  1. MetallicAcid's Thank you to my sponsors: Welcome to my project named Elegance. This is a personal project which will be used as a light gaming/HTPC in the living room. With this PC I plan on introducing some games to my wife, and hope to spark up an interest in co-op gaming. There is a strong focus on design with this project as there is not alot of space to work with. I plan on focusing on extremely clean cables, a sleek industrial interior and improving the ventilation to the Graphics card. This project is named Elegance as I want this project to have a sleek look inside which matches the brushed look on the outside. There will be super clean cabling, and will also be a better performer than stock This project will consist of the following hardware: CPU: Intel Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition G3258 CPU cooler: Cryorig C7 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87N-Wifi GPU: EVGA GTX750Ti 2GB ITX PSU: SilverStone SX600-G SSD: OCZ ARC100 240GB RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB 1866mhz Chassis: Raijintek Metis Silver - Windowed The mods that will happen: This project will have my custom signature inside paneling with a brushed finish. These panels will cover and streamline the inside of the chassis, and various components. I will reverse the reverse layout, so that the chassis' motherboard orientation will be as a standard chassis. This is for 2 reasons: 1. No one has done it before and 2. To improve and supply airflow to the graphics card. Create an IO shield and Wifi card panel on the motherboard Maybe install watercooling loop. Final words.. So with this all said and done, let's get on with the project shall we? Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  2. Cheers guys!! I really enjoyed working on this project /J
  3. Love the review! I am picking up my sponsored Metis today for a new project. Also, ALUMINIUM is the correct spelling in my books. Keep up the nice work, and correct spelling! /J
  4. It was extremely easy to paint @SYPH. There are some screws to loosen, then it just lifts off from the motherboard. I used plastidip, and gave the armour 4 very thin coats, with around 30mins drying between each coat, then let it dry for 48 hours before attaching it. Hope this helps. /J
  5. Trying to get S-Frame started now :)

YES :) Pls link me to it MA

  6. Hopefully. I already have the chassis but just need some hardware! Oh I didn't know that! I don't know what to change it too.. Are there any other suggestions from you guys what I should make it?? /J
  7. Thank you all once again for checking out the project. I am hard at work trying to get the S-Frame and Osmi projects to life. See you all in a little while /J
  8. Hey guys!! Firstly, I am just one person at MetallicAcid Customs I had to mod the GPU this way as it doesn't fit otherwise due to the tall heatpipes.. An oversight I didn't realize until I get the GPU installed I have the GPU on a PCIE riser, which is screwed onto the L plate which is then screwed into the floor of the chassis from underneath. The GPU bracket was replaced with a custom one which is pop riveted onto the back plate visible from outside of the chassis. The GPU is first attached to the riser, then the L plate is attached inside the chassis. I then screw the GPU connections onto the backplate. This set up is stable regardless of orientation I have all of the images in my build log! Kind regards, Justin
  9. Thank you Temples for checking out my project Jens did all of the engravings which gives it an outstanding personal touch! Haha, yeah! Alot of time as well Thanks mate. I am always trying to raise the bar. Hehe. I would have prefered to watercool it, but Jens wanted a near maintenance free PC. A closed loop was the perfect solution for him. Thanks! Sure thing man. Each hole is plotted 7mm from each other, and each hole is 4.5mm wide. Best to use a pillar drill to assure accuracy! Cheers man LEDs might appear one day, then I will get some shots Idle: CPU 26c GPU 30c Load: CPU 55c GPU 65c Thermals don't seem to be affected by the material. There is an extra large opening up to and an exhaust fan, so all air exits the chassis. That you sir! Can't always make them better in the eyes of everyone, but I can always try something new and unique Thank you Nup! It has taken some time to get the details right, but it has been worth it. Thank D33g33. I had thought of using another colour to offset the texts on those various parts/places, but I didn't want it to look "too much". It was also supposed to be subtle so if you didn't see it the first time, you might see it later and think "Ahh nice!". The S-Frame project is delayed until I can get someone to finance the project. The last person had some troubles and couldn't go through with it. I might recommend other cases before this if you plan on water cooling. The options are pretty slim if you are wanting to use mATX But thanks for checking out the project. Thanks Spwath as always! As I had mentioned, the S-Frame build is on hold until I can find someone to fill it with parts. Cheers man I am all about the details! And thank you Sheen! I hope to get a new project started soon! I recognise the reference, but can't put my finger on it. Please put me out of my misery! Thanks BTW!! /J
