will be a sidegrade for many games.

    Which PSU do you have?

1060 to a 1070 isn't that big a difference. Get a card that's at least one tier higher than the 1070.

MSI AM4 boards are pretty bad.

In the advanced power settings you can find advanced power buttons and lid, and then power button action. Might be set to sleep instead of shut down.

I use my power button to turn my PC off too but I just tap it and it triggers the proper OS shutdown procedure.

Yup was set to sleep, don't ask me why but it was

  14. Early 2018 I will be planning on a small, if not huge upgrade to my PC

I will be getting a 1440p 60Hz monitor for Christmas (thanks, Santa) meaning i will have a 1080p monitor for work and the new one for games and media

So a graphics card is what I need, but if I can gather funds availible should i invest in a new CPU as well?

    Current System:

    --------------------

    i5 6500

    16GB RAM

    H170 D3HP by GIGABYTE

    GIGABYTE G1 GAMING GTX 1060 6GB

    Planned System:

    --------------------------

    Ryzen 5 1600

    MSI - B350 PC MATE

    EVGA GTX 1070 ACX 3.0

i have a 550W PSU and don't think i will need more but if you think i will let me know

Why are you pressing and holding the power button? That will cause a manual shut off. Usually takes around 6 seconds and is not the correct way to shutdown an OS as I'm sure you know.

Have you been into "power options" and looked at all the functions, and advanced functions, within it?

Well, I tried just a button press and it didn't always work, maybe i didn't wire the button up correctly will look into that.

Just went into it there and found nothing that would affect it, unless I'm blind,  I did find that my gaming hard drive would switch off after 5 minutes of inactivity so changed that

  16. Recently i have noticed that windows 10 won't shut down correctly, rather it will just go to sleep instead. When i press and hold the button on my PC some days it will shut down completely and some days it just goes to sleep.

So I started to use the power icon in windows 10 and manually click "shut down" but still, randomly it will go to sleep instead.

I have no idea what's wrong and while it isn't a huge issue it is kinda annoying

1440p is playable at medium to high at 60fps, but with a 1060 it isnt recommended.

    I could always switch

Games like Civ 6 i think will be playable at 1440 will they not? But if i was playing games like Skyrim heavy modded or Fallout 4 is it easy just to switch back to the other monitor?
