  1. You are right there. I didn't even know that was on the list for things that were being given away. Yes it looks like unfortunately that is a top 100 prize though. Sorry about that.
  2. Actually we are awarding the prizes not the donors. The details are in the op for who is eligible for what. That's the right idea! Computers make great heaters.
  3. If we can keep up something close to our current production we will be number 8 by tomorrow!!!
  4. You might want to consider checking out the BOINC Pentathlon that comes around every early spring. But when it comes to user friendliness I think folding is much more user friendly than BOINC simply because you can install it and ignore it and it will work. Most of our gripes are with optimization to pull that extra last bit out of what we do.
  5. Another option would be something like MiniTool Partition wizard which can transfer your os to the new drive and leave files stored on the old one. Or you can do a full clone of one drive to the other.
  6. I've always wondered this. Like someone out there who was just trying to make an exploit to show people that it existed and needed to be fixed but then have them run F@H or Boinc. Would be pretty cool. But if it does happen.... errr... I didn't do it. lol Also got to take into consideration our friend in the southern hemisphere they were actually able to fold for the beginning of the event pretty well before temps kicked up in the last couple of weeks. But it might change back to November next year. Just need to figure out what the perfect balance is. Sounds like a daylight savings time issue.
  7. If it makes it past the 4th well count it as alive. lol
  8. Since its not dead I'm not sure I can add it but your sanity will be added to list.
  9. This might be a weird ask but can everyone give me a list of any and all hardware that died during the event. I'm thinking about doing a kinda cheese memorial post for all of the hardware that was sacrificed in the name of science.
  10. ^ this is the correct way to apply for the general folding badges. And he is also correct that after the event is over @GOTSpectrum, @Gorgon, and myself will send a list of people who qualified for the event badge to the mods and they get rolled out on their own even if it might take some time to do so.
  11. *pulls out credit card to buy GCP power* No army could ever stop me!!! Everything about this pic turns me on. I need specs.
  12. "F" Well due to the collective brilliance between my power provider (PG&E) and my ISP (Comcast) I have power but no internet at my house so my gaming rig is offline. Oh and even better than that: since apparently my internet is dependent on a router that is on the grid that did lose power (I suspect) they have no eta on when I will get service back. And seem to be making no attempt what so ever to change routing over to one of their servers that does have power (literally the other side of town has power and internet through the same provider)
  13. What work unit were you on? I know for a fact that on linux mine will vary from 1.6m ppd down to 1.2 on really poorly optimized WU's
  14. Aren't you worried about getting lead poisoning? Hey I'm not a... (looks at Pentium running old 970 with modded bios) ok ill admit I'm a hoarder. Its ok being in the southern hemisphere is definitely a disadvantage. But I'm sure you'll be toward the top for the summer folding sprint. Checks watch... yeah wait till core 22 is released... lol
  15. Oh when using apt-get there is supposed to the hyphen in there. Its the same command either way. but if in the future you use apt-get just make sure to add the "-"
  16. No problem. Give a lot of credit to @Gorgon who got me this far with it too. also here is his guide to Linux setup.
  17. Most of us run a Debian based distro just because it has the most support. PPD wise I don't think it makes a difference which distro you use at all. But ease of getting up and running I think Debian based is much easier than the rest but then again most of my Linux experience is from Kali/Ubuntu (both Debian based) so that might just be me.
  18. all of this looks right with windows but with linux you will definitely get a nice 10-20% boost across the board on ppd. (except the 2080ti simply because its too powerful to be fully utilized for most of the work units so that will be random between 2.5-3.2m ppd no matter what from what I've heard.
  19. Double check the work units on the 2070 mine on good ones makes about 1.6m but on bad ones can drop all the way 1m flat.
  20. this would definitely be one for @AlexTheGreatish and @jakkuh_t to take on. Gaming on a potato. Coming from the phrase that its so easy to run it could run on a potato. I want to see a computer powered by a potato (or like 100) and then from there running different games and building up to the point of seeing how many potatoes it would take to run Crisis or something crazy. Obviously there are a lot of directions you can go in with this from a little raspberry pi powered by potato to seeing if you can run a full gaming tower with like 200 of them. I would just love to see this vid and think you guys are the right place for it. Keep up the great work.
  21. Wow this is actually really good data. I would be interested to see a comparison of the snapdragons against older intel processors though. But the number 1 take away from this is that I need to upgrade my 4790k before my phone is more powerful than it. lol We also have all of the stats posted to the public so that you can see the results of the event and double check if you qualified. But in the future something we are going to work on is actually getting rid of the confusion between the two different signups. But this definitely was a big problem last year as we had people trying to sign up past the deadline since the LMG giveaway was still open they expected ours to be and this is where a lot of the confusion came from.
