  1. EK CEO issued a statement: Let's hope that with EK himself back at the helm that the ship gets righted and those who are due payment are taken care of in a timely manner.
  2. I play at 4k, but resize to 1080p at 6kBPS. Then I record at 4k for a separate youtube upload at a much higher bitrate.
  3. What I found weird was their comparisons. They compared a 4080 Super to a 3080ti, but the 4070 Super vs the 3090.
  4. Summary Twitch, OBS & NVidia are providing an answer to only some channels getting transcoding. Using modern GTX & RTX GPUs, streamers will broadcast up to 3 resolutions simultaneously up to 1080p. Also, beta testers will experiment with higher bit rates, up to 5 concurrent streams and AV1 encoding. Quotes My thoughts FINALLY! Twitch is getting on the bandwagon of higher bitrate streaming and newer codecs. I think this will be great for content creators so their viewers will always get the right stream/resolution. My worry is, what's the bandwidth going to be like if a user is streaming 3 (or more) resolutions at the same time. Data caps be damned? 5. Summary Corsair RMx Shift PSUs - changes the side the connectors are placed. More room for hard drive trays in the basement, easier cable management up the back panel of the PC case. Quotes My thoughts Not sure why this has never been done before. It's a SIMPLE solution to a simple problem! Change the orientation of the ports, and you can retain the basement real estate. 6. Agreed - they are big enough for where they are at the moment, but not enough to get the "big boy" pricing that other integrators can command.
  7. Summary Framework laptop company, whose entire premise is upgradeability & interchangeable parts finally lets you upgrade the CPU/mainboard. They have also released a 2.5GB ethernet adapter and revised top cover. Quotes My thoughts Depending on the CPU upgrade you choose, this could be a good solution to buying a whole new laptop every couple years. But the higher end chips get into "new laptop" prices, making the high end stuff a bit less accessible. Still, they're making good on the whole "upgrade every part of your machine" promise. Adding 2.5GB is a great upgrade as well. Sources https://www.engadget.com/framework-mainboard-upgrade-140042960.html?src=rss
  8. If I spotted those boxes right, this is the switch he's using. https://smile.amazon.com/GE-Occupancy-Required-SmartThings-26931/dp/B07226MG2T
  9. why add complexity? Both his gaming rig and NAS both have an integrated 2.5GBe
  10. He was already running out of full PCIE lanes on the NAS. He's only running a consumer CPU, that has at best 20 lanes available.
  11. Couple questions re: the unRAID setup - My experience with unRAID and capture cards is that you need a Linux driver for unRAID to see and then pass through the device (tried it for an Elgato HD60 Pro). So I'm surprised you were looking to make that work, or that it worked at all. That being said, could you have not stubbed the PCI card and used ACS Override in unRAID to break the IOMMU groups up a bit more? Or did that just not work and the USB capture card was the solution?
  12. Ugh... Looks like I'm going into the open arms & walled garden of Tim Cook...
  13. My issue is my current music library - what the hell do I do with it? I mean, I can use iTunes Match to get it into their cloud - but I specifically kept my stuff in Google Music so I could go back and forth to iOS or Android as needed. Can you upload your entire library to Spotify without issue?
  14. Google Play Music being retired - YouTube Music replacing the service by end of 2020. Quotes Need my library to transfer fully to see what the experience is like on mobile - not sure if it's comparable or not yet. The transfer process is simple - click a button and then wait for it to complete (you do NOT need to sit and wait, will be done in the server background). Purchases will no longer be allowed in 30 days, all pre-orders canceled & store is shutting down. Image is an email I received today.
