  1. thanks then what i'll do is use one to power one monitor and another to power my main one . There really shouldn't be a problem with this...RIght? btw my setup is a bit over the top with power(its the best coral has and has over 1000 watts). I know it supports dual boot(because I built it) and my motherboard is an Gigabyte Z87X fyi.
  2. Can I dual boot a Nvidia GTX 550 and an Nvidia GTX 760? I haven't got the Nvidia 760 yet and before I do I want to know if I can dual boot it with my current 550. So please let me know if you have dual booted either this combination or another combination that's Nvidia.
  3. It was running a game before the overheat, but it was by far hotter then anything else in the system and at the very least well over 60 C (yes i can feel 60 C)
  4. "Also why on earth did you upgrade from 750w to 1000w? 750w was overkill already." because a computer tech told me to. I thought it was overkill, but he said I needed more... and I ran the test and my fans started up spinning. So this means it is my motherboard right?
  5. Ok Guys So I've have had problems with my PC(not starting and shutting down) and got a tech to come round and have a look. He said that it was caused by a PSU without enough power to support my system. So I upgraded from a 750W system to a AX1200 1000W system. So everything was fine and dandy until again it crashed and this time I know it was my graphics card overheating.(when I touched it my hand got burned) Anyway after an hour of letting my system cool(no power to it what so ever) I started it up again.... And it started for a 2 seconds and then my PSU clicked and it turned off for 4 seconds before repeating the same process. It only stopped when I pull the plug. So I removed my graphics card and powered it up, the same thing as before happened. it started for a 2 seconds and then my PSU clicked and it turned off for 4 seconds before repeating the same process. It only stopped when I pull the plug. So I planned on doing a paper clip test, but I can't as my 24 pin connector is all black I rest the CMOS(but it did nothing) I know its not the RAM I checked that less then a week ago and found it normal. So guys what is causing the problem the Motherboard or the PSU? My system build has: 1 hard drive 1 SSD Z87X-UD3H Motherboard Radeon HD 6850 Grapchic card Internet card Cool Master tower i7 4700k 6 fans not including the PSU fan and the GPU fan
  6. So your computer keeps crashing/turning off randomly or in a pattern(every 30 min)... This is not good and there are lots of reasons why... 0: Before we even start make sure you have a LEGAL copy of Windows and that it is fully registered.(Microsoft with Windows 8 turns it self off every hour if you don't have a LEGAL registered OS) to check Click start -----> right click computer ------> click properties -------> look under Windows activation. This can solve your problem. 1: check your computers temperature using CoreTemp. if the temperature never goes above 80 C then this isn't your problem, but if its in the 60-70 range I would start to worry. If it does then your problem is that your computer is shutting down due to overheating. 2: If your temps are working restart windows and go into BIOS mode. Leave it. If it does not crash when in this mode then re-install or repair your Operating system and run a Virus checker because that means its software related/ could be. 3: if your computer still does not work then update your BIOS, warning this can destroy your motherboard if it shuts down while updating, or if you use the wrong one. If its a custom made, then get it from the Motherboard site, if its pre-made then make sure its from the site of the guys who made it.(Dell for example) Also Make a backup and you will need a flash drive. 4. If it still does not work then it is Hardware related. Check for short outs, and any damage on the motherboard. Then run a test on the RAM, PSU, and Motherboard.(In that order, it is very unlikely to be the Motherboard). Then get that part replaced. 5. if it still does not work get professional help.(Not from any from or the Internet, but from someone who comes to your house to take a look at it.)
  7. Ok so if this happens to anyone who is looking this up Here's to find out what is causing it. 1: If that does not work then check your computers temperature using CoreTemp. if the temperature never goes above 80 C then your safe, but if its in the 60-70 range I would start to worry. 4. Then get that part replaced. 5. if it still does not work get professional help.(Not from any form or the Internet, but from someone who comes to your house to take a look at it.)
  8. the problem has not abated. So I plan to get some internet on it and then update the BIOS.
  9. Sorry let me just clarify what I mean by some of them "Processor has to be the same make as motherboard" I meant as in terms of Intel or AMD. and with the graphics card thing I said what I have heard is constantly for what the average person is willing to go for, so not the Titain AMD is better. But even you stated this when you said "anything in the last two years... Yes for AMD but a no for Nvidia " which does suggest that AMD is ahead of Nvidia. Anyway i'm not looking for a debate I just wanted to see if my line of thinking was massively wrong in anyway, so thanks for explaining yourself btw it was late at night when I posted this(around 1 am) so I may not have gone into enough detail with my post sorry :(
  10. Ok I got some professional from a guy who builds server computers for million/Billion Dollar companies and he said it has to be a heating issue, so I have now add a Hyper 212 CPU cooler to the system.
  11. You will need: motherboard: just make sure it will work and was made this year or last year. Processor(has to be same make as motherboard e.g. intel): intel is probably the best and I would go with the i5 unless you plan to do editing then go with and i7. RAM(memory): about 8 gb min and 16 gb is what you will need most although if you are going for a super computer then get 64 gb of ram Graphics card: anything made in the last 2 years and I would recomend AMD becuase they are ahead of other graphic card makers. A case and PSU(power supply unit): I used the Zalman 12 plus which does not have a PSU. hard drive or SSD or both: I would recommend a 2T hard drive and an SSD to put the operating system on and choice games. an optical drive: this doesn't really matter what you get. You need to tell us what case and the psu it comes with, or if their isn't one and how much he/she is willing to spend on the computer.
  12. 1st test: 30 min 2nd test: 27 min 3rd test: 30 min each test was done by leaving it running on low-demand games. Test 3 involved the computer open and an additional fan was added to the computer. When the computer was shut down they components felt cool. Also I double checked the electricity requirements and it is by far lower then what the PSU can provide. From these tests it is cleared some sort of hardware causing the computer to shut down at 30 min intervals. It can not be a virus as I have uninstalled everything and re-installed windows and the computer has not connected to the internet since then. However I will still run a nortan scan. Also from test three I can conform it is not heat related. so does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
  13. Alright it has crashed again and im timing it to see it crashes on a timer.
  14. all right so I re-installed windows 7 and all the drives/chips and my internet still does not work. So at this point I am buying a network card PIC slot and if anyone has any good recommendations then let me know. . It will take around two days to arrive. However I have not seen any crashing yet, but that does not mean it is solved.
