  1. Hello I'm trying to find the most quiet gaming laptop. I don't care how big it is. I just hate laptops that are loud. I'm trying to spend between $1000 and $1500. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  2. Its a fairly simple question, and it starts with the premise that over the years we've had different operating systems, that when they started out did vastly different things. Then over the years they evolved to be more similar. Android and iOS, Windows and OS X. They still have different design languages sure, but when you look to see how many times Windows has borrowed something from OS X or times iOS has borrowed from Android. As humans we only have so many physical ways we can interact with and control hardware and software. So my questions are... Will the User Interfaces that we use today eventually evolve to the point where we have the perfect UI and at that point be the same? And if that is the case and we assume that there are still different company's offering different brands of the same UI, what would make us want to chose one over the other? Any Thoughts?
  3. for games you could use "can you run it" http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri requires that you run some software on the pc in question I believe, its been a long time since I've needed to us it.
  4. depending on the size of the laptop he/she might be able to find a skin. Something similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Decalrus-Toshiba-Satellite-Radius-CFRadiusL15wWhite/dp/B00ZPWKCXS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436819301&sr=8-1&keywords=white+laptop+wrap
  5. hmm well I guess you could try disabling the wireless and DHCP on the modem effectively attempting to turn into into just a modem and then use the r7000 as the only router.
  6. I'm assuming that the NVG is the actual modem that your getting internet from. With that said: enter the setup for the r7000 and set its wireless ssid and password to be the same as the NVG make sure they are operating on different channels preferably very different, then turn off DHCP on the r7000. This will make is so that the NVG is still issuing IP addresses and routing traffic but the r700 will be able to be used as both a wired and wireless access point. Just make sure you take 1 ethernet cable from the back of the NVG to one of the switch ports on the back of the r7000 (not the wan port) since the wireless ssid and password are the same any mobile device you move between the two should automatically connect to the strong access point. in this explanation I made the modem to be the main device that routs everything because in my experience when dealing with a modem/router thats usually the better choice. For my setup I got rid of the modem/router and just went with modem and then added my own router to the network. I find that works much better.
  7. so if I'm understanding you correctly you want the R7000 to be your main router and you want the nvg to be a wireless access point and switch?
  8. Oh yeah no I don't know if there is software that compresses files and deletes them as it goes. I feel like if something went wrong during the compression or you canceled the compression part way that would be very bad.
  9. honestly I'm curious to see what happens at this point, let the archive finish compressing and let us know what size it is now compared to the 47GB it was. Although I still don't think it will be much smaller then 47GB but it will allow you to transfer the data quicker disk to disk if its all compressed into one archive.
  10. it was suggested earlier that it could be a driver issue. If you had any previous amd or nvidea graphics drivers installed, uninstall them and install the latest official drivers form AMD then try reinstalling the graphics card.
  11. so when the graphics card is plugged in you can't see anything? do you have an old/different graphics card to test the mobo with? also sorry to have to ask this but when you have the graphics card in the system do you have the cable coming from the graphics card to the monitor or are you still running it from the motherboard?
  12. is the graphics card turning on when you start the computer? are the fans spinning up? when you go to device manager is there a yellow triangle for graphics drivers?
