When you play games on your local computer, but the files are stored on your NAS. ?

(just showing that, yes, you can play games over the network, assuming the network path is mapped to a drive)

I imagine it would be a lot more strenuous to do this with larger games.

From what I remember, Call of Duty 4 doesn't do a lot of data streaming so it's not the worst gig to run it off of a NAS.

Why keep files locally if you don't have to?

I tried this with GTA V several years ago and it was doing just fine. As long as the game isn't constantly using over 100MB/s of bandwidth, it's more or less like playing off a hard drive.

Yeah, there aren't many issues with network gaming unless you're on 100Mb/s or playing off a single drive. ITX in the bedrooms, 12U rack for the garage.

I'd be in trouble if I tried that :| Tempting but no (unless I wish to suffer), since I don't have any internal (intranet) Gbps equipment...

You only need a 100Mb/s dedicated line from your PC to the server (through a switch or otherwise). I've only had trouble with HuniePop.

    Spoiler

Which is to say no troubles.

@ARikozuM That's the problem - I don't have that available. I'm stuck with Mbps. Check my original reply...
