I really like the suggestion of one of the DOOGEE flagships. A phone that puts function above appearance and the inclusion of a thermal camera would be handy for him. I would think an iPhone would have be suitable but the lack of side-loading + glass back makes it an ill advised option for the client. Another option I would be interested in seeing Linus try is a Pixel running GrapheneOS with sand-boxed Google services. Though it does come at the cost of no android auto or google pay.

How to use Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spyder Steering Wheel on PC
Grunty Game replied to DiegoWithLag's topic in Peripherals
For anyone who finds this with the same problem. The Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider only works with the Xbox One and Microsoft Store games. Unfortunately, there appears to be no custom drivers to allow it to function outside of these environments. So if you've bought this for PC, I hope you like Forza games. -
I've kept all the laptops and PCs my family goes through so I can use them for backups and RAIDS. However, all the HDDs seem to have some kind of feature is preventing me from viewing or modifying partitions. My computer recognizes the drives and S.M.A.R.T. reports the drives are working. I've tried removing permissions, formatting and repairing through cmd. If someone had a solution that doesn't involve restoring old laptops please let me know.

I would also recommend opening control panel, click uninstall programs, sort by date, then carefully (one by one down) search the list and uninstall anything don't remember installing or that wasn't on the computer on day one. This should remove adware that the antivirus may consider safe. I would highly recommend changing all your passwords for everything because at least one of the viruses would have grabbed your login details for websites.

What product would you like to see us review that we haven't yet?

Milk that tastes like real milk. -
I would switch the SSD for a larger HDD. Since he's he's new to PC gaming he won't have the speed expectation of us and he won't run out of storage after installing 4 big games. Consider a 1TB WD Blue with a 120GB SSD for the boot drive. https://www.komplett.dk/product/753350/hardware/lagring/harddiskssd/harddisk-35/wd-desktop-blue-1tb-35# https://www.komplett.dk/product/891037/hardware/lagring/harddiskssd/ssd-25/kingston-ssdnow-uv400-120gb-25-ssd-oem#

80 PLUS Efficiency and What It Really Means
Grunty Game replied to STRMfrmXMN's topic in Power Supplies
My bad. I got my predictions horribly wrong. The predicted load draw of the system would be ~375W. -
80 PLUS Efficiency and What It Really Means
Grunty Game replied to STRMfrmXMN's topic in Power Supplies
So if I had a gaming PC with a worst case scenario max power draw of ~450W would something similar to a Cooler Master B2 Series 600W do the job? -
Looking at this topic I think I'll get an RX480 to replace my GTX 950 and take advantage of free sync. I will miss the ease of geforce experience capture though.

All the settings were as you listed above by default and the updates did nothing. I've thinking it's just going to be easier saving for a 2tb HDD that I could perhaps run in raid with the one currently in my PC.

bottleneck Does i3-6100 bottlenecks the gtx 1060?
Grunty Game replied to Petikeki's topic in Graphics Cards
My GTX 950 performs quite well @1080p in non AAA titles. World of Tanks/Warships, Kerbal Space Program and Source Engine games (excluding Titanfall) run at >60fps while XCOM 2, Planetside 2 and Space Engineers run at about 50fps. Just something to think about. -
CrystalDiskInfo recognises the drive and says health is "good". I'm not sure how to check the SMART information though. (Edited) If I'm looking at the dots then all of them are blue.

Nope. It was the laptop's internal HDD and I've installed it in my desktop.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap power supply. It was noisy and within 3 months the fan started giving out. Get one with a brand you've heard of before.

My laptop's screen died (runs fine on HDMI) so I thought I'd put it's 700GB HDD in my desktop. I can't use it though. The BIOS for my Gigabyte GA-H110M-H recognises it as a 750.1GB drive and supports it but when I run Windows (doesn't appear in explorer). It appears in disk manager and diskpart but with a volume of 0MB, "no media" and I can't format or initialize it. The HDD is currently setup as the laptop's boot drive. Is there a tool or hardware alteration that could fix this?

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I did find a PC board that upon first glance supports my CPU. Here's the link for anyone interested. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/PC-motherboard-with-FCPGA946-socket_60292541954.html?spm=a2700.7724838.0.0.21kUuG -

I'm sure there's plenty of threads else where for comparing benchmarks. -

cpu Laptop CPU in Desktop
Grunty Game replied to Grunty Game's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The two biggest things I want to over come are CPU throttling and more USB ports. So based on what everyone has said Mounting the mother board to a case doesn't seem too bad of an option. -
Hey people, I currently use a media editing laptop for my projects and gaming but due to the limitations of laptops I would like to build a desktop. The laptop's CPU is a quad core Intel i7(M) and I'm very happy with it's performace. Since I'm in a tight bugget I was concidering using this CPU in the desktop. So I want to hear you thoughts on: Can it be done? What complications are involved? Am I better off buying a new CPU?
