  1. tried just setting it to 8000MB first, that didnt help. did the system managed one, and it set the paging file to 32 gigs... dunno if it is fixed now, but thats a pretty large amount of space for a paging file.
  2. i've been running into a lot of "low memory" messages lately while working on music on my workstation (ableton live 10 can be a massive memory hog) but whenever i check my RAM in task manager, im using 24 out of 32 gigs of RAM. this is clearly not "low". anyone know why this is happening and/or how i can make it only give that message after 30 gigs used?
  3. VGA works yeh. i could use remote desktop, but since i already have an old KVM, i'm used to the workflow of having a seperate screen, keyboard and mouse to access the servers with.
  4. so I just moved, and I now have a server closet. which means my servers do not reside under my desk anymore. sadly this means the old "dumb" KVM switch i had doesnt reach anymore, and is also a huge mess of cables. i'm looking for a fairly cheap-ish upgrade, it needs to have room for 4 servers, and the one thing i cant seem to find is a KVM switch that comes in 2 parts, linked together by a single cable. (so 1 box at the interface end, 1 box at the server end) anyone have any idea on where to find something with such a 2 part system for a reasonable price? or should i just give up, and go with a 4 port KVM over CAT5 switch?
  5. i'm currently looking for a cheap tablet-style device to use for taking notes and other quick things that i'd rather not whip out my laptop for. performance (past not struggling to load up the OS and maybe a couple of browser tabs) doesnt matter much. i'd preffer it to be a 10inch ish tablet with a keyboard case, either windows or android and of course amazing battery life. bonus points for being rugged, having decent storage and having wacom's pen tech built into the touch display. currently im looking at the samsung tab active pro (currently in prerelease where i live for 600 euro's, theres no price for a keyboard yet.) or a microsoft surface go (secondhand, 419 for the 128gb model + pen, and another 60 ish euro's for the keyboard). so this is my callout to all the tech nerds here, which of these two would you recommend? or should i check some other options? which other device would you personally pick for this task?
  6. ooooh thats sketchy.... yup. also lmao. this might actually be a scam tbh.
  7. you can view each individual core in MSI afterburner.
  8. i used to have an older AMD cpu, their old stock coolers look incredibly similar to intels. anyways. OP. if you think it isnt a scam go for it. those monitors alone are already maybe half the price of that system, same for the 1060. do upgrade the CPU though.... i had a CPU very similar to whats in there and it does not perform that well in games.
  9. that can be done in three ways, you can lower the mics input volume and add some gain afterwards, add a gate to the input (which causes any sound below X Db to just not be output) or more likely. get a better mic. specifically one that only captures sound in close-range. i suggest also investing in an audio interface. a cheap option for that would be the behringer U-phoria UM2. along with that, if you know what general direction the background noise usually come from you can position your mic such that the noise is in the mics deadzone, and you can do some acoustic treatment to your room.
  10. install msi afterburner if you havent already, set up monitoring to monitor your CPU and GPU usage, load up a game. see if the CPU sits at 100% while the GPU sits at 50%, then your GPU is being bottlenecked. OR you have vsync on/your framerate capped.
  11. whats your exact problem? background noise that its picking up or some form of internal noise?
  12. as far as im aware the only way to turn windows 10 update checker off is to not be connected to the internet.... although i could be wrong since i use windows 8.1 and that one just has a toggle switch for automatic updates.
