I have loved games all my life. My first gaming PC I used had a AMD Althon II, Some nVidia GT card & an extremely crappy 144p block display. (This monitor was used in 1990's & I used it in 2007)

  1. Ok. Thanks for the advice. I have decided to keep the power supply and not replace it.
  2. Just a techquickie video I found explaining power supplies. Somewhere in the video Linus mentions "efficiency" & wattage.
  3. I have decided to replace my Corsair HX1000i PSU because my PC only requires 440W, while this PSU is pulling 1000W from the wall. Far to much. I have found 5 PSUs that I think are good. If you have any other suggestions for PSUs, please, tell me. I have listed them below: Cooler Master V650S - NZ$286.35 Cooler Master V750S - NZ$264.49 Corsair RM650i - NZ$310.49 Corsair RM750i - NZ$333.49 Corsair HX750i - NZ$356.51 Please keep in mind that these prices were got from PB Tech & are the RRP in New Zealand. Here is my build If you need any info: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/user/TheFernGamer/saved/MgtPxr Budget maxium is NZ$2000 (around 1.4 US$ or 1.8 CA$)
  4. Oh no, here we go... I have had so many annoying experiences with this kind of stuff. In no particular order: 1. No, you open a new window (tab opening) 2. If you didn't play around with it, you wouldn't get infected (virtual machines/VMs) 3. Why would you want to replace the OS that came with the PC (Linux) 4. If I reinstall, my PC won't work (Clean install, Drivers & Bloatware) Those are the experiences that I have had with non-techy people & technology.
  5. Is there any difference between razer's switches & cherry mx? Also, what is your opinion on razer's switches?
  6. Thanks for the help. Looks like even after installing all of those games I will have 900+ (I think 914) GBs.
  7. Still, no. I perfer HDDs for mass storage & SSDs for OS Data/Program Data. . BTW, Please don't continue threads that have been marked answered. Not a mod, just trying to help out.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion, but pass. The last SSHD that I looked at had a form factor of only 2.5" "@" 5400RPM. Rubbish for a desktop PC. Gaming or not.
  9. Thanks for the advice. When I have some money walking around, I will probaly upgrade to a WD Black so I can have 7200RPM+ On drives more than 2TB.
  10. Ok. So if I need more capacity I should buy another 3.5" 1TB WD Blue "@" 7200RPM. I would buy a Black if I could afford it. Anyway, i'm using a Kingston SSD for the boot drive so only games & documents on the HDD.
  11. Thanks for the advice. On a side note, what is the average amount space that games take up? The games I will be playing: The Sims 4 (Expansion Packs Only) Cities: Skylines (Gold Editon After Dark) Papers, Please BeamNG.drive Fallout 4 Just Cause 3 The games I generally play are Simulation, FPS (First Person Shooter) & Soft body physics.
  12. PLEASE NOTE: THIS TOPIC IS NOW SOLVED. THANK YOU. I am currently thinking of upgrading my current rig. I noticed that there was a 3.5" 3TB WD Blue "@" 5400RPM The HDD I currently have is a 3.5" 1TB WD Blue"@" 7200RPM. Any advice would be appriciated.
  13. I would recommend a R9 or R7 (Extreme/Enthusiast Grade) with 4-6GB because EyeFinity if you are using a multi-monitor setup because it is much eaiser to use than nVidia's rubbish multi-monitor support. Home it helps. On a side note: If you are going to get an nVidia card, If you want an extreme/enthusiast grade card, get the GTX 980ti. The Titan X & Titan Z are overpriced pieces of junk.
  14. No. I will not pay for Vessel. With (in my opinion) Youtube Red going into the wall 5 hours after public release, Vessel seems like the exact same thing. Again, this is only my opinion, I repeat, this is only my opinion.
  15. Thanks for the advice, @TrigrH. I have decided to go with a 1080p monitor.