  10. Sponsored by Update No.13 My lucky number, and final update! Hello my friends! In this update, I am proud to present to you the posting of the Redefine project, and the final photoshoot of this beastly machine. I am very happy and sad to see this project complete as I have had a blast working with this chassis, all the products and various materials. I cannot say that everything went problem free though as I had some driver issues and software problems to deal with which took 3 days of my life, wasted on trying to get this system up and running. I am happy to report that everything is now working perfectly, and I have installed Windows 10 Preview and played a few rounds of Battlefield Hardline.! BTW if anyone wants to have a match on BF4 or BFH please add me at metallicacid_01 But before I get on with the image onslaught, I would like to take this moment to thank my sponsors who have giving their time and products to make this project come to life. Without your support, I would not be able to create these projects that I love to create! Thank you to: Inet Corsair ASUS Ultimate Personal Computer Dremel So firstly I want to show you some awesome custom engraving made by the owner of this project, Jens. He is magical Some of the cable routing from behind to the front: White painted Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM installed: Redefined H100i hotwired to another PSU as I didn't have a second SATA power cable handy.. And the machine posting: Jens working on some more engravings, and a Corsair badge be made: Final images taken on location where I work, and modded: Final images at home in the kitchen I really hope that you all have enjoyed this projects' build log, and the finished resulting PC. It has been a pleasure working on the chassis, and having all of you joining me once again in creating another custom project! For those of you wanting to know what is next, I have a few projects in the works, and hope to start with a personal HTPC project right away. Once I have some more confirmed information, I will set up a build log and inform you all where you can find me That is it for now, and thank you for following. I hope to see you again in the next project!! Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  11. Haha I have had the good luck of being kind of famous for what I do. My wife sees that it makes me happy (and I earn some extra cash on the side) so I can do it. It is give and take. I spend time with her and the family, and sometimes I can get away to mod without distraction. I also have a very laid back job where I can mod in my free time between tasks, so this is a major plus. Bribing with sweet things works well too! /J
  12. Here you go! Thanks again! I have some sweet custom engraving on aluminium badges coming up hopefully tomorrow /J
  13. Sponsored by Update No.12 Further progress on final touches. Why G'day folks! Just another quick update to show you some sponsored Corsair Dominator White 1866mhz 16GB RAM, and some custom metal panels on the ASUS Strix GTX970! Enjoy Plastidipped Corsair Platinum RAM, which had a final coat of normal white paint to match the rest of the repainted chassis: And the custom metal plates, plus an engraved badge which says Redefined. The badge has been further engraved and now sports a deeper and more detailed logo. More images of this coming soon Now silly me forgot to take my camera to work today, so I couldn't document anything that I had done. I promise to take the camera tomorrow, and get some shots of the current progress before I continue. I plan on having the PC complete before this weekend Thanks for reading, and hope to see you all in the next update. Please feel free to let me know what you think!! Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  14. more coming very soon! Thank you mate! Just trying my best to make some original mods. Such kind words, thank you Awesome to hear that this project is liked Just finishing up the final touches as we speak... EDIT: awesome build man! epic GIF is epic. Everyone wants some of that pie /J
  15. Sponsored by Update No.11 Crazy randomness just before the project is completed. Hello everyone! Well I have been hard at work again trying to put the finishing touches on the last details of my Redefined project. A photo bomb is coming your way, and I will try my best to explain what is going on for each image In the time that I have been modding, I have come to realise that the devil is in the details. I am trying to make all of these little details "pop" and stand out, or blend in so that I have a uniform and strong design. Hope you enjoy! Here I remade the panel which sits beside the motherboard. The design will have holes for the 24pin, 8pin GPU and SSD. This is the custom PCIE riser support which is pop riveted onto the bottom panel. The custom back panel in primer. This PCIE riser has green PCB and blue isolating tape. This was fixed by painting the PCB and using black electrical tape to cover up the blue tape. SSD installed. Front panel button cables which enter through a hole behind the motherboard, and come out to be connected up. Here you can see that I have routed the excessively long H100i USB cable underneath the armour of the Z97 Gryphon. The end of the cable is covered in black electrical tape, but turned out looking like rubbish. New back panel is installed and motherboard IO is painted. This is the main support for the GPU, which directly screws onto this plate. The back panel is finished with black countersunk screws. Painting the thumb screws black which belong to the H100i. An overview image of the installation thus far. I will be building the rest of Redefined tomorrow, which means that I will hopefully have some final images for you by the end of this week. Also, do you think that I should install LEDs? Thanks for reading guys and girls Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  16. I have plastidipped these items: GPU shroud SSD Motherboard armour Dominator Platinum RAM /J
