  1. Sounds great, My question is: "How much of an advantage would I have over other competitors just by having a portfolio of work to show?"
  2. Freemake should have you covered, it's never let me down
  3. Benefits of PHP Open Source Easy to learn (So easy to find good free learning materials) Decent performance Runs on Linux (And many other OS) Tons of frameworks and probably what you need is already made for you!!! Disadvantages of PHP Performance can be better Always going to be slight security issues due to being Open Source Not the prettiest of languages at times At the end of the day this is just my opinion, everyone will have their own opinions and favourite language which they are most comfortable with, and even though I have had to use ASP.NET a lot more than PHP I would choose PHP if I had a choice because .NET just drives me up the wall, at the end of the day choose whatever you think is right for your situation.
  4. It's been only four months after parting with my hard earned money for a 32gb kit of Corsairs finest Dominator Platinum, although rather should I say they turned out not to be their finest as one of the modules broke which meant returning the whole kit, I didn't think this would be a problem as the product in question is only a few months old, and I had heard a lot of good feedback like "Corsair customer care is the best" and whilst I agree with that to some extent at the same time I feel it could be far better... The RMA process was pretty decent as it goes but nothing much different from any other business I have dealt with, you simply contact them, send them your invoice and they give you some documents for returning the product, however one big difference with Corsair is that you will be left paying the cost for their error as you will be expected to pay the postage for your new paper weight to be sent back to them for RMA, now I would agree that is fair enough for a product covered by the lifetime warranty that is over a year old, but for a product under a year old I think that is totally unacceptable, especially when I have to send it overseas which costs even more money than a standard shipping across the same country. Over the years I have had desktops, laptops and even stuff from eBay fail on me within a standard warranty period (usually 12 months) and I have never had to pay for the broken products to be sent back, that was all arranged and paid for by them, that is what I call excellent customer service, Corsair customer service is not excellent, it is not bad either as you can call them for free over Skype and they do offer lifetime warranty on various products but apart from this there is not really much else going for them. I am not saying Corsair should be paying the shipping costs because of the lifetime warranty, I wouldn't expect them to pay for the shipping if my five year old RAM broke even though it had a lifetime warranty, but I just think it makes sense to pay for the shipping for a defective product which is not even a year old and has developed a problem. At the end of the day I think Corsair needs to address this issue, because until they do I will not be dealing with them or any other company like this, and I will be making it aware to other people what they can expect should their premium priced products have a defect within the RMA. I am not a Corsair hater I have a few of their products but I just feel I have been shafted by poor quality and poor RMA and I don't want to see other people have to deal with this stuff. Will be good to hear your views / opinions on this, and if you have had any success getting Corsair to reimburse you for shipping costs.
  5. Exactly so we don't need stupid EU initiatives making this monitoring system mandatory, if people choose to want it then fine that's up to them but it shouldn't be made mandatory like how the EU wants it, the UK has said it don't mind it being optional but does not back having it as a mandatory solution... there is also a reason why there is no immigration cap for EU citizens, it is against the law for us to have one, and there is very little we can do about it and many other laws for our own country we can't even control, and at the end of the day the people of this country never got to have a say about any of this so we have a right to complain about it.
  6. Just another reason why Britain needs to leave the EU as fast as possible... How do we know they won't use this to invade our privacy???
  7. I literally only ran the test for a minute so something was obviously weird, anyway I pulled a stick out and no errors, and so far with all of the ram re-seated no errors but will do a 12 hour test to confirm this.... if it was something as stupid as the ram being unseated then geez hahaha
  8. Had some recent crashes so decided to test the ram (running Corsair Dominator Platinum kit) and as you can see from the memtest it is showing errors... just wondering though does this mean that there is a very good chance it is just my ram that is dodgy or that some other hardware could be causing the ram to fail?
  9. Thanks for the help think I will carry on bench-marking and in the meantime borrow a friends PSU so I am 100% sure that it's not the PSU causing it...
  10. Had my EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked for just under four months, it only coil whined during bench-marking... now recently I was getting all setup for StarCitizen dog fighting module so re-installed hanger module and once again got a lot of coil whine when playing it, but now it appears to be happening on games I used to play often and never had any coil whine what so ever. Don't think it is my PSU because it is brand new (Seasonic 1000w platinum series) Don't suppose anyone knows any way of improving the coil whine? At the moment I am keeping the benchmark running hoping it will eventually break in the GPU... I don't really want to take the water block off and RMA this but it's just so annoying!!!
  11. I know a few people with BT Infinity and one of them gets near enough exactly what they pay for, my other friend who lives in a student area close to his uni gets awful speeds which I assume is because they have too many subscribers in the area, they did say they was upgrading the network though so maybe he has faster speeds now, I had to choose a while ago and went with Virgin Media as they offered more for the same price and I always get over 100Mb and will be getting 150Mb sometime in may. Only downside with Virgin Media is the traffic management but that has only affected me once when I was downloading 10 movies at once, aside from that I use a VPN to hide my torrenting and they only manage you in the evening so people making a big deal over it are either downloading a hell of a lot of stuff, torrenting without a VPN or just crying about it without seeing for themselves that the majority of the time your hardly ever going to get throttled by them anyway, even when I was throttled 50Mb is still really fast and after an hour they restore the speed back if you cut back a bit.
