  2. old thread, but if anyone is interested still http://www.neobits.com/tycon_power_systems_poe_msplt_usb_802_3af_at_to_p8024776.html?atc=gbp&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxdPNBRDmARIsAAw-TUl25wkPvrc0-1xnuO3NkVL_DWxjxncB5edje72xBAFtGg1HUpvk4AgaAimYEALw_wcB
  3. So i had to change my brakes on my car the other day. while at the automotive store looking for anti-sieze compound, i thought why cant any of these be used as thermal paste? they have metals in them, and use the same metals that the thermal paste use, and can withstand temperatures as high as 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. when searching online whether this would be a viable option, it was apparent that many people swear that this works, but no hard evidence between the different types (copper, silver, graphite, etc) and brands. i think this would make an excellent LTT video!
  4. FSB, QPI, Etc. Technologies. i just posted a thread under CPU trying to better understand how QPI works in XEON Processors where i had 4 links and want to upgrade the CPU to a 1 link version.
  5. I have a Dell R810 with 32x 4GB sticks of memory. the server currently has 2x L7555 Processors in it and i want to upgrade them to E5-8870. i noticed that the L7555 has 4x QPI Links and the 8870's have 1x. I plan on immediately replacing 2x and then adding the remaining 2x once i obtain two additional heatsinks. my worry is that i will loose functionality due to the 3x less QPI links. can someone shed some light as to how this change may affect my abilities on the server? Thanks in Advance!
  6. Looking to build a PC using a motherboard that will allow me to install a beefy socket 2011 i7 processor today and swap out to dual xeon's tomorrow. i looked into a few ASUS boards, but none are clear if they support a single i7. i know that dual i7's aren't possible at least that was the case a few months ago when i did some research, i was just hoping that the bios could possibly disable one socket and support an i7 and then allow for an upgraded rig when i needed more power and cores.