  17. Thanks for the vote I have a few projects here, hope they meet expectations! /J
  18. Cheers! You should see it now that the metal highlights are installed I second this. But then again Plastidip is AWESOME for this type of thing. MUHUHAHAHAHAHA!! It looks great! Thank you Jerry! That sucks to hear. There are many countries in the small space which takes up just a fraction of Australia. I can understand that the budget for sponsorships will be greater here in the combined total of countries when compared to back home. Great! See you there mate I was wondering where you had went Just asked, then presented an idea. I guess they liked what I had to say, and probably checked out my previous work. There was only 500 produced f the red and black version. They have just released a black and gold version which might be 500 as well, so not so limited in the end.. Thanks for reading guys!! /J
  19. Sponsored by Update No.10 Random images of everything I am working on at the same time Hey guys and girls! It has been a few weeks since my last update, and I am sorry for the delay. I had some time off with my family over Xmas and New Years, and have been at home with my daughter who was to sick for preschool. But now I have an update This update is all about randomness. I have been working on all of these little odd jobs, and details which certainly go toward making this PC truly unique. I am in the final stages of cutting, drilling, sanding and filing, and have now almost completed the painting of all fabricated panels. I have not had time to properly document everything as I usually do as I am wanting to finish this project, and start on my next project using In Win's S-Frame. Some updates on hardware being used in this project: Asus Strix GTX970 4GB and Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866mhz 16GB (4x4GB). They are being painted and modded to match the design accordingly Free standing GPU. The sexy RAM before modification. Strix painted GPU shroud with some custom metal detail work. More to come with this in future update. I still have some surprises to come, so I hope everyone is still invested in this project!! BTW, this is something that I have in store for the next upcoming project: With best wishes, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  20. Sponsored by Update No.9 Painting and modding Well hello there again, and welcome to a massive update!! It feels like I am starting to round up things with this project, but I still have a few updates and surprises in store for you all. But firstly, this update.. Well then, to begin with, I did something special with the SSD as a thank you for the sponsorship. Then I painted and sleeved a couple of fans.. And then the ASUS Z97 Gryphon armor got a lick of the ol' white! Installed the power button: And lastly modded the Corsair H100i to fit the theme.. I hope you like the update guys, and soon I will have another update for you all to chew on Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  21. Thanks mate!! Hehe. Nice pun @Flyguygamer And thanks @MajorTemples Well then you are most welcome sir!! I would love to see that idea come to life. I might have to start making luxury leather panel kits for peoples rigs /Justin
  22. Sponsored by Update No.8 Front/top panel wrap Hello friends and welcome to my latest update! Today I would like to share with you a concept I came up with to cover the grill/mesh which is one of the defining features of the Carbide Air 240. I decided that I wanted to use a single piece of aluminium, cut it, bend it and cover it in leather speaker material. This is what it turned out like Short and sweet little update, I hope you enjoyed it! Kind regards, Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen
  23. Me too. My first ASUS sponsorship, so it's a big deal for me Cheers Heethoofd. Hopefully it isn't the last to be sponsored either. I am working on something as I type Hehe. I get that sometimes. Most people just call me Tom Cruise though. You like it? The texture on the metal plate on the backside is amazing. Thanks Ind3x! I will have some more updates this week for you to check out. Just remove 7 screws and you are done my friend. Easy! Thank you so much I use 200 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface then clean it with acetone. Then I use car grade self etching primer, enamel paint and clear coat, leaving 20mins curing time between very thin coats. Let it all dry for a good 2 days and it should be rock solid. Key is to paint VERY thin layers each time, and it helps if the items dry in a dry/warm area. /Justin