  12. The build is finished for now (Finished a few weeks ago) been busy last few weeks so only just had time to post on the progress, overall it went well, will be improving the tubing and adding the second GPU and hard drives in the summer, until then I guess that is it for now!!! More photos on Flickr
  13. Thanks for the reply, I now have the four fans running at 1000rpm so now I feel a lot more comfortable knowing I should have plenty of headroom
  14. Thanks for the kind words!! Yeah I am going for a nice balance between silence and performance to be fair, I will probably overclock enough so I can easily keep the temps and sound low enough so it's quieter than the intel fan... which is really loud at the moment. I will probably get a fan controller later on down the line at the moment I can control the fan speeds through temperature levels in the BIOS but sadly it don't let you set the fans to a specific rpm... which I think it a bit silly but ohwell
  15. Oh yeah I forgot to mention my hardware Intel i7 4930k, GTX 780 Ti and will also be cooling the motherboard and my pump is XSPC Laing D5 Thanks for the advice, I guess I can only try it out and see what happens I suppose.
  16. I am running a Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 480mm radiator with four Corsair SP 120 Quiet editions now my odd problem is that because of the cables being short they are plugged in to different fan headers and one set of fans is running at 1000rpm and the other set at 600rpm... now I have ordered an extension cable so I can access the other fan headers if needed so my question is what fan speed is ideal for keeping everything in my loop at decent temps and would there be any problem running watercooling with the current fan setup? I plan to get the other set of fans running at 1000rpm but until then would it be fine running with the current speeds?
  17. Decided to give you all an update, as a lot has gone on these past few days... Firstly I got fed up waiting for the RM 1000 so I decided to buy a Seasonic 860w Platinum as it was in sock, I just had to pay a bit more.... Also the PC is now working with air cooling and I am already enjoying being able to play games properly once again!! Decided to fit the radiator and fans in to the case as I would have only had to have done it later. Fitted motherboard and drilled the mounting holes for the tube res, there wasn't really anywhere else to put it, so I decided to stick it there. After all that (the radiator was a pain to fit with the short screws) I decided to do what all British people do best and drink a nice cup of tea PSU finally arrived and I must say I am very happy with it so far, it is extremely quiet when my pc is idling (standard mode), and with hybrid mode on it don't even spin when idling. Finally putting all the parts together, it felt like forever waiting for them all... especially the PSU Was surprised to see that the motherboard is lit up when the PC is not booted up Even more lights when it is booted up, wasn't expecting a stock Intel fan to have a led inside it either... that was a surprise, looks very nice in a dark room Was a relief to see this, the ram was installed in the wrong slots because I thought I knew better than to read the instruction booklet  Decided to do some quick cable management to tidy things up a bit, run out of cable ties so I will finish it off when I get some more. So far so good I think, I am satisfied with how it looks so far and I am glad I changed out the PSU otherwise I still wouldn't have a computer... Another thing I will say is that whilst I love the 900D the drive cages are bloody awful and they always fall apart when I am installing hard drives, also some of the screws are poor quality as there's is a certain bag of screws which always turn my fingers black... apart from that no complaints. I now have all the blocks and gear I need for the waterc00ling, all I need is some extensions for the fans on the radiator and the pump and I can have fun installing and cooling this beast, so watch out for that!!
  18. ^^ Simply for aesthetical reasons to be honest with you, anyway more stuff arrived today!!! Pump Rad CPU Block Tubing (Noticed it was real short so ordered some more... Res Coolants (Mayhems Purified H20 and Aurora) Compression Fittings Fans Motherboard Lots of Haribo for being a good Overclockers UK customer!! Just waiting on the PSU and then I can get the system running with air cooling to test the parts, and then just need the gpu / mobo block and another few bits I ordered to arrive and I can have a lot of fun putting all this together.
  19. Around £1500 all together.
  20. Reason for the 1000w PSU is because I plan to do dual / tri SLI in the future and also because the price im paying is not much more than the 850w PSU, the reason there is only one GPU atm is because believe it or not I am on a budget but I plan to add parts on to the build every 4 months until it's all done!! Good news is a fair amount of my parts came along today!! Mobo should be here by tomorrow. Bad news is the PSU won't be here until next week, and I will be waiting even longer for the watercooling parts but at least with the CPU fan I brought I can test the parts out to make sure they are all working before installing all the cooling.
  21. New Blood is going to be my new main work / gaming rig replacing my old faithful Q6600 build which was a pre-built pc brought back in the day when I had no idea you could build your own computers. The main theme I am going for is a clean simplistic look which is prominantly black and whatever colour the coolant in the system at that time will be (I will switch it to a different colour every time it needs changing) so it will be interesting to see what the end result will look like, and wether it will look any good or not. 22. Thanks a lot for taking a look, will start ordering all the parts!!

  24. Taught myself basic web development at home using YouTube and learned Java, C#. ASP.NET and Assembly programming at uni, although really most of the stuff they teach you is from a book anyway.
  25. Not sure how I survived on 2mb ADSL for so long, but I guess it was better than dial up...
